Dragon Quest 7: Fragments of the Forgotten Past |OT| Roman numerals are hard

Who here has leveled up all classes for all characters? How time consuming was it and does it break the game? The "OCD" part of me doesn't think it can take grinding and leveling all 30 classes for each character separately, the game is long enough by itself and that just sounds tedious and overwhelming.

There are actually 54 classes in this game if you take monster classes into account.

Thanks, forgot about Monster Classes, I'm just going to level up the classes I really want and then will level up the rest post game at my leisure (assuming I can do that post game, right?).

Finished the game earlier today. Total playtime was 80:37. Love the little gran turismo Dragon Quest games take you on after a big battle. It's a chance to reflect on some of the vignettes. The final boss was a little dicey, I ended up with only the Hero and Ruff but luckily got a critical in when they were both in the yellow. One more breath or explosion spell would have done me in. I sometimes wonder if there's some fudging going on behind the scenes, I've had many 'near miss' moments like that in DQ games!

A question, I played through the game via a digital copy. I have a sealed physical copy of the game. Will I be able to boot up my save file on the cartridge version? Or are saves separate across media?

In the psx version, skills transfered between all classes

I mean, sure, you go for tier 3 for everyone, but do I really need Jester, Dancer, Sage, Luminary on every character? Seems like overkill.

Although after getting through thirty some rounds with
The Almighty
it might be nice to have omniheal on everyone!

To be fair, the monster classes still have the benefit of having all their skills transfer, like the beginner classes.

That's how you can always go around with things like Thin Air and Kazing.

I just
got acquired the sacred stone in Aeolus Vale (past).
How close to the end am I so far?

I don't want the game to end yet, I've had a blast with it. Buuuut I also want to have an idea of whether or not I'll be finished with it by the time VIII releases.

First time playing the game in a month and my 3DS switched-off out of nowhere.

I could probably rush back to where I was in about 15 minutes, but not a great feeling.

You should be done by then, but you still got quite a ways to go.

Ah, thanks!

This is definitely turning out to be one of my top 3 favorites in the series. I love all of the characters and the vignettes. When I
said goodbye to Kiefer it really felt like I was saying goodbye to an old childhood friend. And now whenever I see the boxart for the game I get sad because I get reminded that he's long dead in the present time. :(

And the soundtrack is really great. These tracks especially have really stuck with me:
To My Loved Ones -
Kiefer's farewell theme :'c
A Safe Haven - this happens to be playing when you
read Lavender's gravestone
... 1 of the most memorable moments in the game for me
Moving Through the Present awesome overworld theme, really captures the sense of a grand adventure

There's been some really annoying backtracking here and there, but I feel the game more than makes up for it with quality in every other aspect.

It's break week so I was able to get some respite and actually play the game.

Went through the Emberdale scenario and beat Glowering Inferno with Hero around lvl 7, the rest lvl 8. Wasn't hard anyway. I think I'm missing a resilience seed somewhere in the dungeon so I'll have to trek back in there and search.

I arrived in
Buccanam or however it is spelled. What do I have to do? Talked to everyone and went to the dwarfs. Saw the demon stealing something but nothing. Don't know what to do.

Edit.: Nvm. Didn't see the second pair of stairs in the inn.

I love playing through Dragon Quest IV-VI on the Nintendo DS (with V being my personal favourite), but I feel indifferent towards VII so far. Arus is the typical silent protagonist with a non-personality, Kiefer is a meat head that isn't much better, & Maribel is a condensending cow.

I reached the island with the petrified statues, so I'm asking when the pace starts to kick up? And do the characters start to grow & change?

1) Does style points matter when choosing armor?
2) Is there a certain job class you should start out with or choose what fits your playing style?

