Having trouble explaining it
Basically two things. One the plastic surgery thread. Its not too bad since generally I think I'm pretty lucky with looks but its hard not to wish you could be better
The other one is a lot more complicated. Basically it came up when Pau mentioned not going out with the other people she's with (though I guess it took awhile for me to think about that?) and its just my issues with socialization. I can communicate great with pretty much everyone but I just feel distant 90% of the time. I have only 2 friends I dont feel weird asking to hang out without a group thing and some of my other friends I've known since elementary school. I dont feel comfortable asking someone who I'm getting along well with to do something outside the context where we met and I dont feel comfortable accepting such a thing either. A lot of it makes sense of me being introverted and growing up in the country with protective parents but I think most people get over that.
I feel like I'm doing a bit better in this thread than I have in the past (actually playing games with people and kinda planning to get together with Pau) but still... I've had people I've told all my problems to and told all about my family and friends and everything say they still didn't feel like they knew me, and the weird thing is I know exactly what they mean. Well that part at least seems a bit too difficult to tackle but at the very least I'd like to change the way I automatically respond to enjoying myself with other people
1) there's a plastic surgery thread on Neogaf? I'm getting angry just imagining what kind of comments appear there, and I have a feeling reality exceeds my imagination in this case
2) It takes practice to be genuine... Fake it til you make it? I've always used humor/sarcasm as a barrier and have made a conscious effort to become more in touch with my emotions and allow myself to be vulnerable more often, and have made some porgress (but still have work to do)
I've practiced crying, so, like, yeah
(and I'm jealous you get to hang out with Pau!)
