Elden Ring Nightreign launches with 313,593 CCU on Steam

Love to see fromsoft making cash without polluting their games with mtx and daily log ins, but everything i saw, this game has no legs. There is simply not enough variantion for a game like this to last for weeks, or months, and considering that it's a coop focused title, it kinda needed it. I would've been interested if the game had three times as much content, but sold for full price. Then at least there'd be enough variantion to not get bored seeing the same items and bosses.

As with any game that can be given more content in the future, we'll all have to wait and see what happens next.

The first From game I'm not buying since Demon's Souls on PS3.

I hope people aren't buying this thinking it's more single-player content for ER...

Yeah, they could be hurting their built up goodwill if people are expecting more Elden Ring DLC and they get a multiplayer game they don't want.

I mean, people thought that the Wii U was a new controller for the Wii!

I'll probably end up getting it with my next paycheck, but I'm seeing a lot of recycled bosses and other enemies, so not sure how much it will hold my interest.

I love how fromsoft never tries to gives fans what they want and can go experimental. If it was America, we would have elden ring 3 coming up by now.

It makes perfect sense, elden ring sold 30m copies, there are milions of players who thought nightreign is simply next/ standalone expack to elden ring, hell its even titled in that way to make sure ppl assume that.
Give it a month and see if/how much ccu it has then.
Still game gonna sell probably 5 to 10m copies w/o any problems, but what can u do, souls/ER brand is simply that big already.
.
I don't buy the idea that tons of FromSoft fans think Nightreign is just ER DLC. Most people into ER are way too dialed in for that. They watch every trailer, pick apart lore videos, and know what's coming months ahead. Too much media out there to not know what the hell you're buying.

Nightreign is to Elden Ring what Puzzle Fighter II is to Street Fighter II. Same universe, totally different vibe.

None of that crypto mining, online gambling and force to buy skin and level stuff.
What games are you playing? lol

On a serious note. Anyone expecting this to flop were delusional. This looks like a fun co-op experience.

Like I said in the other thread, just under half of Elden Ring sales - at least for the first little bit - were on PS consoles. This game is going to do big numbers. Especially if they continue to update it this year.

If FS wants money drop a $5 Sekiro skin for Recluse. Easy day one million dollars.

Watched a bit of gameplay yesterday and it seems okay. It's nice that there are little perks attached to weapons etc but it's still full of lots of running and I don't know how old that'a going to get. Granted, it didn't stop ER, but I just don't know if I'll ever be interested in this.

I'm curious as to the state 6 months from now after more bosses are patched in. In the small time I was watching I only saw a Centipede Demon from DS1

Disgusting. Fortnite Elden ring gets 300k.
Armored core 6 gets 150k. Pc gamers keep winning …

Game is fire man. You're only robbing yourself lol.

Just beat first major boss on my second run. Fucking awesome times!

This forum sometimes feels like completely out of touch, if I would have guessed by the post on this forum no-one would have been playing it.

Because it's not single player. I'm sure that's why the reviews are plummeting. If you're not into rogue likes or cooperative multiplayer games, you won't like it. I thought this was FS wanting to experiment. But other folks have said it's a cash grab.

I played a few matches and I enjoy it. But I also enjoy rogue likes and love Elden Ring, lol.
I think most of the issues stem from the fact that the multiplayer experience is barebones at best, no solo-queue or duo options and no voice chat either.

Is there even a ping system at least?

I'm very excited to play this, as a MonHun veteran who loved the heck out of all of FromSoft their output, I totally dig the concept of Nightreign.

It's almost like Miyamoto handing a younger generation of game devs, creative freedom with Splatoon.

Here you have Miyazaki, allowing a younger director to play around and experiment with his vision for an evolved Elden Ring spin-off.

I see why some might dislike this. But I love it.

For me it's like a good Monster Hunter game. Zone in. Get levels, get gear, learn the fights and then fight the big monster. Fights are tough but you feel accomplishment when successful whether solo or grouped up. KInda wish MH dipped itself in a roguelite formula.

As opposed to the current zoom zoom cakewalk meta Wilds has found itself in.

Oof, great point—and great material for discussion. What could Monster Hunter evolve into to stay interesting and grow into something truly special? I agree: MH Wilds isn't it. I had fun with it—for about 100 hours. But the wounds system and low difficulty turned online hunts into a mess of wounds, slashing sounds, FX, and chaos. Monsters become perma-stunned sponges while players just thrash away. It's dull.

The Wilds arena quests update actually made me excited for MonHun again, even if just briefly. The challenge was back. It felt immersive, like you were really trying to improve your timing with different weapons. That kind of structure—rules and modifiers—is what keeps gameplay engaging. Wilds is missing that. Right now it's too convenient, too easy. Sloppy.

And the flood of paid microtransactions isn't helping either. So yeah, I feel you—Monster Hunter needs a bold revitalization. Letting younger directors take creative risks, like FromSoft is doing, might be the way forward. Because for me, this "immersive changing biome" gimmick in Wilds is not why I play MH.

That visceral, intense, fun, silly co-op? That's what made me play DaS (1, 2, 3) and Elden Ring.

Nope, bro, what u decsribe is tiny elite population, hell i guarantee u even on hardcore gaming forum like gaf u will find ppl who just bought nightreign "to try it out" w/o knowing 100% what it is :P
As a proof look how badly ppl reviewed it on steam, 67% positive only
Lets compare it to Base ER
92% positive both in last 30 days(over 5k reviews) or total 764k reviews :P

BTW, thats another proof of how fake/how much of a sellouts are today's reviewers, just like with for example starfield and its metascore of 83 while userscore from actual players is 6,8/10 and steamreviews sitting at 58% of positive only :P
Hell even to those reviewers who artifically bump scores of many games, especially big titles from major pubs, ER:N is only 77 and thats avg from 75 metacritic reviewers- imagine how terrible that game is if u are just regular player who has no skin in the game to bump its score artificially and had to buy his copy, didnt receive it early for free :)

Unfortunately this is the world we live in now, the market caters for Brocolli hair brain-rotted GAAS clowns.

It's not like From will stop making proper souls likes and just become greedy like everyone else though right?

right?

How dare From make a fun spinoff game that's not EXACTLY like every other souls game!

You guys are what's wrong with gaming these days.

Watched a bunch of gameplay yesterday, and not only do i think that there isn't enough content for what they're going for, but there's another thing now that i've noticed. When you compare Nightreign to another games based on repetitive coop focused farming such the MunHun for example, NR fails because of its overly simplistic combat system. I love fromsoft combat system, it's good, but when you're replaying the same zone with the same mobs and bosses, a more complex combat system that's in monster hunter would've added so much more depth to your repetition. Don't believe NR's combat system is suiting for such a repetitive gameplay loop.

You got all of this from a stream? Without playing? Boy...we are full blown analysts now, we dont even need to try games. Could not be further from the truth, the gameplay loop is phenomenal.