For those that don't know there is this Japanese TV series called Yuusha Yoshihiko which translates as Yoshihiko the Hero or Hero Yoshihiko.

wVpsS.jpg

In short it's a bootleg low budget Dragon Quest/JRPG themed TV comedy show filled with absurdity and Sato Jiro as the Buddha

Expect loads of DQ and JRPG jokes along with other Japanese humor.

Season 3 has just started airing and it looks like it mixes story elements from DQ7 (towns having their own problems) and DQ8 (The Sage Orbs).

The series is worth watching if you're a fan of the DQ franchise and JRPGs in general.

Her attitude is the best part about her character. Reading her dialog in party chat has made me laugh so many times because of something she said about an NPC or whatever sticky situation the party was in at the time.

She may have a tough exterior but she's actually a good person. That becomes clearer later in the game.

What's up with this, actually? Why is it slower? Is it because they're applying a patch or something rather than displaying just plain text?

Based on my own observed behavior:

- The English text renderer is slow. Screens that display lots of formatted text (i.e. the attributes screen) take longer to display than comparatively light screens.
- There seems to be an extra hit if there's an animated effect on the screen such as (mid-late-game spoiler)
the blue aura from the Skystone
.

It's speculation. I wish they'd make a patch.

Finished it earlier today! Really lovely game! I just wish towns in general and the present/past version of them were a little more different, but I guess Dragon Quest will always be Dragon Quest ahaha.

I'm planning on doing post-game content
I actually reached the Almighty but I got completely beaten in 2 turns
, but I'm not sure if I'm underleveled being just lvl 36... I'm trying to get good equips, but I fear I'll end up more time in the Casino than I might like, lol.

I levelled up all the human classss for all my characters. It was tedious and long but worth it to me for the final fight and bonus dungeon. Plus I'm a completionist so was fun. I haven'( mastered any monsters classes so might try that at a future date.

Got the
guiding light in Emberdale and bringing it back to Buccanham. When will I get Maribel back? And when is it safe to do so because of the glitches?

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

*Talks to Woodcutter, who is talking to animals*

*Apparently game isn't referring to him*

Yup, same thing happened to me, spent like half an hour banging my head against the wall before just googling it and realizing I missed something in the town you're trying to help.

It's great this game has a hint system, it's just too bad it sucks and is inaccurate half the time.

Can anyone tell me how much I have left in the game? I just (50ish hours spoiler)
killed the Demon King for what I am guessing is the first, but not last time.

Also, is the advanced caster class (Druid?) worth using? I haven't unlocked it on anyone yet but I think I have someone fairly close. I am currently rocking 2 each of Hero and Champion which seems to be doing pretty well for me.

You're pretty close. It took me another 20 hours but I was dicking around and grinding. You probably have 10 hours left

If you're close it's worth it. I wouldn't go on a completely different path for it at your point though.

Yes, but get multi-heal from Healslime heart or get a sage stone. Druids have no native healing spell.

In present Buccanham
I got the fragment from the altar. But there is another one. Went throught the casino and thought I looked everywhere. Also talked to everyone but nothing.
And how do I get to the
walled off shrine north of Wetlock? Hint says that there is a piece, too.

I just finished that part yesterday.
The mysterious fragment in Buccanham that needs to be exchanged for something else is actually a casino prize. Since you have to spend 40k on it, I'm not sure if it's actually required for anything but bonus content. I managed to progress without it. As for the shrine north of Wetlock, you need to use the Skystone and float over the water just above present-day Wetlock and the tower (the flying carpet won't work). Get the Skystone from the Divine Shrine if you haven't yet.

I've been to the Divine Shrine. Where do I get the Skystone?
Thanks for your help!

Edit.: Nvm. I should play a little more before asking questions.

I'll take your word for it. But so far, she was been pretty unlikable, and I hope the other two guys in my party will have more of a personality than that of a potato.

However, I got Ruff to join my crew, and I'm already in love with this wolf pup-turned-human child. He rides on the back of his adoptive mother, which is pretty cute, and his enthusiasm is very gravitating.
