Doctor Who 50th Anniversary |OT| Splendid Chap, All Of Them

Yeah, real missed opportunity to have such a good looking cast and set filming alongside the special but not use them for it too. I don't think it'd be disrespectful to "recast" the roles when they're already playing the actors themselves.

I think they should leave the passed on Doctors alone, but they should've used that bloody wonderful old school TARDIS set. Make it the Hurt Doctor's TARDIS!

I think they already recast Hartnell in The Five Doctors anyway.

And it was widely acknowledged as a bad decision.Don't think Moffatt would be interested in it, I think when he said he would want Hartnell back it was merely a musing.
Ah... I didn't know that.

I'm not sure that I agree with the mob on that one. If you have an actor who can pull off an old Doctor convincingly, I say go for it.

Doubt you'd ever find a convincing Tom Baker facsimile, though. The man was truly an anomaly.

Personally, i feel that there's 11 actors who've played the Doctor, if they're not available you leave that version of the character alone.

I don't mind quick body double shots like Name of the Doctor, but not really into complete recasting like Hurndall.

Wow. His name was really close to Hartnell. Bet they really thought they could get away with it!

I don't want to see other actors playing the parts, but I wished/hope they use that Totter's Lane set.

Now that you mention it, I wouldn't even need a trailer for the special. Just a teaser panning over the junkyard with Matt reading the

"It all started out as a mild curiosity in the junkyard and now it's turned out to be quite a great spirit of adventure."

line from The Sensorites would have me passed out from hype 'til next month.

I would love it if a big wax figure of Eccleston and McGann showed up in the episode..

Apparently the trailer will air tomorrow night after Strictly, and it features all the Doctors with some CG mixed in. Fingers crossed.

Is Rachel Riley still in Strictly? I might just say "fuck it" and watch the whole show if so

Yeah, she's the only reason I watch it. Edit: Actually that's a lie, I also watch for Brucie's hilarious jokes.

I have never even visited, and yet I have come to loathe that place :)

Haha, I don't post, I only use it to get rumors/news but apart from Moffat haters and classic Who elitists it's not too bad.

The official twitter accounts will post something in advance if there is a trailer.

"Im really hoping the trailer features the three doctors standing on top of a hill with galliferyan energy guns shooting a hordes of Daleks coming for them, and maybe a doctor tornado with smith and tennant spinning around holding hurts hands and lauching him so he can drop kick some time lord in his ceremonian robes."

Edit:

This dudes usually pretty reliable:

To all the Swedish whovians - and any other that would like to help as well :) - Sweden is one of very few European countries that wont the the Anniversary. This petition to get the Swedish equivalent of the BBC, SVT, to show the episode on november 23 already has close to 300 signatures. So we still have a chance if enough of us make our voice heard!

Well obviously.

But it's still a totally different thing seeing an episode on the actual television instead of through a computer. No matter what quality the rip would be.

The first trailer for Doctor Who's Fiftieth Anniversary airs on BBC1 tomorrow at 20.21. I am told it's amazing so less than 24 hours to wait.

I've seen physical proof that it's on tomorrow. Unless they change it purely because we know. But it IS scheduled yes."

Finally the trailer!

Although, it seems almost silly to put it out tomorrow. They should have just waited until Oct 23. Exactly a month out.

Sort of hoping it's a 15 second teaser primarily consisting of quick flash cuts of footage of the first 9 Doctors for maximum meltdown/anger

(Though I desperately want to see the comic con footage, so I really do hope it's that.)

I'm more than ready for it to be a 60 second spot, 45 seconds of which are old footage from past doctors, and 15 seconds of new-ish footage, ending with an image of all three standing near each other, a line gets delivered, and a logo comes up.

They announced a few weeks ago there'll be specially shot footage. I doubt it'll be all old clips. I don't really mind that there's no footage from the 50th in it really, there's not long to go now, it'll be nice to go into it seeing as little as possible.

One of them is a brand new trailer, specially written and shot for The Day of the Doctor. It’s never been seen before and is currently in post-production. Bold, brilliant and unexpected, it promises to be an ideal way to look forward to the big day – 23 November.

I mind, I feel like the BBC is giving fans that did not attend Comic Con the middle finger.

I was annoyed at first, still am at Moffat saying no more Comic con exclusives if it got leaked, as if he'd do that. I reckon we'll see a trailer with actual footage from the 50th not long after this one.
