Did you preorder the game before the 13th or just buy it now? I'd imagine that preorders have priority right now, they may have even sold out of their first shipment (fingers crossed because that would be excellent news for Dragon Quest). The Release Day delivery upgrade period seems to no longer be eligible for this game, unfortunately. My Amazon order says that it won't arrive until Tuesday the 20th. I'm curious does Amazon no longer do same day even if you order with two day prime?

This too, we got new cards from the bank between preorders going up and release date, so I've predictably been having a mild anxiety attack all week about that screwing everything up even though I updated the payment method ASAP.Did you change your billing card or address on the order? I've had that screw up my pre-orders on amazon
Is it? I'm just 5 hours or so into Cold Steel 1 and it's not really doing much for me. It kind of reminds me of Persona 4, only with much less interesting style and characters.
Does it suddenly get better a couple chapters in?

What are monster classes ?
Do you transform into the monsters ??
It sounds confusing to me.
I'm trying to avoid spoilers so I can't check it out, what I read doesn't give proper answers.
Yes, it's true. The western release has the sequenced music from the mobile version. It still sounds quite good, but it's not live music like the Japanese version had.
So the job system changes your stats, your appearance, and as you rank up in the job, you learn abilities, either globally or class-specific. In the original, every ability was global.
Monster classes are one-time use scrolls you can get either from rare drops or otherwise, that grant the character you use them on the option to be that monster as their job. In the original version, if you got them to max rank your character would turn into the monster while you were assigned as the job. Monster classes would usually have utility or status effect abilities that were found throughout the normal jobs, and in some cases some very powerful abilities.
In the remake, they have an additional function of teaching high-level spells globally, as now the normal second-tier (hybrid) classes teach you high level spells, but they're only usable while you're that class.
Ok so let me get this straight :
You get scrolls (how ? Defeating monsters ? random drops ? Can get bosses ? is it only monsters or "enemies", as in humanoids too, if there are any in the game ?), than you have to max rank them ?
You said they were one use only, how do you max rank them then ? Do you need to earn multiple scrolls to max a monster ? Can you teach a same spell to multiple characters ?
If you transform into the monster, I take it it changes your appearance ? How long does it last ? For one battle ?
Thanks, I'm pretty interested in the game, I pre ordered it, I'm trying to learn more about the system without spoiling myself.

Same here, preordered both 7 and 8 the day Amazon put them upFWIW, I've had mine preordered from Amazon since last November (!) and I still haven't gotten a shipment notification. Still says it should ship by Friday, but who knows.
Do we know how many blocks the download will be?
The pre-download version currently available is 11,632 Blocks. I'm in NA.Do we know how many blocks the download will be?
Based on the pre-load it's about 11,632 blocks. I don't know if it'll change since this is the first time I've pre-loaded something on the 3DS though, but the block size is probably a safe estimate.
Thank you. Last I checked (a few days ago), pre-loading isn't up in Australia yet.The pre-download version currently available is 11,632 Blocks. I'm in NA.
How is the story and characters? I loved DQ8 and it's in my top 3 RPGs. I thought 9 was decent. I played about 10 hours of DW7 on the ps1 and thought it was alright but hated the old school menu interface with Talk, Cast, Item etc.
I'm not sure if I can push myself through a 100 hour RPG without good characters and story.
I agree. The last thing anyone should feel when playing a DQ game is rushed.I get why people sound worried about the game being really long, but I like the idea of having a portable RPG that I can just play for an hour every now and then and have it last for several months.
Especially given that DQ in particular always has these little vignettes that turns these games into many little chapters. It makes them quite satisfying to play even in shorter bursts.
But I'm the type of player the player who doesn't feel any rush to finish games anyways. I love RPGs for mood and mechanics, not necessarily for epic endings.
