This laddie just got to a pretty sad but insightful part of the game. While not super sad, it is certainly full of some touching moments.
Fair enough, I stand corrected the price was $42.No PC gamer ever, EVER, pays more than $42 for a new release, unless they truely do not know how to shop.
depends on what exactly you are looking for. It's Dragon Quest and the Mr. Toriyama did the monster design, so the monsters will always keep that distinct design throughout the game. But you will fight monster that certainly look and feel more threatening then a cucumber later in the game.I'm not very far in but please tell me I'm not going to be fighting cucumbers and blue poop emojis, and smoke. Please tell me the monsters get way more interesting and cooler looking. I like the windwaker/pokemon leaving on a journey vibe early on, but I am kind of put off by how childish the monsters are. Or is the target demo for this game young kids?
Cant edit my own posts on this forum so i'll update the steam one if i need to make changes
so like... why is the clothes that I have that supposedly changes the way the characters look... not changing how they look. did I change some visual setting or does everything have to change?
I like Persona 5's turn based combat but that game also has randomness of enemies one shots you with Hama or Mudo skills.Just beat the game earlier tonight....yesterday? Well anyways I think it's an 8/10 was a 7 but the music mod gave it a point. 1 thing I don't like about the game is in battles the randomness of turns for characters and enemies, you could steam roll the enemy one fight and you can get steam rolled the next for instance Fighting the final boos the game decided he should get 6 turns straight with aoes. I prefer how persona 5 does it's turn based combat and I get the randomness keeps you on your toes but 6 turns is excessive. Another thing I had a problem with:The option to get married in this game is lame and they way you go about it is dumb, also there is so little fan fare when it happens, you basically mind control your childhood friend through the big muscle man in the inter dimensional dungeon as a wish when simply asking her would have worked and also not having the option to marry serena is a sin
I did enjoy the game but the randomness of the combat did lead to some frustrating defeats.
True but at least it was more fair than 6 un interrupted turns of bs, there was a boss before the act 2 scene which put my whole party to sleep and 0'd us out( well the first 3 of us anyways).I like Persona 5's turn based combat but that game also has randomness of enemies one shots you with Hama or Mudo skills.
Is there any reason to be keeping my old equipment or equipment that I have made with the forge and no longer need them? Will I need them for future recipes as it was in DQ VIII?
There isI've been wondering this too, but in about 26 hours in and I haven't seen anything along those lines yet.
I do it all the time feels great!anyone else just go around on horseback running into smaller creatures for fun?
its actually a easy fightI think I won't bother with defeating Calasmos . I leveled almost everybody up to lvl 99 but I can barely even defeat one of his arms. Is there an easy way to kill him?
I've just finished up in Snilfheim, what a great location. The way they have fully realized DQ towns and environments in HD puts so many other RPGs to shame. Each location has been pretty special thus far. Unfortunately, with the MLB playoffs coming up and my Halloween themed games all month it's going to be hard for me to get in time with DQ, but I feel like I'm "pausing" at a really good spot. I'll try to get in an hour here or there if time permits but hopefully there are still people playing/discussing the game here when I get back to it.
Have you used pep abilities with Jade and Rab?So, I just had a weird thing happen. I was in a battle and had Jade perform a puff-puff, and the next character in line was Rab, who pepped up. The implications are...troubling.
Yeah I spent way too much time in those areas too for some reason. It isn't really worth farming stuff imo till you reach mobs that give you around 300exp. It is a big enough chunk to justify the extra time. Of course kill stuff on the way to destinations.I just started (picked it up since the orchestral mod was finished so fast) so I'll be around.
I'm not going very fast though, I just met Erik, fled Heliodor, and now he wants me to go back with him to get something he forgot.
I did spend a lot of time fighting monsters in the overworld on my way to Heliodor but I feel that that was a waste of time cause I didn't get much xp or money. I had forgotten how expensive weapons and armours are in these games!!

Do you mean this?just came across one of the most hilariously ridiculous moments I have had in gaming. thank you sylvando. he is truly the gift that keeps on giving lol
haha yeahDo you mean this?
That part put huge smile on my face and just made me loved the game even more.haha yeah
So i've been playing a lot in the casino lately and i currently have around 25000 tokens. Are the elevating and arriviste's vests worth the price (10000 tokens each)?
Well i now have around 40k!I would say no. Also, 25k is a pretty small number in the grand scheme of things and I wouldn't worry too much about it if you want them. Later in the game things will be costing 100s of thousands of tokens, so you won't really remember spending 10 or 20k.
I earned about 150k tokens on the one slot machine on the left in puerto valor that is 10 tokens and in the backSo i've been playing a lot in the casino lately and i currently have around 25000 tokens. Are the elevating and arriviste's vests worth the price (10000 tokens each)?
I've been playing on a 10 tokens machine too. The one on the left (as you enter the casino),back row, middle one. I'm steadily winning (adding 60 tokens on regular tries and 90 when it enters metal slime mode) but it takes time.I earned about 150k tokens on the one slot machine on the left in puerto valor that is 10 tokens and in the back
Nice to see you on the gaming side.So I'm about to go do the Yggdrasil tree I think, is that about halfway or more? This game is huge and I love it.
I was using Jade w/claws to hearken back to my love for DQ4's Alena, who is also a princess that uses claws. But then I got two falcon swords from mini medals and magic doors, and wanted to see how it worked with Erik's dual wielding. Turns out, pretty damn nice. And since I didn't really use any of Jade skills, I sadly switched her out for what is basically 4x cut doing +20-30 damage on average, not counting all the extra crits you can land as well.
Nice to see you on the gaming side.
When you say the game is huge, is it a large territory to explore? I've been getting kind of burned out on large open-world maps.
Ahhh interesting. That actually suits my tastes better, since good map design has really fallen by the wayside in the past decade. The maps aren't very big, just big enough to have some treasure chests hidden, some room to ride a horse for a little bit, and some collection points scattered throughout. It's like the maps from XC2 except probably half a big, but twice as many. Many maps also feature linear bits as well so they're not all wide open spaces to explore.
