Playing my first online game since last year. Slot mode certainly makes it interesting!
EDIT: Changed my mind. +3 for a perfect impact? Fuck that. The only decent positive slot it gave me (power shot +100y and no wind) was on a par 3.
EDIT2: I'll never play a slot mode match again.
Nailed the daily this morning. Wish I could say the same for the next hole in my game with Moogrose.
Don't get too excited.
SCEE forgiven! The DLC bundle is now up on the EU (web) store!
Can someone post the stats pages for each of the DLC characters?
I assume you're playing right handed (I actually have no idea if the terminology is reversed for left handed players), but a fade shot is where the ball curves away from your body and is achieved by hitting to the left of the centre of the ball. A hook causes the ball to arc back towards you and is achieved by hitting to the right of centre - straight is a hit in the centre of the ball and will fly straight (wind and ball position notwithstanding). What's the difference between "Fade" and Straight or Hook shots?
I agree that it's easy to take too much time, and that practice is the most important thing, but I find power by far the easiest thing about putting. I rely on putting because my approach play isn't all that great (which is why I'm still waiting for that albatross... :'( ).My secret to putting is 1) years of practice with these games and 2) not to overthink the run of the green. I force myself to make a quick judge on direction, based on my gut, and then I will spend a little bit of time thinking about power. I might linger thinking on the power for a while, but I set the direction usually really fast.
Imo, power is the hardest part of putting.
Putting has become the strongest part of my game. Though I've not yet reached the hardest greens. On the really hard greens, (in past HSGs) the approach game becomes my main focus. And that's a combination of understanding all the factors that affect shots and then nailing the timing on the shot.
Tried to get a hole in this morning but it said there was maintenance.
I'm away next week as well, but I'll be able to tether to my phone (assuming I get a signal) so it shouldn't be a problem).
As I'm due to go away for 3 days to the Brecon Beacons my Internet access will be nil.
Fortunately Blindmonkey is giving me a proper beating at the moment. If our match isn't fininshed by mid day tomorrow I will lose on forfeit anyway. I did mention my sabbatical a few pages ago so sorry for any confusion here.
Andy and others I will send out invites when I get back for a few rounds. I'm refreshing my vita all day to day so if Monkey reads this post and want to knock on with it we can. Think there's only 3 holes left.
"It's in natures grasp"
It's an American thing I think.
Weird. Perhaps it's Japanese then? I've never seen it called that outside of EG.I'm American and I always called it an Albatross.

I can confirm that Blindmonkey has earned a place in the final. Good luck to both finalist.

Thanks for the game, it should have been closer.
Anyone wants to add me for some friendly games feel free! Let me know what you want to do for the final.
im trying to get the homing shot trophy and i had super back spin twice and hit the pin and it just dropped to the green and did nothing. What am i doing wrong? I know its a super back spin because i hit it perfectly and it streaks blue yet nothing happens. Also even if i dont hit the pin sometime it spins backwards on the green and others it doesnt but they are both super back spin why does it not happen sometimes? Is it my spin stats are too low and they have to be at a certain level to work consistently? BTW i hit the pin in the air it didnt bounce or roll to it maybe thats it?
the character is at level 3 it should have it it had the others, just did it two more times and nothing.do the characters you are using have the shot unlocked yet? They get it over the course of leveling up (might be lvl 3?, can't remember).
To be honest I find all of the super pin shots hit or miss, I'm not sure what the exact requirements are. At a guess I would say that if they hit the pin too hard (i.e. before at least once bounce) then they won't work, and the same goes for if the ball is going too slow (hit a couple earlier tonight that didn't register). I also think WHERE you hit the pin makes a difference. :/
Just keep trying. I find both the rising/homing shots easy enough to hit frequently (not that they'll necessarily register), side spin is the hardest to pull off for me.
