Fighting Games Weekly | June 25 - July 1

I went to my first local this weekend!

It was fun but also kind of awkward and intimidating. Didn't know anybody there so I kind of went around starting conversations. I brought my own controller but NOBODY had a converter so I had to bum sticks off people if I wanted to play. (I can't play stick so........). Usually it would take a while but I'd find an open casual station. I appreciated the playtime but while I kind of just wanted to stay on and learn, I'd have to or was asked to give my seat up to someone else (Winner gets Next). I totally respect that; people want to play somebody who can give them a challenge not a scrub and they were always nice about it but it meant I spent much more time talking than playing. Maybe I need to get good at a game and just enter a tournament or try and start a side tournament?

On a side note, I met OMGitzAndre! From a distance he's pretty loud and "urban" for lack of a better term but when I actually went up to speak to him he was really humble and nice. I wished him luck at EVO. PerfectLegend was also there but I didn't get a chance to talk to him.

The first 10 matches between Yipes vs Combo was basically Yipes running over Combo with every single trick he had. It was like 10-2 Yipes.

The last 10 matches it has been Combo blocking everything and waiting for opening. It's like 10-3 Combo.

Wow... even 3/5 doesn't do Marvel justice.

I love the state of Marvel right now. Everyone is going in hard. West Coast especially. Clockw0rk is looking more solid than ever, Combo and Chris G are exploring various teams, Viscant and others are developing counter teams, Wong has claimed to find some really good Wolverine tech, the Japanese are crunching out TAC infinite tech, we have the Comboratory streaming daily, and Curleh Mustache WC edition going down this weekend.

Goddamn <3

Yipes' Vergil and Dante are so good that it feels like his Magneto is lacking.
His Magneto is so good.. it may not seem that way because he plays it so different from the other really good Magnetos (Fanatiq and FChamp) but all 3 really play him differently. I love Yipes Magneto so much. So safe, he plays him kinda like how the Japanese play all their characters, bait and punish.

Nah it's just because he doesn't have an assist backing him up. He was doing magnetic blast combos like it was nothing, but of course no Sent drones or anything. He also doesn't have X-factor level 3 Magnus like Wentinel or Masta CJ, because he likes using X-Factor for either Dante or Vergil.

His Magnus is fine, this is just how it works when two top players play. They take turns going on long streaks once they adjusted (downloaded the other), until the other guy makes his adjustment and it just goes back and fourth.

Probably saw the Magneto infinite video...

Or maybe a planned surgery and today was just the date to go in, or just regular old car accident he's in L.A after all...

Haitani Is going to EVO ?

It's not too late to change my winner prediction. Both him and Uyro will run a train on the competition, nobody is ready for the 14 year old school girls.

Man that combo vs yipes set was crazy. Constant back and forth battle. Combos marvel footsies are godlike.

And yipes has been in the lab studying zero.

^I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that they've been trying to distance themselves from the term and prefer "competitive gaming".
The best moment was when someone on GAF called Jaha a "disgrace to e-sports", then Jaha and Art mocked the poster on stream.

Kimo was unintentionally funny. Dont think I ever seen that guy not complain about something.

They say it all the time when I watch Live on Three. That's like the only esports-centric thing I occasionally watch though so maybe I'm just not watching the right shows or something.
