Yeah, from the scans it really shows that despite vs XIII is an action rpg, it'll still have a lot of traditional elements such as the world map. I like the look of the picture on the far left of the vs XIII section.

Agito looks pretty cool as well, but the backgrounds are have a more familiar look to it rpg wise.

nomura said controllable airship too :O i think i saw it in one of the rough sketch

balloon for traveling in agito?

I wonder what the Battle Style Modification and SC>AT>EN thing mean? And what's with the stuff about Tanks and summons (and mentioning of cows/oxen there too...)?

While very interesting, these things opened up more questions. :/

Blah, how do you guys managed to find scans so easily :(

I think that info is old since Nomura stated that a few months ago that it has traditional elements in it,he said there will be traditional fighting in dungeons.etc.etc

I don't think it really opens more questions. It's just a glimpse at what they're working on at the moment. If anything, it shows that they haven't been revealing anything about the games and that fans are willing to shell out 15 bucks for a book whereby the most interesting material are 3 photos of whiteboards with random scribblings on them. :lol :lol :lol

The tank, bike, cow?! thing is a joke about summons. They're brainstorming summons and well, we've all made the jokes about transformers shit so I'm sure the team can make the same jokes! :P

Looks like Agito's going to have a worldmap, and even symbol encounters on the map. Since Toriyama says he wants the field maps of FFXIII to feel alive and for battle transitions to be as natural as dynamic as possible, and Versus XIII is an action RPG, and Agito XIII has symbol encounters...... does this mean the end of random encounters for good in FF? Seems so!

Hmm, I guess so. These really do remind me that there's a lot we don't know about the three yet...

I like the little pics they put across the boards though. The airship designs in XIII look nice.

So yeah. FFversusXIII has a worldmap...

Already posted?

I'm more hyped over FFvXIII than FFXIII.

The world map looks basically just like FFXII, but a lot bigger and possibly controllable vehicles. I expect something similar in FFXIII based on the descriptions from the DK event and what Toriyama said about the demo.

But the outside world in Versus looks so different and beautiful. I need to see more SE!

Everything about Versus reminds me of FFVIII, it's crazy! Even the world map...I'm surprised we got new gameplay screens of Versus earlier than FFXIII :lol

where is the one for FFXIII? :(

also, since some of us can't access *cough* certain other sites at work, would anyone care to describe the new character design for FFXIII that was supposedly shown? Please? :D

The XIII board only has artwork on it. The only board that features any gameplay screens is that Versus board.

The new character in XIII has gray shorts, an orange and yellow shirt, and what looks like short gray hair.

Do some of those Versus designs remind of FFVIII? Yes. Does the collective opinion of GAF realize how big of an FFVIII fan I am? I hope so.

GAF what XIII game do you think I'm looking forward to the most?

@_@

!!!!! x 20!!

Nooooo.... I can't let my hype for Vs go up anymore! :(

his(or her) design kind of reminded me of Tidus, but that's just me. His(or her) clothes definitely did.

It makes you wonder just how far into development Versus is. It doesn't seem like it's lagging behind XIII too much.

Or you can believe the conspiracy theories of FFXIII having technically been 'done' for the past 6-8 months or so, but Square holding it back for- higher PS3 user-base/working out the 360 porting issues/knowing that DQIX has the first quarter of '09 already wrapped up for S-E, etc. :lol

no way Nomura's team keeps pace with Kitase's, though. I just don't believe that at all, unless Kitase's former Division 1 has just been completely gutted. Then again, as we see there, VsXIII seems to be making damn good progress.

This whole ordeal has just absolutely blown my mind. ;_;

As long as they only copy the aesthetics of FF8 I'm all for it.

Still look forward to FF13 more though.

For all we know it could just be a generic NPC design.

Will the jp bluray version of AC work on my US ps3? I know the demo will. I will buy if I can watch the movie as well.

We're in for a treat, us FFVIII fans. Now I'm replaying FFVIII and I can't believe how I still love it, even more than before. Fisherman's Horizon is where I am right now :D

SolidSnakex, I wonder what's keeping the FFXIII team from showing a new footage or new gameplay screens. I can't believe they're not far enough to show something.

Yes. Even if it's region-locked, Japan is in the same region as the US.

Wasn't it said that they had to scramble to lock the demo portion down by the end of the year in order for it to be ready in the spring?

Duck Amuck said:
Copy the entire game.

Nojima and Kitase are on FFXIII, not Versus. I hope that doesn't ruin your day, Himmy. :D

I'm also very glad to see Agito turning out to be a significant project now that it's on the PSP (no offense to cell-phone game fanboys). Yusuke Naora's brilliant art direction deserves it. I'm still a bit pissed he's not the lead art director for FFXIII.

Only they know the answer to that. But it's very odd that we did get Versus gameplay screens before we've seen a single gameplay screen of XIII. They've obviously got to be pretty far along with XIII if they're really going to release a demo in March.

Don't worry, I don't think they exist. We're all glad.

We'll see gameplay from FFXIII soon enough. Or at least some will get to see it.

And I must be the only one who's getting an FFVIII vibe from XIII. Versus reminds me of FFVII.

RpgN said:
Which means?

They have been rushing to get something that actually works. It's possible that when the book went to press (or even when the photo was taken) that things were still rough.

Well the FFXIII team was behind FFVIII, FFX and FFX-2 (=My favs). To me, FFXIII looks like a mix of all their past works, a certain touch and well realised worlds.

They could be saving it for the jump festa trailer. Nomura said we would see gameplay footage before the end of the year.

Hellraizer said:
They'll probably localize the english version simultaneously with the 360 port, SE should be at least capable of completing both in a similar time frame.

This drives me nuts. FFXIII on PS3 is being delayed in North America until the 360 version is ready, but The Last Remnant came out for the 360 while they're still working on the PS3 version.

now we know what Neo must have felt when he was first plugged into the Matrix.

It's really awesome to see that Versus has more complete to it than anyone thought.

The FFAgitoXIII whiteboard pic is giving off heavy militaristic vibes, which is awesome. After Valkyria Chronicles I'm all about JRPG takes on tanks, uniforms and ranks.

Yeah, I was missing the traditional world map in the newer Final Fantasies. I'm definitely glad they are bringing them back.

There's larger ones out there... are they even allowed to be posted here? It's a book and not a magazine... Just curious.
I think advertisement scans are allowed, is that not basically what this is? (Though I'm not going to be the one to test that theory :P)

I'm not either :X Anyway, it's back to work time! Hopefully more info comes in while I'm gone.
