I just made a cyclops fall to it's death by cutting a bridge, the bastard wouldn't stop chasing me while I had no health and only 1 pawn by my side after surviving another super hard fight with a bunch of minor enemies and a troll, who kidnapped my main female pawn and dragged her all over the place, now it's nighttime I'm out of fuel for my lantern and I don't know if I'm going to make it back to town :messenger_tears_of_joy: only in Dragon's Dogma man, 10/10 gameplay.

Funny, because my Pawn looks like her too. I have a thing for redheads 😳 now where's that armour...
I found it in a goblin mine that an early quest sends you to. I'm away from my PC so I can't check the name of it at the moment, sorry. However, if I remember correctly, loot was randomized in DD1 so I assume it's also random in this one.

You could steal them from the princess bedroom if you chose to go that route in DD1

Am I crazy or does disabling subtitles also remove the dialogue option boxes?

Anyway, some first impressions: it's okay. Performance is bad, even on a 4070 with DLSS on performance. Especially with water there's wild amount of ghosting and weird shit going on. The pawns fight well, but some have terrible dialogue and unpleasant personalities. I don't like how after 5 seconds from straying from the path the pawns are like "are you lost buddy? Follow me please and pay attention".. Their pathfinding seems very wonky as well, I've had two quests where my pawn wanted to show me the way and was just leading me in circles. The ideas are cool, but almost all of them seem half baked. Also the story is dreadful. The intro, the first gameplay sections, everything is just whack. The menus feel archaic.

Character creator was insane though, not sure if I'd ever seen so much options before.

Also: how is there no lock-on? It's so weird how there's no lock-on, especially with wild-moving enemies like harpies. I'm just whacking air half the time.

I've been playing DD2 for a few hours now. It's goofy and kind of janky, but so far, I think it's pretty fun. I loved DD1 when it released on PS3, so I'm happy that they've revisited the world. Sure it runs like shit and has microtransactions, but I think it's nice that Capcom took a big swing here. I'm sure that in a few patches, they'll have upped the framerate and fixed any glaring issues. Hopefully we won't have to kill off entire towns to improve the framerate for much longer :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Okay, I've changed my mind, this game is awesome. The first hour or so was a mess, so confusing and all over the place. With terrible lip sync. But when you get into the open world, the combat and pawns are so unique and fun.

I don't really know what the hells going on in the story, but I'm heading to the capital. They messed up the beginning I think. It showcased a lot of bad and dated elements, and I felt deflated initially

Its weird, the game feels both very sophisticated (how pawns interact with you and the environment, emergent gameplay etc) but at the same some things feel bad (lip sync, framerate) Capcom usually have state of the art presentation so its strange that isn't present for the most part.

This is just a pawn that has knowledge of what to do and wants to guide you, you probably picked up a capcom developer pawn at the start, since they are baked in with some starter knowledge to help you around.

I had to look it up since I didn't remember (been like 10 years since I played DD1), and apparently those were undergarments that go under your armor. Interestingly, the piece I got in DD2 is actual armor with good stats for archers and thieves (and maybe similar vocations that I haven't unlocked yet).

Im lost. I made it to the city and also did the quest with the guy in the cell. I left the tower and one of my pawns aggrod a soldier. All hell broke loose and half of the city stared fighting me. They killed me and I landet in the tower cell. I got our with the key and wanted to go to the poor part of the city. As soon as i step into this part of town I get attacked.

how can I lower my crime level? Or do these people remember the blood bath and I can’t go there anymore?

Hello, I've got a question. I bought the game today, a regular physical so I did not get any pre order bonus. I'm wandering if any of you know if the pre order bonuses are gonna be available at later date for anyone to buy?

Like, the bonus weapons and ring of insurance.

Tag, you're it.
Soooo I was peacefully exploring a cave, killing some Saurians on my way to Vernworth when SUDDENTLY this guy slowly shows up from the darkness (inline spoiler for those who don't want to see/know)

Surprised the shit out of me, now I'm about to kick his ass (hopefully).

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
A tip: increasing the camera sensitivity by one tick and the camera distance by 5 or 6 has really improved how the game feels and plays. Specially the later, don't know how they thought having the camera so close by default was a good idea.

Btw... I keep pressing all the buttons, but I can't kiss Ulrika. Is this a bug or what?

Found a vendor that sells a 'Flame Skirt' lookalike from the first game, caught me by surprise since you only get access to it pretty late in the first game, but it's what my pawn always wore, so that's a win

I can't decide between Fighter and Thief. What's the most fun ?
Nobody can decide that for you, just swap vocations.

The npcs ia in this game is still as retarded and infuriating as ever.

I was doing the mission where you have to escort the brother to save norbert, i saved him and we were returning to the village but i saw a chest in a small cliff and i decided to reach it with a bit of parkour and climbing, the brothers followed me and when i descended from the cliff they both got stuck up there and they were incapable of coming down, the game autosaved there so i was stuck in this situation with the brothers both stuck up there, i tried for like 15 min to grab and toss them down from the cliff without killing them (of course when one brother was down he immediately tried to climb up again to reach the other brother so i had to babysit the fucker while trying to reach the other brother) and when i finally finished i was ready to return to the village but my pawns decided to attack the brothers for whatever reason and of course the autosave saved in that moment so now i had both brothers down from the cliff but hostile to me and my pawns, in the end i had to recharge the hard save from the inn and lose 2 hours of progress.

Now i dread any future non-optional escort mission if this is the average ia of the npcs, because holy fucking shit:lollipop_squinting:

Leaving that aside, the game is fun when you don't have to deal with npcs fuckery :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Funny how I haven’t seen a II yet and this is the second time I’ve seen the games title in game. Makes it seem all the more true that this is more of a redo than a sequel which is totally fine with me

It already feels a lot better to play than the first game to me.

Pawn mentions a chest out of reach, I look at it, yep that's out of reach.
Other pawn says she can get it, I press 'go', bitch proceeds to parkour up a ledge and levitates to the chest like it ain't shit.

So just to be clear, when they say that they know the route to complete a quest or when they say something about opening a chest i just have to press the go command uh?

Because i'm pretty sure that some pawns started going forward without me saying anything if they knew a route, but i haven't checked the chest thing.

He nails it

It's mob mentality wanting to force some puritan gaming standard. Hypocrites to do it on DD2 while DMC5 and MH world are under the carpet with super good reviews.

You have cap of 10 fast travels. You'll be finding them all in game. Only brain dead morons would go and buy DLC for fast travel. I say if a dev can fish pocket money from dumb fucks like this, it's fair game.

Fix performances, fix saving problems, fix new game. Nobody should give a fuck about these MTX.

Them moving themselves if it's a quest you've selected, you'll see a little hand icon above them.
For everything else they'll make suggestions like "I know of a cave nearby that you haven't discovered yet, do you want me to lead the way?" whenever they say something like that you have to acknowledge them by pressing GO, otherwise nothing will happen.
