Can I ask what role DS3 serves for Ghost Song at this point? Not as an indictment, just because I'm curious. Does it lend further inspiration, or is it just a reprieve from having worked very hard on the game for such a long time?

I'm just a big Souls fan, I play each one. I don't think there's any further inspiration to draw from anything, Ghost Song's design is pretty set in stone by now. edit: the biggest obstacle to finishing is really just in all this animation and a lot of cutscene scripting... and these are both things I'm very slow at, at least when it comes to doing them in the manner the game demands
Getting defiant PMs from a certain detractor, he'd probably not like that I take a day off even though he never backed my game to begin with.

Jobbs, from a curiosity standpoint, how do you schedule your work days? Is it blocks of time set out specifically for working like a "normal" job, bursts, etc.
For me motivation is a huge factor, so if I'm working from home I have to structure my day like I were at an office.

I wonder how different expectations would be right now if there had been no delivery date listed on KickStarter. Wasn't it December 2015 originally?
I think a certain amount of accountability is expected with people you've paid to develop something, but you have been accountable. There's evidence all the time that you are in fact working on the game.
Personally, this is why I don't play games very often anymore. I'm just like Halcyon and watch other people play them on YouTube and Twitch most of the time. Probably 7585% of my video game digest is vicarious. That way I can still get work done, I can still draw things and animate and program.
But I'm a workaholic and I don't think it's healthy and I wouldn't foist that expectation or lifestyle on anyone else.
Eh, I think I expected better because I like Jesse Eisenberg more than most on GAF seem to and because the first trailers looked good to me, but the more that's been revealed about it the more it seems like a huge mess that'll be hard to pull together.
I still want to see it eventually, but I'm not champing at the bit or anything.

I betcha its one of those movies where you can't talk positively about it without nerds yelling at you but is enjoyable enough if you aren't hoping for something great.
Don't think it will fit my idea of batman or lex though. Got better hopes for wonderwoman even if she's underutilized. Hopefully they won't do anything rash for future movies (besides canning Snyder of course)

I don't play a lot of games either, honestly. Just ones that really interest me, or ones that randomly grab my interest.
I don't think I'd ever do crowd surfing again, I'm not comfortable with it, and I do feel dreadful that it's taking so long, I probably do deserve some criticism but it's not nice to do it in a heckling manner and behind my back IMO
Ultimately my response -- my truthful response -- to all of it is that the game will be finished (unless I die, I guess?) and I genuinely believe the game is far better than the prototype and ideas that were presented in the original KS pitch.
I mean, a year ago (jesus..) I put out about an hour long demo people could play any way they like, and the feedback (albeit feedback from people who WANT to like it, I concede that) has been very very positive.
I wouldn't say that. They've come a long way from the dark gritty stain that was most of the late 90's early 2000's superhero movies, and even further from the camp-factor of Adam West Batman and Captain America stealing cars. I feel like we have Sam Raimi and Spider-Man to thank for that, as well as setting the standard for swinging mechanics in games. It's probably pretty tricky to do comics because you've got so much fuckin' plot to work with and various incarnations of the same character. Some mix and match the stories, like Amazing Spider-Man 2 shoving Ultimate and main universe together.
Hey man, at least you didn't cancel the game under the reasoning that the sun told you not to finish it, or release the game for full price in beta promising features that you never intended to add in and then lie about it later claiming that the game was released as intended despite it looking clearly unfinished. I'm still pissed about that.

People who backed the game originally got it for $10 early and then $15 later. The steam price will be $20. So at least there's that. I saved them $5 for loaning me money for a few years. =)
And I'm always saying in my updates and stuff -- If you have any questions or concerns just talk to me, and I give resources to talk to me. Anyone who has a problem with me should just take it up with me and I'm happy to discuss it. I always take a humble tone with htis stuff because there's no other tone to take.
And yeah, I'm doing everything myself. I have help with some of the music, and I've had to cast and direct and edit actors (which is a much bigger cumulative task than you can probably imagine and one that has been going on continuously for over a year).
Again, I deserve some criticism bceause I've made mistakes, I've gone through ruts where I got very little done with no excuse for it, and I'm highly imperfect. I'll take all of the criticism. I just think there's a right and a wrong way to go about it.
I wish my art skills were up to snuff to be able to do the art for my own game. I could do the programming but that's about it. What engine are you making it on?
