Are < 200 reviews really an indication of what people think of it? Most of those are people who rushed to put a hot take on there. Just scrolling down and every single negative review has less than 2 hours in the game. I don't care about the game but let's stop this nonsense and wait for the dust to settle.

That's definitely a success. If it holds around ~10K+ after a few weeks, should be in track with other games that are in Top100 games played on Steam.

Well, sadly it looks like the game is selling well. I knew the IP would carry some sales but it seems like it's gonna be a success.

I don't think it's gonna have legs but it's gonna be one of those "see woke is not broke" talking points anytime a newer game comes out with bad optics.

Seems kinda low but what do I know

Seems like a success?
Released less than 3 hours ago on a weekday. Games usually peak on the first Saturday/Sunday. Seems like a success. It will keep climbing up and might breach 100K over the weekend seeing that most people in NA are still at school or work as of this post.

A rare incel defeat.

Concord really reset the Overton windows on fails…

This is a dragon age game. That name alone will make some sales (just like Star Wars). It’s over the long term does this game meet internal expectations.

Doubt we know that for months.

How any of y’all can derive any “bioware saved v bioware dies” by a few hours look on steam is beyond me.

Said it a few times before, it'll have at least 100k concurrent players and it's going to reach that. Big budget single player AAA fantasy games always sells a lot. Although with the work and budget they put into it, it'll need like 300k to 400k concurrent player for it to be a decent success on Steam. It won't need crazy high concurrent numbers like the 800k of BG3 or 2.4mil of Wukong but 200k to 300k at least or more.

Well reviewed sequel in a popular franchise sells well. The only people surprised are those who consider every purchase a salvo in some kind of culture war.

Say cope but surely it can't sell nearly as well as it would have without all this controversy? Hmm. I see a lot of disappointed players, bad reviews, refunds.

The game is a trap! £50 for a series of lectures on gender identity that you have to agree with. Good grief 😔

Transguard redeemed!!!

Alot of the initial sales are likely due to name recognition, so why are we celebrating already? I'd say it will be at least a month before anyone can say whether it's a flop or not.

Again, anyone who expected Concord level performance was kidding themselves. The game's going to do fine out of the gate. Long term performance is a bigger question once early impressions are out in the open, but the debut isn't particularly surprising.

This is what Im thinking, this is a big budget action RPG, well known IP, well known company. There are probably a lot of people excited to play this that aren't even fully aware of all the controversy or the cringe fest.

I think it'll launch decent, the big question is how what kind of legs does it have. I think this game will ultimately settle somewhere around sold "okay-ish". Not a flop but not gangbusters.

Nothing sad about it. If you don't like the game - great, that's fine. Leave it for people who like it to enjoy. Games selling well - even ones you don't like - are good for everyone in the industry.

Imagine if instead of cheering for things to fail, we ignore the ones we don't like and cheer on the ones we like?

Dragon age is an established franchise, I think steam stats being the end all be all is weird, when a game launches hopefully it succeeds, its infrastructure is improved through updates and yes there’s failures on the magnitudes of Concord but that doesn’t happen much. 🎤

I dunno, to me watching shit trash do well just enables for more shit trash. The industry doesn't care about feelings, they care about money and this sends the message that we consume, just put anything on our plate with an IP and we'll gobble it up without thinking.

it's sad to me.
