Fellow Americans, do you realize how much people envy us?

I guess I'm kinda envious of;

. your countless natural wonders, breathtaking vistas, imposing backdrops, iconic skylines, and untamed corners of nature.
. your wild abandon in the pursuit of ever-more artery clogging fast food.
. your politicians, whose grandiose, inflammatory and unbelievable characters butt heads as they desperately vie for power upon the stage of the 24hr rolling news game-show.
. your romantic ideal of America, voiced in book and film and song, an America of open roads and rolling skies, of opportunity amid sparkling metropolises and picture-perfect suburbia.
. your film and television industry, for the sole reason that it has the means to produce the sort of high-budget entertainment that is largely unmatched by the rest of the world.

That's about it. If I ever left England, it'd be for Canada.

Yeah, I don't really get why the Americans think that they did the rest of the Empire a favour. The Empire only got larger after the Americans broke away, and 150 years later control was handed over to the colonies without them fighting for it.

Yet the Super power is the one that fought.

Also at the people calling us arrogant. I bet half the arrogant sounding posts are joke posts. It's called a sense of humor.

I've lived in America my whole life. My wife and I have already agreed that when our parents die, we're moving to another country. There's a lot to like about this country, but there's a lot I can't stand, and any American who thinks they can't find an equal or better quality of life in another country is out of their mind.

Oh man, the things I'd do for an American citizenship :(

A friend of mine who moved to Germany and then the US said it like this: Germany is great for small things, but for big things you have to move to America. He was saying in the context of out shared profession (animation), but still.

Born and raised in America here. I live in Taiwan now though, only one year so far.

If you think working 40 hours is bad, go to Asia. I don't work those hours here but most of the populous works 60+ hour weeks. They get less time off. Though we do have social healthcare.

Yes, I'm sure that Australia is very bitter that they never fought for independence and are not a superpower.

Let's check.

Oh no wait, seems they don't care.

90% of australia is uninhabitable desert. Told to me just yesterday by my Aussie friend who tries to be American and every way. Also, she is trying to marry one. Only seeks out Americans I love it.

I wouldn't say I envy the US, but there are certainly things I admire. I'm not sure there is a country on earth that doesn't have some love for American popular culture.

The sort of things I envy are actually the same sort of things I envy from various other countries as well. The UK is a small country with unpredictable weather and really quite flat landscapes. We don't have the beautiful vistas and scenery of some other countries, including America. I envy the sheer variety you have when it comes to landscapes, scenery and climate.

Harley Davidsons are from the US so it's a win by default.

I loved England the year I lived there.

Triumph is from the UK. Clocked and served.

So you have one crazy Australian friend. Big whoop.

Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey are the countries that do not even envy the US in the slightest. Do not even get me started on Russia, Asia and Australia.

Oh, and there is this country that is even bigger then the US, does everything better and is sitting right on top of them. Canada.

I've never been to Canada, but from what I hear it's cold as hell.

I've met plenty of people in those countries who envy the US and would rather live here than in their country. And lol at some of those countries like Turkey and Portugal. They wouldn't like a bump in income....

Living in Canada and envying America is an oxymoron isn't it?
Can you go to the beach in the winter in canada?

It's always the way isn't it? I've never been privy to a third party conversation about how a foreigner wants to live in the USA, yet I have spoken to many foreigners who tell me how much they love the UK. Strange.

These conversations took place in Europe. And they were all younger people. I think the economic crisis had a lot to do with it. Lots of Spanards and Italians loved America. Brits and Germanys were a little less excited.

Exactly. A girl's bike. And the guy riding bitch.

Fitting that they would pick a true bike icon for their subversive photograph and not a pastiche of faux masculinity, to be honest.

That is a little harsh and completly random. I just stated it cause she told me about the land yesterday. Mere chance really.

I have a friend who spent a year living in San Fransisco, apparently THE BEST the US has to offer, and a year in Sydney, and she never even really mentions San Fran.
