read the story.. it's buying off silence. The $750M is probably a small fraction of what he'll be able to rebuild for himself over the rest of his career. He could have probably easily gotten away with much less, but then she has the right to write a tell all book and ruin his reputation for the rest of his career.

THIS is not divorce. This is public spectacle in terms of fame and money that we can't even imagine. Divorce in this country is actually pretty sane, even when dealing with community property or blame states. What we're looking at here (and in most high profile divorces) are more business transactions than actual divorce proceedings.
