FakeGAF 6: Fear the Walking Thirst

She's getting farther away.

A few episodes before the end of last season,
she had two cities, a deadly army of eunuchs, 3 dragons, and a fleet of ships. Now she's got no ships, two dragons in a basement and one wherever the fuck, is miles away from her city and people, and is about to be shoved into a khaleesi retirement home.

Khaleesi getting the Peter Petrelli treatment coz she was so far head of the rest of the plot and too powerful to be introduced without wrecking everyone else's stories. She's been looping idle animations for like 4 seasons now.

I did find it weird how she chose to stay where she was despite being at the absolute height of her military power at the time.

Khaleesi sucks. Her rise to power was interesting but she's old news at this point.

Can't wait for the red woman to pull some resurrection voodoo on you know who.

Also I'm so stoked for Brienne right now. I feel like that story is going to be great.

She wanted to learn how to actually rule people before she went to conquer Westeros.

This is all due to GRRM originally planning a five year time skip after the third book that ended up getting scrapped and instead we get to see the minutiae of her rule.

I miss Viserys. Sure he was a little petulant and cruel but it's not like Danaerys hasn't mirrored that in every way and more. Viserys knew what he was doing and didn't trust the Dothraki which honestly was the right call.

Viserys lacked the ability to see past his own ego enough to play the game and the physical/political strength to forgo the process of playing the game entirely. He was Starscream-ing it up.

Well, it's natural she sucks because she's never done it before. She's also still a teenage girl in the books. The time skip would have solved this by skipping over all that and then voila she's an experienced ruler now. But it didn't work out that way (mainly because the time skip worked well for Dany and Arya and horribly for everyone else) so we got this outcome. It's not great and is one of my biggest complaints with the fourth and fifth books.

GRRM could have gone the "natural ruler" route with her I suppose. Hell, I would've taken it over what we got.

My boyfriend's coming over again to watch me draw and stuff. I'm starting to think it's unfair that he's taken such an interest in my hobbies but I infrequently join him in stuff he likes. I guess that's because most of his interests are passive activities, nothing super creative besides cooking.

When has Dany ever looked past her own ego? She's been helpless plenty of times but whenever possible she's obstinate and insubordinate.

The only thing she can hold over Viserys is that for some unknown reason he wasn't born with fire resist like she was, a trait which ultimately has no bearing an capability to rule.

She developed the ego because she had reason to at the time. She's essentially set up to potentially be one of the most most dangerous characters in the current GoT universe, and she's spent a lot of time being made aware of that by other characters. And she did know when to play the game when her bargaining chips were low.

Viserys only had the promise that he was destined to claim the throne again, but most of his perceived power was nonexistent. The Dothraki were never really his. He didn't have their loyalty as much as he had their tolerance as a third wheel. Despite that, his ego was disproportionate to his abilities the entire time as opposed to most of the time.

I guess I'm more wishing that Viserys had that potential too. The hissy fits and attitude he threw were much more enjoyable to watch than Dany, and generally resulted in progress of some sort.

I hate Dany too for her wasted potential, but I feel that it's important that I give characters their due when it's deserved, even if it's against my bias of hate. If you do that, you can simultaneously praise and shit on anything. For example, I love Kingdom Hearts to death. It's one of my favorite video game series. It's also a cluttered mess with structuring problems and a marketing path so baffling that you used to need to own at least 4 consoles to play most of the games in their original releases. Not liking stuff is fine, but it's important to be able to see things from both sides...unless it's Hitler. Then it's just all hate.

I knew that Viserys was destined to die because there was no way that the Dothraki would tolerate his shit that entire time so I ignored him for the most part. It was entertaining to wonder if he could actually back up his own words.

These were my childhood. I couldn't buy every game that came out so most of the stuff that I played on Playstation was made up of demo discs. If I liked the game enough I'd make a note of it and buy the full version when the time came.

I don't use spotify, though I should. You can check out the music tumblr I have, though it's a bit hard to navigate. I was working towards redesigning it myself but getting this job got in the way. My soundcloud has a bunch of random playlists that aren't organized at all as well.
