Man,,back under a million Gil, around 900k. Need another field of gold festival.

Pondering how to distribute abilities for the rush. One boss weak to ice, another lightning, another poison. I'm thinking abt carrying a vivi friend summon and just hittin seifer twice with him, which if it hits he cap would be for 40k in damage between the two hits. Rolling with both squall and cloud to double up on the spell swords. I guess quits is with both blizzaga and thundaga.

I don't even want to think of the inventory space problems doing all those 11 pulls gives. Eventually you'll hit the hard cap on inventory, won't have enough materials to upgrade/combine so will be forced to kill off 3* goods that you paid for. Heck, I feel really bad for getting rid the 2* Kempo Gi (that came from a FFIV classic dungeon) of long ago.
I'll feel worse if I ever get another one...despite Cecil re-run giving me enough good FFIV gear...plus I can always pay Siren a visit
Well at least Friday is upgrade materials day...

Just got EX and EX+ left to do for Yuna's event. Hopefully I get my teeth into the FFVIII event and so stop being 1 event behind the curve. But for now I hear the ringing of White and Power orbs...

Apparently we got the skip turn QOL fix as well. So if you are skipping waiting for a certain character to fill their bar (i.e. the booster* or retaliate user in heroic daily) you should get them in less skips.

*-I find all but Sunday I have to boost Cloud once to ensure 2HKO or less.

All these fixes and remove all not in sight.
Nor common draw every 8 hours

Anybody here have a Friend Code with Advance? I could use an extra or two.
Not what you're looking for but might be of interest to Advance users.
Something I learned today. Apparently you can make advance go the extra mile by casting boost on the user first. You will also be able to cast boost once advance is up? I guess it is similar to sentinel book+protect = mega defence for duration of protect as protect used the modified sentinel book value for its addition (I hope wasn't fixed along with Vit0 it certainly seems less like a bug).

He does upwards of 6+ paid 11 pulls on every single banner. Sometimes more if it's a banner he really wants.

It's pretty cringeworthy to see but I think the video's are interesting regardless and show conclusively just how unfair the low rates are in this game.

Frankly, my mind has a hard time understanding why would anyone spend so much money in a free to play game. Granted, I do understand that such games are created solely for that purpose (the same way slot machines and most casino games are stacked against the player in order to make sure the house wins, no matter what), but I don't see myself getting caught into that kind of trap. Heck, I can't even play MMOs anymore because those games are rigged to make us stay on them for as long as possible in order to make us keep paying our monthly subscription. I'm still playing RK only because it is a nice pastime which is completly free (and I know I won't spend any money for it; I had a moment of weakness and paid for a 1€ pull, and that's it).

I just hope that the guy/gal is wealthy enough to not end up broke anytime soon, because if he/she is not, then that person has a serious addiction problem and may ruin his/her life.

Finished the VIII event this morning and did a 3-pull for the hell of it. Received a Fuujin Chakram or whatever. Not what I wanted but I'm not complaining about any 5*.

I'm starting to catch up on content; I'm at 109 stamina. Where you at, Wazzy? I feel like you, Razmos, and I are/were at about the same...."level" in this game. FFVIII is also the realm that I have the best gear for (2 Balamb Garden Suits, Minotaur Armor, Rinoa's Valkryie, and now the chakram).

Lol at the video. Even if I was filthy rich, I don't think I could bring myself to blow money on a game like that. o_O

Done with the even until boss rush. That last battle was somewhat tough - had to auto battle at the end because I ran out of abilities. Blinding the tank is a must!

Sweet, I just beat the FFX EX++ only losing one medal for turns.

Luneth's soul break is delicious.

I seriously might try to play the cash game when that comes back around to have one of my own.

Now I'm completely caught up on everything. Feels weird.

I guess I'll do those bonus quests, though that's a lot of stamina for one 4* egg.

I didn't think to use that to get past Anima. Thanks for that!
I also took in Carbuncle x2 (if you only have x1, do it at the first fight when you can't break) and Death x1 to insta-kill one guard (x2 would've been gangster, but I wasn't ready to sacrifice that may G. Ice Orbs).

After Advance, Boost and Armor Break, I was hitting 6000-8000 a pop.

I ran out of Advance near the end, but it was close enough that regular damages sealed the deal.

Opinion time, I've got two Minotaur Plates, should I combine them? Note, I have Genji Armor and a Gold Armlet too as far as natural 5* armor go.

Yea, he posts on reddit virtually every banner. This one was just painful to watch lol.

