by the time you learn the basics, it'll be localized (or it'll be time for TGS again with footage from the next FF)

Aw shit I forgot to pre-order Cloud, can I combine orders @ amazon.jp? I don't want to pay another $30 for shipping...

Pretty sure you can go back and edit your order before it ships. I just had to update the payment info on mine.

So let me get this straight:

There's three SE events to look forward to.

Cloud Message (What is this?)

Re: Replay (DVD with trailers of the three XIII titles, but anything else?)

Jump Festa 2009 (What's the date for this?)

No doubt the DVD trailers will get put into the net, but what's Cloud Message supposed to be, and I presume Jump Festa will be closed theater as usual?

Cloud Vol. 1 came out last year but it was a terrible magazine. The CG gallery and interviews were typical, but the rest had garbage fillers like "ooh look what Cloud's earings are like" or "Barett's tatoo, yeah looks awesome right?" The DVD was the only redeeming thing but $25? ...man...

So now Vol.2 Messages has no DVD, so its $15. That's prolly because Re: Reply now got the exclusive, and that one is $25...oh the irony. I'm not going to pick up Cloud anymore, and not sure about Re: Reply either. Its gonna be ripped and uploaded by someone anyways ;-D

Shipping estimate: 2008/12/14

And it seems it's already being prepped or something because now I can't add anything to the order D:

Same here~ :(

Oh well I placed another order including Cloud and some other FFVII crap, can't combine yet, will try late. If not then I just cancel my previous ones and place a brand new order...

That one's Unreal Engine, unless Crystal Tools has some part of Unreal Engine in there that can help Squeenix get a headstart upon the start of 360 FFXIII port development. o_o
I'm so glad UE3 will have absolutely nothing to do with FFXIII. To be honest, I don't think Japanese devs use it that well. Lost Odyssey is an exception. TLR looks nice, but there are serious framerate issues. Etc.

Dunno if this is old or not:

"Square Enix revealed new info on Final Fantasy XIII for PS3 and Xbox 360:

- The company wants to build the game as unbiased to any specific market as possible
Currently only the PS3 version is in development. The Xbox 360 version will begin as soon as the PS3 version is completed

- The game will run on one Blu-ray disc

- The Xbox 360 version is not a betrayal to PS3 fans because the PS3 version is not stopped or moved

- Right now the game is designed specifically for PS3, the team will worry about how to optimize the game on 360 when it's done

- Scenario of the game is finished, the "Art assets" are 80% completed

- All the FFXIII games have different directors, but they are all based on the Crystal Mythology and expressed in different ways

- The game is more futuristic, it is somewhere between FFX's fantasy environment and FFVII's high-tech setting

- The final product will have a lot more variety of opponents and monsters. There will be more human type opponent in cities, while more beasts & organic type opponents out of town

- The company is monitoring feedback from each trailer on the Internet, and see reactions to new trailer and images. If something receives positive or negative feedbacks they will adjust the game accordingly. "

The Potions just came out today. It's FF related...so I figure I'd put them here. Sorry if this is a bad post. Dunno where else to put it...

Close up of the Cosmos and Chaos cans. I hope this brings hype for Final Fantasy and all future products!

Again, sorry if this is a bad post...saw no other thread to put this, and if you want me to move it...I will ASAP.

Every Final Fantasy game after VI is a betrayal for Nintendo fans.

Am I doing it right?

That's like 10 days old, but whatever.

it's such a shame that the English PS3 release is being held-up by the 360 port. Looking at The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery, FFXIII could have a near-simultaneous worldwide launch.

I'll be trying out some of those Dissidia potions soon.

We simply don't know that. While IU and LR have been simultaneously translated, they are in no way the rule now for SE translations and we don't how that affected the development. It could mean that in general the script/menus/interface had to be finalised much earlier and couldn't be refined further into development. And while I haven't tried either game, the impression that I've got from videos and board posts is that neither game stands out as shining example of translation and VA. If that's the case then a similar level localisation for FFXIII would be a step down from the high standards SE achieved with DQVIII and FFXII.

