I'll often trigger a replay when trying to skip past the shot. Is there something other than the face buttons that causes replays to come up?
You didn't do them in official rounds. Rounds with conditions like unlimited power shot and Mega cup etc do not count.
3 more crowns to go. Man I messed up good on today's dailies. Back out of the top ten for me.
Why would they they not show the Crown requirements until after you get it? Thank goodness for the op and post on the previous page.
Picking this up tomorrow, finally. Going to trade some stuff in I think and pick up a £50 PSN voucher (hoping HMV stock these), I've been mostly physical for launch but I already can't be arsed messing around changing carts.
Has anyone on here mastered the extra power shot (the blue one) using the tilt?, care to explain how you do it?
edit -
Got it!
God that extra boost really adds some yards, great for getting those eagles.
so what is it?
Until I read that part I had horrible images flashing through my mind! D:It's not easy, the way I do it as follows,
With the power shot enabled 'square', I pull my vita back slowly and hit 'x' to start the swing, I continue to pull my vita back, at the peak of the swing I hit 'x' again and at then I start to push my vita forward and then hit 'x' again on the perfect section of the impact zone, I don't stop pushing my vita forward, I follow it through, I stop moving the vita after I've hit the ball, it's a gentle motion, not a flick or anything, like a slow golf swing, if your successful the ball will have a blue trial, but for this to work you have to have to hit a perfect swing.
Practice in the training section, you can keep restating the shot there.
Can somebody help me with telling how the points are given?
I don't understand how the scoreboard works. How much do bogey, par and birdie give? What about amount of turns?
Is the online in this game region locked? I haven't played online yet but it keeps saying stuff like "play against other people around the country" (in Japanese) and it sounds so much like it's locked...
Otherwise, is there some sort of scoreboard for each course or something like that? Or.. is there some way for us to actually compete in any way?
If so, my ID is Mik2121
I'll delete a couple guys that never go online on my friendlist so I can add some of you guys.
Just checked the 350. I did it in the first opportunity of the Silver Rank, first hole of Legacy. No special conditions. I had a good down wind and I did the tilt along with perfect timing. Best drive I've ever had, 351. No trophy.
I swear at times the hole looks slightly bigger than other times. Do a golfer's stats have any impact on that at all?
-Someone complained about this above but it's a bummer they don't have private games on here. It's almost like they're mimicking the PS3 release to a farcical degree. PS3 also started with no private games afaicr and then a while later rolled them out. Why can't we have this functionality right away? Not hugely terrible but yeah we can't really have a real tournament without this. Also you don't have all the cool features of the private rooms like watching other people take their shots etc.
Slowly climbing up the daily tournament rankings - now 39th! Though, I tend to think it's because i've played every tournament round... But still! Woo!
Also - gold challenges are pretty hard! I can't wait until that last course is used for some tournament play...
Did the shot land in the rough or on the green? Maybe it has to be 350 yards and land on the fairway.
Edit: only dropped to 9th in the dailies.
I would have thought a new game would incorporate some modern day multiplayer features like private games with invites, especially with a new system rollout. The way that messaging exists on Vita right now wouldn't make any difference because people wouldn't even get the invite until 15 minutes later.
Good God, I've really hit a wall in this game. Got to the Pro challenges, and I can't seem to finish higher than 12th place. As it stands I'm still just whacking the ball though, no rising/homing shots or spin used. Guess I need to learn how to actually play this game before I get too frustrated with it.
So I'm new to HSG...is there a way to tell if your spin worked?
I've been trying to put backspin on the ball in situations where I chip and want the ball to not roll far. So I push up and do the backswing portion, and then down for the last bit when I contact the ball. I've also done it the opposite way, I've also just held each way the whole time and it seems to make no difference on how the ball rolls. Doesn't seem there's any visual cues that you are doing it right. Same problem for spinning left and right. I just can't figure out what is going on. The game doesn't explain ANYTHING very well....but it sure is fun.
daamn... you guys are good...I think I'm sitting around 130 overall (haven't checked today)
After you've made contact with the ball, look at the ball icon on the lower right. You'll see a red dot on the ball where you made contact. If it's low on the ball, you'll have backspin. If it's high, you have topspin. Obviously on the sides would be sidespin.
Thanks for the explanation. I feel dumb now for not noticing that

I added it to the OP if anyone else needs some advice. This was posted a few pages back, but here's a good site with beginner tips:

How do you even do the rising shots and stuff?
Evolved1 said:Perfect impact is exactly what it sounds like. It's your third button press (first to begin the swing, second to set the power, third to set the impact or accuracy of your swing) and you have to get it perfectly on the line (if using gauge).
To do the rising/homing shots... these require hitting the pin with some type of super spin, which itself requires perfect impact.
To do super spin, you hold the dpad in one direction when you set the power, and then in the opposite direction when you set the impact.
So for example, to do super backspin... you would hold up on the dpad when setting the power, and then down on the dpad when setting the impact (third press). And for it to register, you have to have perfect impact. And for that to turn into a rising/homing shot, you'll have to hit the pin.
lol... a lot has to go in your favor. Also, in order to do rising/homing shots, you have to have enough loyalty with your character.
Yesterday I got super spin without perfect impact. Has that always been in? Was playing with a character with S spin so I'm sure that played a role.If you do the inputs correctly for super spin (UP during backswing, DOWN during impact) and get perfect impact, the marker will be blue.
They've toned down in this game when the backspin actually works however. In HSG5 you could I could hit a 4I with a character with a modest spin stat and super backspin would work. Playing this game with Yuna, I've only gotten super backspin to take with higher number clubs.

I was wondering about that. I wonder if it only does work with certain clubs...

Yeah spin always works better with clubs with more loft.
Side question: Has anyone landed in a divot? I don't recall ever landing in one, yet remember landing in them in previous games.
