Does anyone know if the norwegian version will have english subtitles or just Scandinavian? I love to play games with subtitles on.

99.9% sure it has English subtitles. As far as I know only stuff like FIFA gets Norwegian text/subs, and a few family games get dubbed. Even if a game is translated you should have the option to choose English :)

So, how much can you increase particular stat when playing? For example if I start with 5 agility can I get it to 10 somehow?
It's not like the previous games, all SPECIAL starts at 1 in FO4, so it's worth doing your research on the type of character you want - I found this helpful:

What he says about INT seems particularly interesting and has biased me towards starting with an INT of 8 or 9.

There's no level cap, and you can choose to increase stats instead of buying perks at each level up, so I'm pretty sure you could technically max out every stat and get every perk, but that would take an insanely long time if the levelling works like Skyrim's (levelling takes exponentially longer each time).

I would love to know how many "free" stats we can get though, like from bobbleheads. Is there only one bobblehead per stat? Do magazines give special points? Trying to work out whether to start with 9 INT or 8.

That is hard to say at the moment. Fallout 3 had a couple of quest related perks that gave permanent S.P.E.C.I.A.L bonuses, but I don't know if Fallout 4 does. From your agility 5 baseline, you will be able to get +1 from the hidden agility bobblehead, and +1 if you use the "you're special" bonus from reading a certain book on agility. You can also increase agility by selecting the "agility bonus" perk (there is one for each S.P.E.C.I.A.L stat).

Yes you can invest skill points in your base stats as well and not only perks and raise everything to 10 in theory. But you will miss out a lot of important perks then I guess in a non 100% walkthrough. Most people seem to get this wrong (I also didnt know but I got the game since friday).

There are more bobbleheads than just the special stat ones. However there is only one of each special stat one.

There is also a book right after the starting area that gives a free special stat. That is all the free special points. Magazines only give perks, no specials.

Now from everything I have seen so far the bobbleheads do not count towards the 10 cap. They are always shown as +1. If you have 5 str and get str bobblehead you will have 5 str (+1)

I think the free book works the same way. But not 100%

Hmm, just now finding out that some names are voiced.

I'm assuming it's only Codsworth that says your name and it's not completely voiced right?

That's what I assumed too.

For one, it is your last name Codsworth says (Todd Howard -> Mr. Howard), and I don't see why any other character in the game would refer to you using your last name.

Just to confirm: I can have dogmeat AND one humanoid companion with me without any perks or anything?

As the other post said, "nope".

Dogmeat can supposedly act as a mule like the other NPCs, though, so it is not as bad as it sounds.

Can you summarize his most important points about INT for this thread?

Sure. I should emphasise that there is obviously a hefty element of speculation until it can be confirmed, but the upshot of his comments is that due to the bonuses INT gives in terms of increased XP, in the long run it pays off to get your INT high as early as possible in the game, because of its knock on benefits of allowing you to level up faster and therefore earn all the other perks etc more quickly.

As I said, it is speculation based on what is known about SPECIAL at the moment, so may end up being incorrect, but it seems logical and the idea of being able to level up as efficiently as possible is appealing to me.

Damn straight.

Still need to have that game, Meaty.

So busy :(

7 years ago the idea of Fallout 4 being released was unimaginable to me. I kept up with rumors over the years and SUNK hours into Fallout 3, New Vegas, 1, and 2. This is without a doubt one of my favorite franchises. Now here I am, and I have no desire or ambition to play Fallout 4. I don't dislike what I have seen, but I am taking some major steps in my life and all my energy/excitement is elsewhere. Just a bit surreal thinking about how this has turned out. I hope you guys have fun! I will scour that wasteland someday.

Keep in mind you can go the other direction with this and sacrifice INT entirely, and get Idiot Savant in LCK as early as possible instead. Either way without a level cap it is now much more beneficial to make considerations for XP bonuses.

I read somewhere that subtitles on the PS4 version are broken - is this a wide spread problem for people or just an instance?

Yeah, sometimes, some subtitle gets stuck and the rest of the convo will be without subtitles. Not a major problem, but somewhat annoying.

I think it is pretty much confirmed that INT works like this to increase exp rewards from doing stuff. Although most people will probably want to have a final INT of at least 6 anyway, to not border off an entire wing of the upgrade system. I get that an INT of 9 compared with, say 2, will probably lead to a huge difference in gained xp over the course of the game, but how important is 9 compared with 6?

Very true, and goes to show the level of thought put into this system. I can't wait to get stuck in!

Girlfriend is pissed im still awake waiting to play lol. I dont give a fuck, its my birthday, not gunna be a fun nazi today bitch.

EDIT: Also, i have been extremely careful on the internet the past couple days. Not a single thing has been spoiled for me. And all ive seen of the game is whatever was officially shown. I want to discover as much as i possibly can on my own.

I'm supremely confident this is a terrible idea

If anyone has ANY experience playing through RPGs on hard difficulties, they'll know that the early game is always the hardest. Always. Less options available, less gear, less stuff, basically you'll be battling early.

You shouldn't be compromising your earlygame to just boost intelligence to get fast levelling. The earlygame is just the toughest bit. If you level up a little slower that's not a terrible thing, the enemies are semi-leveled anyway.

5 intelligence for scrapper then bobblehead for hi tech mods should be more than enough.

Plus, every point you sunk into intelligence for faster levelling is another perk point you have to spend levelling up agility/luck/charisma whatever to get to the high end perks like gun fu and the lvl 9 luck, and the settlement charisma perk. So those "fast" level ups you got are being wasted because you need to spend more points in Special, and the level ups only take longer as your level climbs.

No idea, I get the feeling all my planning will go out the window anyway once I'm actually choosing my attributes...will be a case of "ooh, that looks cool" instead of having much science behind it.

Yeah, though I will need to see the actual rates and XP curve to figure out if it is actually worthwhile. Being a 3 rank perk the opportunity cost is pretty high.

Yeah that's a sensible take on it. I think if no two people can agree on a single best assignment of points, it shows Bethsoft have done their job of making a balanced system.

Playing around with the nukahub char creator. Does the "Inspirational" perk work on dogmeat? (It should, right?)