Unless you have exact information as to the nature of IU and LR's development and localisation vs. FFXIII's development and localisation, then attempting to make a definitive statement about how the 360 version may have affected it is idiotic at best.

Honestly, I'm fine with that. The localisation team will be given enough time to make a perfect job and we might get extra stuff compared to the Japanese version. I've waited for so long, if they screw anything up I'll have Wada's head!

I'm just saying that it might have been possible. SE have said clearly that it's the way they want to go. I never definitively said that it would have launched simultaneously.

There's a dissidia thread for it if you search.

I'll forgive them if they throw in dual VA. There's no excuse for them since Blu Ray is big enough

Hey S-E you can't monitor reactions if you don't actually release the trailers!!!

I mean, it's like they keep re-releasing the same stuff (with added tidbits) and think "let's see if it works THIS time".

I get it, they're honing their trailers to perfection!!! The final FFXIII trailer will be The Best Trailer the World Has Ever Seen!!!! :D

But they ARE stopping the English version till the port is finished. D:

Good one. :lol

It happened with FFVII (Ruby and Emerald Weapon) and FFX (The Dark Aeons and Penance)
Of course, this stuff made it to Japan in the later International Edition releases. I don't know if I can see it happening with XIII though.

We used to get the international versions and extra stuff US didn't even have (look at FFX) on most FFs in one time. I'm not sure there will be extra stuff on the English version of FFXIII, but I can hope :P

Yes, my daddy just allowed me to use this interwebbz thingy. ):

Edit: I'm sorry I'm not smart enough for you. I shouldn't have came here in the first place.

Don't bother.. I know my way out..

You guys hate me now, don't you?

I knew it...

Learn, then...?

Yea, give me a break. Sure, I can learn a few statements that would help me if I needed to find a bus stop or a vending machine, but to get to the level of comprehension probably needed to play most imports in Japanese would take quite a bit of time. Maybe you can learn in 3 months, but I can't so you'll have to excuse me.

Don't say something silly like that! Believe me we all had our mistakes here, please don't feel uninvited. Join the the fun and it's okay to make mistakes from time to time :D

They'll probably localize the english version simultaneously with the 360 port, SE should be at least capable of completing both in a similar time frame.

That's what I'm hoping for, hell it'd be okay if localization actually takes longer than porting.

I'll never forgive them for betraying the company that carried and nurtured them through half the Final Fantasy franchise, and refuse to buy any numbered FF game released after they turned their backs on their home of so many years.

Thus, I haven't bought a game in the series since VI.

Oh ho, it seems this move isn't unprecedented at all!

Clearly sarcasm doesn't translate through the Internet well.

Either way, I wouldn't be surprised to see a translation guide pop up online not long after release for those who really want to play the import.

Yea, it's tough, but I didn't mean to come across as a prick. My intention wasn't to unleash on you and shit so I apologize. But yea, I didn't even think about a translation guide. That would be more than enough to sway my decision to import.

I think he meant the [fan] translation guide for importers? right? I don't think anyone is expecting full release in NA/UK for at least Late holiday 09...

EDIT: beaten, but yes, the fan efforts...

lol beaten

@Zoe, true, but like Crisis Core, it'll go up bit-by-bit, for importers to follow

I don't really import. I've started a small collection since PS3 is now region free--but back in PSX/PS2 days it was harder (for me) to find a PAL/JPN system (and games) to import.

So I'm not that familiar with the scene -- it never dawned on me that people would translate an entire game for people to follow. This is really cool/refreshing, as I'd love to have FFXIII in Japanese - so I will DEFINITELY be buying.

Id love to be optimistic for Late Holiday 09, but I have feeling its not going to be until Mid 2010.

I thought they were aiming for Holiday 09 in Japan.
