Elden Ring Switch 2 running in handheld mode gameplay video

Impressive

This was at fan expo

So likely different build

But a good reminder on why most devs have stopped doing demos of their games, look at the internet overreacting over a game that still didn't have a release date. This video will get a lot less traction than the click bait articles IGN made

Also, while footage quality sucks, there's impressions from peoples there

It doesn't look bad but that area is hardly taxing. Should have at least shown the fight with Agheel.

No, it's not the worst performing but Limgrave is in the higher tier of performance taxing in the game. The other places that are worse are often with weather effects such as the snow mountains or the Crumbling fatum azula (sp?)

Pretty much everyone with lower spec rigs question the game performances right off the bat in Limgrave

Its reassuring to hear that its a lot better but FromSoftware have there own part to play in this, giving the rather hyperbolic reactions some people are having to the Switch 2 recently, demoing a poor preforming version at gamescom might not have been the best idea.

Is it? From what I remember it's mostly traversal stutter and a lot of it got fixed if you run mod engine. Steam Deck didn't have the traversal stutter but it instead struggles when it's raining or if you pull a lot of mobs or fights with lots of particles like Agheel.

it doesnt look any worse performance wise than your usual from game on any system really, aka shit, altho the footage is really bad quality, 720p and 30 fps

And yet people still enjoy the game... almost like performance/frame-rate doesn't actually matter nearly as much as some would have us believe.

Well what can you do about it? Nothing really. It is what it is, from will never gonna make good performing games

Looks fine and still time for optimizing.

I didn't even post in ign thread as I thought, well maybe they need time for optimization or it's an old build. A lot of optimization goes in towards the end of the dev cycle right?

Awful. The game runs at 3:4 ratio like CRTs.
I kinda like that AR for some reason. At least enough to want to plat it like that for a bit to see if it suffers someway. Color me interested! I'm just so tired of 16x9 bros. I want to go taller as soon as I can.

Looking around the video and going frame by frame couldn't find any duplicate frames so it's at least always at 30+FPS, would have been better if the video was 60 FPS.

I played the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in their quality modes exclusively. Give me visuals before frames 100% of the time.

Eh this doesn't look bad at all IMO.

I love my Switch 2. Play it daily. I still look forward to an OLED version of it though....perhaps a "Pro Switch 2" in a couple years....

The point I'm making is that so long as their games play great and people love them, its not a deal-breaker that their looks and performance are less than best in class,

It just seems a bit pointless to me how people are bagging on Switch 2 ports for performance and visuals when its inevitable that down-ports of games that only perform well on way higher-end hardware are going to be impacted.
