From Software is really impressing! this is some real next level stuff. it's early to call it but I've got a real "game of the generation" feeling from this title :o

If it's at the fun-level of Dark Souls 2 (their current worst, which is still better than most games) or better, and as large as it seems to be, and the quality is consistent throughout, it will likely become my favorite game ever made.

If it's not all of those things, it will still be a new FROM game, which means it will be my game of the year.

I don't even feel very excited or hyped for it, which I find ironic.
FROM games are just obvious for me. It's like going to the grocery store. There's nothing to be hyped about, despite being an essential part of life.

We are almost there GAF. Only 5 weeks that'll just fly by.

How are you holding up? Have you made any plans for release day? Maybe already taken some days off work like a good tarnished? Or maybe you are a filthy neet and just ready to dive in?

More importantly, have you decided how you'll play the game? What's your platform of choice? Will you do a blind/offline playthrough the first time, or fully embrace the online component from the get go? Do you have your build already planned? Or will you improvise along the way?

And if you don't care about this at all... Dude why?

In there on Day One

I'll definitely be getting it, but it won't be day one because I'll still be playing through Horizon FW. These early months are pretty stacked tbh.

I'll be playing day one on PS5, already told my wife to not expect much from me for a few days. Hopefully nothing crazy pops up on Game Pass and I can mainline it until GT7 comes out.

This typically isn't the genre of games I'm drawn to but I have a sneaky suspicion that I could possibly enjoy this. I'll wait for reviews and go from there.

Day 1, although my hype levels are pretty reasonable. I'm looking forward to playing it, but I'm not overexcited. I'm prioritizing ER over Horizon though (don't want two huge games going at once), so there's that.

I really like souls games. However I'm going through Demons Souls at the moment so I might play something else before Elden Ring. It really depends if I feel like I need a break from Souls games after completing it.

Looks great, came out of knowhere for me. But because I wasn't on the hype train I will wait for a $40 sale......behind on other games anyhow

Day one, Xbox one x with a SSD and 82" freesync tv. I wish I could find a series X before this game comes out but I'm not going to force it. What's the upgrade for this game like from one x to series x? Can I pay for an upgrade or do I have to get a new copy?

90aud is a bit much for day one, will wait for a sale

definitely cant wait to play though, i hope it shakes up open world game design

I have the 25th-28th off for this but I may lose it because another co-worker needs off (possibly), and I may just give to to them and take the next 4 day weekend, depends on how work turns out. But I am excited, even if I have to wait and get it after work.

I don't care for the game.
Demon's Souls to me is one of the best games of all time. Masterpiece.
When i tried Dark Souls 1 and 2 i was disappointed. I did not feel the same feeling i had when i was playing Demon's Souls.
To me the best FROM game is always going to be Demon's Souls. I feel they are never going to create a masterpiece in the same level of it.
How far did you get? Did you play DS on PS5 first?

Demons Souls is definitely more like drinking concentrated evil but there are later areas in Dark Souls that give you a similar vibe.

I don't know I feel the same way, Demons Souls boss fights are very one note, once you learn their fatal weakness they become piss easy and not that fun fighting them in multiple playthrough.

You've been missing tbh, specially Sekiro. Such a great game.

Anyways after DS3 and Sekiro everything from FROM is a day 1 purchase for me.
Yeah probably. I've watched a few streams but it doesn't appeal to me. I'll probably buy it on the cheap some day

Got this preordered as I loved all the souls games. Not sure I'm going to be able to find any time to play it though since I've already got a shit load of games to get through.

I'm thinking of having a proper look through my backlog and just shelving some games for good.

I´ve had this preordered since it showed up on the usual keyseller sites.
40€ for the biggest From game to date is a no brainer for me.

Day 1 very excited. Also almost entirely blind. Watched FightinCowboy showcase the starting classes and that's it. Barely even remember that!

This most likely sold me on the Series X version. Being able to play on my 77" GX with 4K/120hz/Dolby Vision is just to much to pass on.

Day 1. Going to be enjoying the Overture when that arrives. Already planning on a late night that night. These games are amazing on day 1 and on day 1,001. Don't let FOMO teach you otherwise.

I'm so excited for this game. I also realize that that launch week isn't the only time that people will be playing it. If it's good, it'll be good 5-7 years from now too, but I'll definitely be there day 1.

Probably gonna be the same experience I have with many recent From Software titles. I will play it, be addicted for awhile, then stop playing because I start getting anxious about getting past the next boss.

Says it will fly by. Not for me man. I took a few days off attached to my weekend to delve in, baby! Getting it for XSX and PC to support my favorite dev and because I want my first playthrough to be on the more powerful device(XSX). PC for the mods and to have it on the go for my Steam Deck.

call 1-2 visitors if you don`t want to struggle with a boss. problem solved.

I'm was in the same boat (Series X version) until I saw the performance on consoles during the beta. We'll have to see if they ironed that out but PC seems like the best option.
The PS5 version ran great. There was hiccups after bonfire spawns during the night sessions but it was a network test so that should be fixed. And PS4 on PS5 bc was the best version overall.
This game looks hilariously bad..

Woof

It's called hype aversion, and it's an actual thing.
I've been getting that a lot lately for some reason. It took me forever to finally watch demon slayers because all the hype just killed my desire to watch it.
"I'm not allowed to like the thing I like because other people also like it."

Are you really that crazy?
It isn't that crazy. Toxic or over eager fan communities can drive folks away from things they would normally enjoy

That's just cause you don't get along with other fans. It's like how annoyed I felt about this guy during the Sony E3 theater experience yelling out every character's name during the montage. The dude annoyed me so much I wanted to leave. It's probably half the reason I never joined any clubs here locally. Sometimes it's cool to know other fans and sometimes it's just a bad experience. I wouldn't let that drive you away from a game.

There are some super fans that just want to make sure you're aware that they're a super fan. I think this exists in all mediums. It's probably a huge turn off for some newcomers and your average fans out there.

There's people that will buy the game on a whim and fall in love with it and then there's people who are writing down their builds before the game even comes out. I think you have to find the right balance and not focus on what someone else is doing. From Software knows the beginning and the end of this game. Someone who works at that studio already knows what we are going to try and obtain from playing the game. Just look at video game journalist who are going to get their copy soon. If we focus on that, we are rarely the first person to enjoy the game and someone always beats you to it. No sense focusing on that.
