Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen |OT| deep down darkness

Can someone tell me why my magic archer is weak as fuck with the bow? I bbq everything with my daggers but the magic bow is slow and doesnt do much damage :(

I've purified this level 3 weapon 25 times as a ranger and I keep getting a short bow and not the revenant wail. What gives? My main pawn is also set to ranger. Keep getting the exact same weapon every time.

I don't have access to ninefold yet (though I think I saw the ring for it in a "test" purifying session I did not save). However, with sixfold I don't do anything worthwhile...I don't see his HP move at all (it does with single shots because Holy but six/ninefold is Ice). You must have insane magick stats. I only have ~1440 without buffs)

Get your blackwing gold forged! I have about 2900 magick.

Hope you dont fuck up the UR dragon it took me 3.5 hours to finish the bastard but then again i could have done that in 40 min if i didn't fucked it up it.

Edit:Cool just discovered one of my pawn took up a weapon at my UR dragon fight Violent White staff i already why didn't i get a drop for except wakestones.
Happened to me as well. Was like "where's the loot, only wakestones?" And then I took a look at my pawn. Fucking thief.

I've even darted there only for another pawn to zoom in and take it because I grabbed a wakestone first. Why do they care so much yet rarely help me with cleaning up all the wakestones on the floor?

Question about the reaper of souls...

does this guy any have obvious weakness? I just started playing this new addon :)

Any tips? I know he vanishes after killing the pawns...but still...I'd rather fight!

If there's one criticism I can make of DD at this point (finished all the hunt quests) it's that big enemy variety is severely lacking. It's basically ogre, cyclops, chimera and that's it. I know that there's way..WAY more waiting for me in the future, but at least in this beginning section it's getting a bit dry.

I can't wait to see how this first section plays out since I know it's pretty short and not really the meat of the game. If I hadn't been doing side quests I prolly would have completed it already.

It's hard to catch him in a vulnerable position. He is weak thigh physical damage output (very helpful with 4 boost items). However that is extremely risky if you're close quarters.

I started fighting him after beating Daimon 2.0, as a results his spawn area is less exact.
I'm playing as a MA, so I try to catch him in open areas were I can consume 4 magical boost and fire the homing shots at him at safe range.
Death does not concern himself with my pawn while pursuing me, so as long as I keep a safe distance, no one get the reaper's swipe . Not really a strategy .. however I hope it helps
.

I love all the attention to detail in this game, I love how you get drenched in water and it's a gameplay mechanic. It's like they made the game of my dreams.
I'm only a few hours in and my pawn froze an enemy solid, allowing me to smash him to pieces with a nearby stone. When we ran from a difficult enemy, she went back and picked up a fallen pawn to take him to safety.
The rays of the sunrise peering through the trees looks amazing after a long dark night of wandering the wilderness.

Also you can pick up wild rabbits, GOTY.

Yeah there's a lot of crazy little details in this game that I think a lot of people may miss or just ignore. There's some dumb shit too, like getting my lantern wet and having to pull up the inventory twice to relight it, but all in all I like the small things peppered in when you're out travelling.

What the weapon will be is decided the moment you pick it up, purifying it over and over won't change it from one bow to another.

The vanilla game needed a bigger enemy variety period. From what i hear DA didn't improve things much either as it mostly included reskins from the main game.

I hope the sequel really improves the variety as well as how the enemies respawn.

You can do the method of damaging a drake (depends where you are game-wise to say which drake, but devilfire grove works either way) down to zero health...fleeing until combat breaks then saving. Kill it and see what gets DF'd...if nothing, reload. Rinse repeat. I've never done this, but it seems a popular method from what I've read...and especially popular post-dragon because of the two drakes positioned on either side of the quarry. Do one, run through, do the other. When satisfied, there's a rest camp at devilfire...rest seven times, rinse, repeat. However, I'd just as soon blaze through to Grigori in 40 minutes and get every piece DF'd in one shot.

The Undead Dragon in BBI is great for dragonforging. Use the rancid bait meat in Duskmoon Tower to make him appear. Even equipment that hasn't been enhanced at all has a high chance of being dragonforged. And usually, exiting and re-entering the area afterwards will make him respawn. If not, you can just use more bait.

Good to know. Thanks!

Managed to kill Daimon 2.0. First form went quite a bit quicker than the first time, but the second wouldn't go down that easily. At least it was still quicker than my first attempt.

Got Ninefold Bolt, got my Elite Lantern, I have the possibility of purifying the Thousand Kisses ring, a Hellfire Cloak (+slight heal) or even the Carrion Greaves (nullify wind).

A Firewyvern dragonforged my Blackwing Bow so that allowed me to go further still and could gold dragonforge it, giving me ~1850 Magick total for now. I hope it's good enough to break the damage threshold on Daimon second form for my Ninefold Bolt usage. Otherwise I'll still have to use the normal (holy) attacks until I'm over it.

For now, I aim at doing the notice board quests. Got some carrion eaters to defeat!

Oh and am I going crazy or does Daimon 2.0 give RC upon defeat? It seemed like I got something because after the fact I was surprised to see 650k+ RC. Last time I checked I was at 560k+
edit : yeah, 50k RC

It's kinda annoying your pawns armor can't be dragonforged when they fight with you.

If any of you had solo bbi with assissin/ranger/strider how did you guys deal with the living armor and phantasms?

Just picked this up!!! i am about 4 hours in and i am really digging it so far. The combat feels meaty and the strider skills are pretty cool so far. I did come across a quest that bugged out on me, which is kid of worrisome. Tried to escort Madeline to the encampment and I must have been a little too far ahead of her because I entered the encampment (not knowing the quest ended slightly before the entrance). When I realized she didn't follow me I exited the encampment and she was gone. Then I ran back to town, talked to her again but she wouldn't follow me out. After running back and forth at least four times, she appeared on the road. Not a big deal but a little disheartening in the opening stages of the game.

