Nobody plays the PS3 version. If you want to have people to play with, especially here, you gotta do it on 360. Every year people are like "oh look there's almost as much interest in the PS3 thread" but seriously, go back and look at 10 or 11. Get it for 360, don't be silly.
GAF doesn't play PS3, but PS3 player base is double than 360 for FIFA.

Really no one? :( Damn. I will definitely stick with PS3 since two of my friends will get it as well (who dont own a 360), so maybe we can get a few devoted PS3 outsiders together on GAF.

Still sad to hear.

Since the NBA season is likely not happening until at least January if we're lucky. I'm going to give FIFA 12 a shot. As someone who watches soccer occasionally during world cup. How easy is it for a newb to get into the game? I know there's more strategy then running the ball up the pitch and firing off a one timer. Is there a place where I can learn FIFA so I won't get embarrassed online? Sports games tend to have their own quirks when it comes to playing.

Also about teams. I know the Premier, La Liga, etc etc are all in this game. If you pick say Arsenal do you only play against Premier league teams only?

more people online. no matter what time of the day you'll find people in matchmaking way faster on live. fifa11 is still at number 4 on the live chart below 2 CODs and Halo (thats the highest non shooter games go)

You can play any team against any team in friendlies.

Start by playing offline (vs. the AI) or against a friend until you get the hang of it. Playing FIFA Clubs might help as you only have to control one player, though that can get hectic at times plus other people are depending on you. It won't take you too long to learn the basics: "The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes, everything else is pure theory."

The only definitive way to measure people online is to look it up in the actual game. There is a number there, although it's not a consolidated number in all game modes.

360 is definitely not higher.

I liked the people online in Fifa (except the quitters ofc.). When I play online I pick Ajax, a 3,5 star team. When I choose them, 9 out of ten people choose a club that's just a bit better of worse. Didn't had a lot of Real Madrid/Chelsea people. Thank god.

And after 90 minutes the germans win. In world cup/euro. In yearly releases, barca.

Yeah I do the same if my opponent has a lower team. Kind of mixes up the teams you use a bit.

Played a world cup a few days ago with the World Cup 2010 version. I needed to beat spain 3 times throughout the finals.

@Toma: I usually get it on PS3 since my best friend, who basically plays nothing but FIFA, doesn't own a 360. (Also, I just cancelled my gold account.)

Yay! We really need to make a list with people who are actually playing on PS3,especially if there arent too many here on GAF.

I didn't play last year for a good reason, but I don't plan to play NHL this year, so playing FIFA 12 for the sports game fill.

I was gonna go join some random Chelsea club, but if there is a GAF one for PS3, I'll get into it. Well, it's easy to join and quit anyways. I could be in a dozen different clubs if I wanted to.

fairly sure it will be mandatory since it's ranked. But will check on that.

I'm telling you guys, it's cute that you're talking about playing it on PS3, but just read through last years threads. It will be the same.

However, all 360 players should be putting their info here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=30770823#

I don't want it to seem like I'm anti-ps3, it's just that every year we get guys that I'd like to play with buying it over there and then maybe complain once or twice about nobody being on then sell the game. It's sad!

Curious:

Are club matches possible with only Virtual Pro's? No idea how the whole thing is set up.

Uggh. I'm located in Toronto Canada. When I played MLB the Show I was always matched up against either the Boston Red Sox or the NY Yankees it seemed every game. I was lucky to see the Orioles or the Rays.

So I should expect powerhouse "star" teams every game?

Well, there are some people who definitely get it on PS3, so it doesnt hurt if they get together. *shrugs*

You make a pro and use him in every club match, yes. But you can change his position and all kinds of settings (whether he's a target man or finisher or creator striker, etc) so while you're locked in to one guy, it's not locked into any single position or anything. You can even switch from field to GK.

Ah okay. Is it possible to make your pro versatile in more than one area? Or would that have taken a stupid amount of time in Fifa '11 for example? Making a striker play defense or whatever.

I'm getting it on PS3 and will solely use Stoke City as my Ranked Match team.

So once launch day comes feel free to add me on PSN to get a win fairly easy :)

here's something I'll never understand, why don't they just normalize the teams online? So every player is roughly the same.

I hate that this is all there is to FIFA online.

I'll gladly add you then and will only play something on a similar level, no cheesing out ;)

Need to seriously start taking notes of who'll get it for PS3.

A random Star mode would be cool. Both teams would need to choose a [random amount between 1 and 5 stars] team.

Rags could hit me falling out of a plane with an assisted through ball. Look at this shit http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/75696984

He placed you on a linear run that just happened to work out. More often than not the assisted pass is going to roll the dice and give you something significantly shittier for no reason. Where as with manual passing it's just me. granted the liklihood of me hitting in manual is far lower. But in that situation i'd probably just lay it off for you in that huge open area the left back just vacated. Safe and easy and for some reason not something the AI is ever going to allow you to do with assisted unless you run in that direction first.

You can just keep on leveling up until you max everything. It takes a while to get a solid player together, so you're probably better off focusing on a position from the start (e.g. centerback, winger, etc...). Eventually, you'll probably have a player that's good at everything if you play a lot.

They can't be like a world class defender while playing striker, but work in those areas does carry over. You unlock small boosts called accomplishments like "sliding tackle +2" while playing a defender and then while your base stat is lower as a striker, it does carry over. So a striker who has done all the defending accomplishments would be just a little worse at defending than a brand new created centerback.

It doesn't take too long. We do stat boosting (or rather, I do, and so does Astro) for people where you pretty much stand where I tell you and press the buttons I tell you to and your stats go up. It would take about an hour to get you most of the tough to get in games accomplishments for each position. This is of course dependent on your ability to entertain me while I do it :p

I have 0% disconnections on 09, 10 and 11 :)

I'll take the ultimate beating and still txt a "gg" after the match :p

Sounds interesting. There are options to make limits on what star team you can use, but it's still a custom match where most people just hit quick ranked.

that just takes away everything they do to differentiate players with perks abilities etc. they should just have 2 all star teams. all stars red, all stars blue, 5 stars max ratings, go have fun you tossers

until then whenever i get the barca brigade i just pick spain. 3 LB+Y from xavi to torres later they quit anyways

I have no doubt people who play D will play using tactical defending anyways.

It's just a way better defending system. Legacy Defending missile dive, ugh. Not effective at all.

I understand that, thing is I wont change to the 360 version due to my friends who dont own a 360. And I am not necessarily talking about the club mode either (even though that sounds fun). But why not add people on GAF who play the game as friends for some friendlies and then see whatever might happen later if more PS3 version owners show up :)

It's more important for the middies to know that they won't be bombarded like they used to be.

The main reason for me is because opening ports on my router so it works with my PS3 is a pain in the ass meaning finding a game online can be a hassle, on the 360 is seems to work and my NAT type stays open. Other than that it's the version that my friends and most of the people here play.

Lol, I had that problem as well. My solution was to change my internet provider to a slightly more expensive one... for Fifa. Priorities!
