This reminds me why I've loved Doctor Who since I was a kid. So many memories. What a great image.

I'm fine with no footage of the episode. It's not too often that we go into a big movie like this with no real idea of what will happen. I mean, we have the gist of it all, but the general details are still very sparse.

Let's see if that'll last til the anniversary lol

I think a specifically created trailer is more exciting than one just cut from the episode anyway. More new content! Even if it is only a minute long.

I am more than alright with a specially created trailer for the past 50 years. It's still early to show a trailer for the specific episode on BBC One (no, I don't care about Comic Con), but something like this to generally amp people up for the anniversary is more than fine.

Uuuuuh better be something special Beeb. I've been watching fan-made clips of Doctor footage compilations for half a year, expect more from the horse's mouth. Are they referring to this?

One of them is a brand new trailer, specially written and shot for The Day of the Doctor. It’s never been seen before and is currently in post-production. Bold, brilliant and unexpected, it promises to be an ideal way to look forward to the big day – 23 November.

We’ll bring you that trailer as soon as we can, but in the meantime, here’s a shot from behind the scenes of its production. And don’t forget to catch the stings tonight on BBC One around Atlantis! If they’re on a little late for you, don’t worry, we’ll have them right here on the official site so you can watch for weeks after they air!

So hopefully not just a clip show trailer.

Personally, i feel that there's 11 actors who've played the Doctor, if they're not available you leave that version of the character alone.

I don't mind quick body double shots like Name of the Doctor, but not really into complete recasting like Hurndall.

That's nowhere near as bad as the recasting of Baker in that shot:

Here are the previously 'filmed especially' trailers with no footage from the actual series - tonight's will probably be like these:

Just posting so people can put their expectations in line!

Holy crap that Matt Smith one is cheesy-pie! Odds on McGann starring in tonight's trailer? Place your bets people
He'll be in as recorded footage lololololol.

My guess: A compilation of footage, with John Hurt doing his turn around thing at the end. It's kind of insane how little they're reminding people David Tennant is in it!

Hi, sorry, I spent all day yesterday driving to Disneyland. What's going on? There is some kind of trailer incoming?

Ed: Never mind, just found the press release

I wish! Maybe this is what he was recording VO in the style of Matt for?

Well as I posted above, there's a picture of a set full of Daleks that was said to be behind the scenes of new scenes being shot specifically for the special trailer. It's going to be more than a clip show, I think.

Those are Time War era Daleks I'd say, along with the weird Galifreyan looking arches from this picture we got of the Daleks;

And the DotD poster;

So it's probably going to be focused on Hurt Doctor. Not such a stretch of the imagination to think it might show the birth of the Hurt Doctor...

Only Doctor Who fans could complain about a specially shot trailer celebrating 50 years, over a trailer for an episode they'll see in full in a month.

Hey I'd much prefer a McGann prequel. If they'd never shown a trailer to anybody, less people would bitch, I imagine. As it is, they showed it to people then allowed people to describe everything they saw anyway. So...

This was posted on Gallifrey Base:

someone I know has seen the trailer, and has dropped two hints, and two words:

"Not saying I've seen it or anything but it's bloody awesome, and if you record it make sure when you play it back to look out for
a surprise face near an Ood"

"There is NO FOOTAGE or refs to the actual episode in the trail. If there are hints they are very VERY subtle"

And the two words:

"Paul McGann"

oooh

I'm not familiar with whatever website the Beeb puts this up on.. Should I expect to be able to watch this on iOS?

That was actually pretty cool going through all the Doctors, sure, no actual footage, but pretty neat none the less.

Missed it! Was
Paul McGann
in it!?

I don't think I saw him, but I'm pretty sure each of them were there and I just missed him.

Scratch that, he was there at 0:39 on the left, watched it again, they are all there. Jenna louise coleman looking fine as always too, lol, no Hurt though that I could see, just saying.

Wait, so I don't get what the big deal was about the guy who saw the trailer early pointing out Paul McGann by the Ood. ALL the Doctors were in this.