Would probably have been hilarious with cam or commentary considering the pauses before each rainbow orb grew longer and longer as the video went on.

At that point you very likely have combined 4*s for every record synergy known to man.

Currently working on the final elite in VIII event!

After that I'll go back to finishing all classics and then slowly work on elites.

Cleared the FFX rushes! Huzzah. Time to finish up the FF8 event

Keep separate

Is that one with an sb? If so, keep separate. If not, i would combine since you'll only be running three attackers usually that can wear that stuff.
Yeah, I think I'm gonna do that. Thanks.

Mentally prepare yourself now for the Storm Dragon.

Worst fight in the whole game, even more so than Jenova IMO. x_x

Thanks, should have looked harder in the subreddit!
No problem. You have to dig sometimes, but there's a lot of good info there.

If anyone wants a low lv friend in the Japanese version, I just started playing 2 days ago, my Friend ID is QNjeY

Question - are there any situations where it's better to tinker with the party yourself instead of choosing the "recommended" set?
I'm still level 11, but so far using what the game recommends me has been the way to go.

Also, is the difficulty level for each dungeon directly related to the average character level? For example being level 10 means that I can tackle difficulty ~10 dungeons easily.

And lastly, is there any downside for using the friend summons? My strongest attacks right now deal ~600 damage, but some of the summons are 9999 aoe attacks. It feels like I could beat any dungeon as long as I can survive getting to the boss.

Numerical value of the paintings is more of a guide than anything, so if you 'can clear lv30s' you should be able to clear lv30s, even if they're elite modes from previous paintings. There are a few outliers that bust that scaling, most notably early on North Mountain (FFV) Elite. Right now the level of dungeons scale all the way up to 99 in Global. In JP it's 130+. For reference, characters start off with a lv50 cap, many have a lv65 cap and a handful in JP have a lv80 cap.

Your party's ability to clear content is about 25% levels, 25% hones* and 50% gear. That is to say, levels and gear are really important, but the gacha system is so bad that content can range from ball-bustingly frustrating to trivial depending on how lucky you are with gacha.

*Hones and abilities start from not important at all, just autobattle to "You need X ability to beat Y boss" or "You need a bunch of abilities at like 8 uses to last through this boss rush" towards mid-high tier progression.

No downside to friend summons. They're OP at lower levels since there's no limit/filter/barrier. Although if you'd pulled those weapons in gacha, you'd be doing the same to enemies. (See: above re gacha)

p.s. if you've just started, you might be better off just playing the Global version. Yes, it's behind, but the Orb rewards from events have consistently been virtually double that of the JP version at the same point, and we've gotten many features much earlier in the game's lifespan, making it easier than in JP to catch up to moderate-tier progression.

Thanks for the breakdown.

I don't feel like switching my default Japanese iOS account to English one just for one game, plus I feel that I'm going to stop playing soon anyway, so I'll just stick with this one. :)

VIII elite finished and all mastered. I used everyone from VIII except Quistis because I thought Cloud would be a better for.

Super easy for me. :p

Also I don't know why everyone is so against spending a little money in a game they're enjoying. Being a whale is an extreme but there's nothing wrong supporting F2P's.

I was hoping the new dungeons would be released today. Not having anything concrete to work on in FFRK feels a bit odd.... guess I'll spend the next few days grinding power orbs, gil and exp.

Mastered Dollet with the mini-boss rush by the skin of my teeth. I had only Thundara R2, Thundaga R2 and Thundara Strike R2 :/ Was very hard.

Not taking any chances with the last elite stage so I created Thundaja and honed Thundaga and Thundara Strike to R3 (6 uses).

That means Vivi alone can take 60000+20000 health of the last boss, ha. Plus he can be blinded so it's all about the trash mobs + the mobs after the boss :/ They can kill me I guess.

The boss isn't too bad, especially if you're using some VIII characters. I'm obviously geared out so it's very easy for me but best thing I did was immediately power breakdown the boss and armour break(I think mental break would be much better) and have some heals set up. I forgot to bring a proper Friend summon so use Tyro Sentinal to make it even easier. Then just load Thunder damage(Rinoa works best in this fight) and it will explode pretty early. Then just power break the red guard and take him out and you should master the fight.

Well that was easy:

Look at my health - barely scratched.

zzz26gpyr.png

Had to S/L twice because twice in his first move he one-shot Vivi for 3500 damage with Scattering or Gatling Shot before I could cast Protectga.

Attention all, this event is VERY EASY.

