I've compiled the main videos on the lore you can add to the OP. It's only like two main series though. DAO has a somewhat video summary as well. But I'd argue that with Shinobi's material and reading the wiki entries it should be enough for the game plots.

Yeah I am only going to include DAO and DA2 in a brief "Timeline of Important Events". No characters or particulars.

And thanks!

Nightmare straight away, unless it feels cheap, the action based combat should mean if i can dodge i'm not dead right?
Didn't help DA2 at all. No amount of kiting will save you from the hordes of tanky archer reinforcements. So, like you said, it depends on how they choose to make it hard. I can play Origins on nightmare but I've never beaten DA2 on anything harder than normal. Too many cheap encounters.

np. Wasn't hard even. There are two channels which have done a video series on the lore, both have it as a playlist. Topics overlap a bit but some of the videos cover material the other video series didn't.

Hey Dawg, the warrior had a parry if I recall correctly, did you use it and if so how did it work? I saw the parry in the double daggers tree and was wondering if it requires good timing.

The only problem I'm having now is hearing that you can't use the keyboard at all if using gamepad. The game actually looks like it would play better with the gamepad on the PC but I need my hotkeys :(

Is the default world setting good, or is it worth me going through the vault and picking stuff at random even though I've never played the first two games?

So I'm reading the Dark Horse DA comics while I wait for Tuesday. Can anyone recommend any of the novels? I heard Masked Empire and Asunder were good.

Watching the comparison video between Low and Ultra on PC makes me pretty confident in going ahead and playing as soon as I can pick it up instead of waiting to upgrade my GPU.

I should manage a good combination of Medium and Low settings.

I am messing around with the keep. I will mostly stick with the choices I made except I figure I try to keep as many people alive as possible. The more people alive the more characters from past games may show up in DA3 right? I see no benefit having them dead.

Yeah, PC low looks surprisingly ok. I'm guessing that's about what last genw ill look like... only sub 720p and 25-30 FPS.

Masked Empire and Asunder are both very relevant to DA: I and I highly recommend them. Last Flight is a damn good book in its own right, but it's not very relevant to DA: I. It concerns the Fourth Blight and Grey Wardens. If that sounds interesting and you have the time, it's well-written.

Well, I've never played a DA game before but all the positive reception and my craving for a true next gen RPG has me ready to jump in. I borrowed a friends 360 and DA 1/2 to play through, how long do you estimate it will take me to get through both games? I'm in no particular rush, although Inquisition does look sensational.. Hahah

Not sure but I'm gonna check... It's 6 hours. Which breaks down to: 3.5 hours stressing over every last detail of my character, race, and class. Starting the game! Playing for 30 minutes then hating one little thing about the character. Re-starting game with new and improved character! Playing the game for 30 minutes then reaching a response wheel question that I'm sure has impact later in the game. Regret answer immediately after it is chosen. Re-start game! Play for 30 minutes and time is up!

This is so me.

So this is really sounding like a less shallow Skyrim. First Bioware game ive been hyped for for a while. And my wife is already a Dragon age nut so I might just give this a try when she buys it.

May it be to Skyrim what New Vegas was to Fallout 3.

Playing through all of Origins and it's DLC took me 100 hours. DA2 is about 30 to 40 hours.
