Actually it's high passed time that Dota 2 had some mechanism to create "seasons". League has had them for years. Seasons are pretty cool as a concept. You more or less start over and climb again once a year for nice end-of-season gifts and sets and whatnot. Though League is more separated into divisions than Dota is presently. I suspect that will change soon as well.

I've wanted something like divisions in Dota for a while now but keeping this behind a paywall and locking the rest of the community out of it is pretty shitty imo.
The next battle pass should just be a gacha game.
Randomly roll heroes. Send them on quests. Earn points. Unlock rewards.
Complete game cheevos for more rolls/points, or buy them because you're a big fat whale.

Definitely agree and it's a really important point. A seasonal format will have to be independent of paywalls. It has to be, for all the obvious reasons.
