Stuck at a certain giant tree. How do I
catch the Ygg dew in the pixie pitcher? Using the pitcher near the falling drops does nothing.

I'm scared to ask.

Anyway I can check which mini medal I missed ? Ah ah ah....

Also what does Maximo's fragment unlock ? A secret boss ? Is it worth getting the medals for a guy that missed many of them. 30 hours in the game.

10 hours into the game question about backtracking

I'm in the animal city in the new world and can't seem to find the second tablet but already unlocked the new blue world on the map, Will I have to backtrack to pick up this tablet piece later on?

Just stand under the drops.

I think there's a Mini Medal guide in a Sticky on the GameFAQs board. I don't remember what the fragment unlocks, but it is probably something post-game.

Look to the right of the bed in the back of the weapons merchant house. You can backtrack if you want to, or just Zoom there the next time you're in the Present.

This has probably been discussed before, but why the non-US spelling of words in the localization? Where was this game localized?

not complaining (Canadian), it just surprised me

I read about some guy having a glitch when a revisiting
the area Maribel leaves the party
at.

Maribel
vanished from his party. And they can't them back.

So I just finished up DQV today and I'm already giving sideways glances to VII. My experience with the series is limited to V and IX, having loved both.

I was particularly impressed with the ambitious plot arcs of DQV (by 1992 JRPG standards) but grew exhausted with the tireless encounter rate and limited soundtrack. In IX, I loved the distinct vignette that each town offered.

How would a DQ aficionado compare VII with V and IX?

So, I'm around 12-13 hours in. Just finished up
Faraday Castle (E.L.L.I.E.'s so precious)
and definitely taking my time with it. Still using party chat after 80% of NPCs and every event. I love Ruff and Maribel's comments. Though I feel as if Keifer's lost a bit of his edge at this point, but that might be more so me liking Ruff and Maribel more as time goes on.

Looking at Nintendo's quick start guide, I'm in the last leg of the journey before I finally get to AllTrades Abbey. At this point I'm starting to get bored of the battles, unfortunately. So far, with rather minimal grinding, at least for me, I've gotten through the game without much fear of death. Only on two separate occasions has a single party member died, and that was either due to a lucky critical, or a double attack.

Since you loved the vignette stories of DQIX, than you will absolutely love the ones in DQVII. I found the ones in 9 to be weaker overall than the ones I remember and reached in 7, though 9 made up for it in gameplay and sheer content. As for a comparison between DQV and DQVII, both probably hold the two best storytelling in DQ. Honestly, these 3 are the cream of the crop for DQ games in my opinion.

DQ seems to have been translated by Plus Alpha in recent entries, who seem to use British English. Guessing this entry was their work, too.

This one was localized by Shloc, but they're also British. British English has been the standard for the series since DQ8.

For the medals: I believe that there's only enough "missable" medals to stop you getting the last reward which is an (admittedly rare and hard to get but still obtainable) Monster Heart , so you should be able to get everything else, so it's likely worth it for that.

There's a complete list of medals in the Mini Medals - English List thread but the town names all use the PSX / Japanese town names, however the locations are all updated for the 3DS version (eg Haven).

They're going to run-out of regional British accents eventually.

The Yorkshire accents in Emberdale were pretty extreme. As obtrusive as the some of the ones in DQIV that get all the hate.

The exclamation mark pop-ups are unintentionally comical sometimes.

Guy: "Everyone... My father is dead."
Villagers: *SHWING* !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just finished the desert island in the past. So far that's been the worst area, but the dungeon and boss were cool.

I got stuck for a while there so bad. Seemed like I always missed to trigger the next event by not talking to this one specific person, and then it took me ages to find the place with the skull in the present. Ended up looking up a map on Woodus.com because nothing is labeled on the world map in this game.

Quite often the party chat would say "let's check out the river!" and then I ran around looking for something that wasn't there.

I love how deeply old school this game is, but two things I would love are
an actually useful map and an optional quest marker like in Bravely Default.