Is this an issue with the game? I will be a bit more careful when completing quests but just wondering if i need to be.

Also quick first time player question. How do you dismiss a pawn?

Have you tried switching one or both characters to strider? That'll get you ranger gear as often as being a ranger will, oddly enough. For some reason the game bases the cursed gear you get off of your "archetype" instead of your actual class.

"Oh, you guys are fighters? Take this sweet warrior weapon!"

The game opens up significantly towards the end (not including bbi)

However, bbi offers far more variety (not re-skins)

While I haven't had an escort quest bug out yet, I wouldn't worry about it too much. There are way too many escort quests already, and many of them can be failed or lost by doing other missions before them.
I have to warn you, this game is kinda brutal with the sidequests, so be careful when moving forward with main quests. Due to there being only one save (plus autosave) it's hard to go back.

I recently insta-failed an early quest called
Lost and Found
because I decided to finish two quests in the same area in a row. Apparently I missed a few quests in the first town which are no longer available as well.

Few things I'm a little confused about:

-Is this game single or multiplayer focused?
-Is it worth paying a lil extra for Dark Arisen or just wait for the vanilla version to go free for PS+ since it is rumoured to happen for EU.
-Is there some other game this is supposed to be similar to like Monster Hunter, Dark Souls, whatever?

Single player focused with some online elements such as using other people's pawns as your own (everything is AI though).

IMO dark arisen is worth the extra cash (baring in mind the original is not really that cheap to begin with) as you also get all the DLC from the original game as well. The new dungeon is unique from the rest of the game and is relatively lengthy.

It's basically unique in terms of gameplay but encompasses elements of monster hunter, dark souls (as you said) with a touch of shadow of the collossus. Think of a big open world like skyrim but with certain high powered monsters in certain sections like dark souls.

So, I completed “The Final Battle” the other day and now have access to
Everfall

What happens now, GAF? Does the whole of the post game stuff take place there? Are there still quests etc to do outside of it? On the main map area I mean.

I got to the
Chamber of Confusion
and had to turn off. Will be back on it tonight and could do with some pointers as to what’s the best way to go about tackling this section of the game. I’m around level 43 or so.

What you should do is choose a vocation for your main that you want for your pawn, and run through the main quest in a NG+.
Kill The Dragon
, get everything dragonforged and transfer everything to pawn.

Only takes 30 minutes

-Single player but you can use other player's pawns. It's a unique multiplayer concept.
-Yes, It is worth paying for Dark Arisen. The vanilla game is enhanced and all the DLC is included.
-You nailed it, I'd say DD is a mix of Monster Hunter and Dark Souls with dynamic gameplay mechanics thrown in.

Damn yo, if I failed the Madeleine quest (even by mistake) I'd just restart the game.. that'll pretty much lock out all her quests and her store. It's a tiny mistake that you can fix in 15 minutes.

edit: or not? I just checked the wiki and maybe not giving her the 1k isn't an issue with her shop opening. F it then, no big deal.

A bit shadow of the colossus..? With the monster climbing.

Thanks for the crafting item personaRS. :)

Question: what do you guys do to farm RC fast? It's painnnnfully slow to get once you run out, maybe 30-40 k in an hour.

Yeah, she'll still end up in Gran Soren even if you don't do that first quest. 'Chasing Shadows' is the only quest that matters with her opening her store or not.

As someone around level 30 who's a Mystic Knight and has their main pawn set to mage. What pawns should i be picking up and what are the must have skills i should be looking for, when picking them?

Thanks in advance.

Are you playing your MK defensively or offensively? If defensively, since you already have heals covered, just grab two dps. I go war/sorc or war/ranger. If you're playing offensively, it pays to have a good fighter tank and then one ranged dps, so fighter/ranger or fighter/sorc.

I should clarify that in MK terms, offensively = sigil/canon or spell spam, and defensively means trying to stay up front to tank/melee.

I'm playing the MK sword and board. I don't have much for him at the minute, i finished off fighter and warrior first. I'll probably be playing him more defensively though.

Also. Should i have finished off any other vocation before hand?

I play sword and board defensive style as well, so what I did was get fighter up to rank 7 for the perfect block frames augment and sorc up to rank 9 for the spellcasting time/magic up augments. It's not necessary that you've played any class to max rank before, it's something you can do as you go along to switch up your gameplay style, or if you want to bang it all out in one go you can do that too. Or, if you don't care about augments, you can just stay MK forever. =P

As a defensive style, make sure you really stay up on your weapon/shield buffs. I'm considering going rank 7 mage just to get the buffs last longer augment..but we'll see. Also, perfect blocking is your bread and butter. Practice and get good at it, and get the fighter augment I mentioned above to help a bit. Once you have perfect blocking down, MK really shines.

Instead of getting excited over the sight of women, you will encounter
the same enemey...that gets excited over the sight of men!

Isn't perfect blocking pretty much a rarity in battles for the most part, unless you're soloing? Or do you just dash into every enemy, hoping that they will attack you before your pawns finish them off?

enemies doesn't need to be attacking you inorder for you to block the attacks, if a ranger is shooting your pawn then you could just stand infront of your pawn to block the attacks/arrows.

Most enemy encounters are in groups, so there's always attacks flying from every direction, but even if you're facing one giant creature, you're specifically meleeing/positioning yourself to take hits when they come. So you're not just waiting to be attacked, you're attacking and reacting accordingly when they do attack.

There are some great moments though when enemies ambush and jump at you and you get the perfect block off and obliterate them mid-air.