My setup was very modest:

- Vivi with Thundaja R1 and Thundaga R3
- Squall with Thundara Strike R3
- Tyro with Protectga R1 and Curaga R4
- RW was... Tidus with Spiral Cut (!!!) for the mobs *AFTER* the boss
- Wakka with Blind Strike R2
- no BreakDOWNS only normal Breaks

The key is to put up Protectga (or RW Shield) ASAP and Power Break him. Then just wail at him Thundagas for 9999 each (with Mental Break + Vivi's Focus) and Thundara Strike for 5000 each.

If you can Blind him - this helps a lot. My 3rd Blind Strike landed and it was all over the fight after that. But it is not necessary as I had Tyro doing fuck nothing and attacking him for 800 damage instead of casting Curaga beacuse he was not even damaging me (Blind)...

The trash mobs before the boss are waaaaay easier than the trash in Yuna's event. Gespers will cast Shell/ Protect on themselves or try Blind/ Silence/ Confuse/ Berserk you.

-------------------------

Now I have only 1 day to try again:

- to master pre-last Yuna stage (forgot to cast holy spell on the boss :( )
- to master this shitty stage w/o Yuna (hate Yuna, will never level up her)

zzz3ivqdp.png

- to beat the last Yuna stage... I cannot even get past the trash mobs. They have so much health and deal so much damage :( My idea is to use Protectga for the first Dungeon, Protectga for the second Dungeon and Quake for the 3rd Dungeon. Then cast Carbuncle and just pray because I will have ZERO healing spells (Protectga + Carbuncle for Tyro). Maybe I could get RW Healer, though? Or maybe Red 13 would be better... I will see. Half of the fun coming from this game is to try different strategies and beat the challenging stuff by yourself and not following cheats like VIT0, Retaliate etc.

-------------------------

It's awesome how I can see progress in my play style/ time.

1) I did not manage to even beat the pre-last Balthier stage with 2 Judges
2) But I managed to win (not Master) the Judge Gish stage and got Waterja for that
3) Then did the whole Cecil event incl. boss rush, which was easy tbh
4) Yuna - I can Master all stages before the last one and the Bahamut one but that requires Yuna so w/e
5) Selphie - Mastered all stages

Wondering, though, how can you Master Selphies Boss Rush?

1) you need ice for Ifrit so one slot taken (Blizarra Strike)
2) you need poison for Seifer so one more slot taken (Biora for Vivi)
3) you need thunder (A LOT) for the 2 Robots (Thundagas for Vivi?)

It will be very hard IMO w/o a Mythril refresh between the Robots I'd say.

Speculation of FFVIII EX+. That sounds like one tough stage to master (you will be losing 2 stars on damage taken so how can you avoid losing 2 stars on actions? the softcap change might mean Advance RW and retaliate are the answer here...what a time to not have the MC for Josef...let alone its RM2)

Personal experiences here.

The robots are weak to fire. Cloud with Fira strike and Vivi with Firaga/ja are extremely useful. The 4 rounds of trash per battle really takes abilities to their limits though (hoping for a pattern with some of the single robot stages helps).

My roaming warrior choice was Runic Celes (first use to recharge Vivi who had put a lot of work in on the trash and Firaja spam got Seymour into phase 2, second charge was used to recover Carbuncle uses in case I needed to cast it again
I didn't
).

As for health recovery with Carbuncle? The Kirin Summon gives your party regen. Yes regen is small ticks but under Carbuncle only Mortibody can hit and if you power/magic break that then its damage fell just below the regen amount for me.

... *long sigh* And I thought Seymour was bad.

Cheer up guys/gals! We're back in the dark age! Though we have to take into account the new soft cap. It is "probably" doable with Retaliate Meta (granted, I have a Blitz Sword). I'll probably try to cast Reflect on Edea, I really don't want to have to deal with her Protect/Shell-ing herself. In any case, I probably won't attempt that fight until Monday (Sunday is Exp day, and both Selphie and Quistis really need it).

Also: we really should be able to craft Shellga by now. Not having it is just a unfair handicap (and don't you dare suggest me to do a pull to get the Minotaur Armor).

I will reach that amount. I will.

I'll also be very sad if I don't pull most of VIII's gear from the banner I'm waiting for. :D

Since you are extremely lucky whenever FFVIII is concerned, be sure of one thing: when you will do your pulls, my pitchfork will be ready. And I also have torches ready, just in case. You will not escape my fury. I will hunt you, I will find you, I will end you. And your game. And your Linoa's action figures!