Casino Log 7:

Managed to win 5 copies of all the basic monster class hearts that can be won at lucky panel in the present first casino.

Slime IIIII
Berserker IIIII
Rockbomb IIIII
Jawtoise IIIII
Mimic IIIII
Chimaera IIIII

Time to head back to the job grind.

Ahhh god damn the mimic game in this is some next level shit. Soon im probably gonna be too afraid to talk to npcs.

This one was localized by Shloc, but they're also British. British English has been the standard for the series since DQ8.

Shloc is a great name.

Looks like they're the ones that did DQ Heroes and Ni No Kuni so clearly a very talented team.

Does anyone know the class level caps for each of the different areas please?

I'm currently level 21
in the desert area
after alltrades abbey and I'd like to use the area to level a bunch of the different basic classes.

At 21 the classes are still levelling.
(Gold stars means it's mastered right?)

been like 10 hours since that scene happened and I need to know

Do we ever know what happened with
Felix
and the old man?
just the way that part ended came out super creepy especially when the village becomes
The Haven
and they seem to fail at their mission.

I believe they did what they said they were going to do.
Travel to other villages and warn them of the grey rain.
They are mentioned in at least one other village later.

Thinking about it, I feel like getting monster hearts is easier in tablet dungeons. On that note, I was lucky enough to get a tablet via the internet trade with Goodybags. Also had Jawtoise and Berserkers, but those can be gotten via Lucky Panel.

So did n3ds get the ability to post screens to sites like imgur similar to WiiU or is it just miiverse compatible?
All 3DS models have the ability, via the web browser, to post screenshots to Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. The N3DS has a button for the site easily accessible in a menu though.

It can still only do actual screenshots saved as images though, which many games can't do. Miiverse can post screengrabs which allows it to work for many more games, like DQ7.

I've just made the return trip to the Abbey and boy am I glad that section was over. It just became tedious and annoying with how frequent fights are.

I'm Level 25 and just finished the
Yggdrasil
stuff, and Hero hasn't levelled up his job for a while. Warrior, he's been on "needs to win 5 more battles" for an island or so :(

Does the winning battles etc refer to my level being too high, does Hero have to get the final blow etc?

Your level is too high. Each area has a level cap and if you exceed it you'll stop getting job experience.

Took a few days off from this to read a book but I'm back in. I'm thinking I'm going to start avoiding battles now to give myself a bit of a challenge. That way I should be under leveled and too broke to buy good gear.

Was the original this easy or did I just suck at video games back then?

Can someone clarify what happens after distribution dates are over for the tablets? Do we have to pay to get them, can we get them through streetpass or other means?

Edit: link above me clarified it.

Welp, I really didn't read it that time! Egg on my face - I do apologise.

Haha no worries it made me laugh haha! Should have played it off as being in on the joke ;) I just finished the all trades abbey scenario btw aaaaah thank god haha. I really enjoyed it but it was grueling.

Is this tablet stuff worth doing? It's the one thing so far I haven't bothered with

I'm a bit naive for stuff like that :p

I just got my powers back - how far am I? It's quite a long line. Are many others this long? Also, the tablets are great for money and loot!

Haha you do have a bit more to do, another hour maybe. No idea man, this is my first time through the game and I haven't moved onto the next scenario yet, playing with the different jobs right now :D

I feel like some parts of this game are clunky and unnecessarily confusing. People keep mentioning tablet dungeons, but I'm not sure what those are.. Even though I unlocked the Haven (I think?)

I'm trying to keep my levels low so that I can grind slimes once I unlock the Jobs, but it's making some of these boss fights unnecessarily difficult. It would be one thing if I could get gold to upgrade my gear to mitigate some of the damage, but that would result in getting exp and leveling up. Hmmm.

If you have unlocked Haven, and don't know what tablet dungeons are, it's not the game's fault... because she literally tells you to go check out the downstairs area, where the tablet dungeon plinth is.
