Final Fantasy Type-0 HD |OT| War Never Changes

The soundtrack isn't that memorable for me other than the classic tune remixes but I love War: The White Weapon so much.

This doesn't get your blood pumping?

Also my only complaint thus far is that I can't map lock-on from RB to RT. These Xbox One bumpers....so uncomfortable over long periods.

Just finished the game, and
man was that ending depressing. I already knew what was coming, but I was still pretty sad to see it conclude like that.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the last level though; it got kind of tedious, but I liked the final boss a lot.

I ended up going through the game a little faster than I would've liked due to Bloodborne's impending release, so I definitely plan to give this another play sometime in the near future. I skipped a lot of side quests, which I don't like to do, but a lot of them I couldn't do anyway since my level wasn't high enough. Overall, I loved the game, and I'm looking forward to a Type-1 ;)

Just because a woman included it, doesn't make it less pervy. They are highschool kids, lol. Writing blog posts about how cute their panties are is creepy no matter the gender of the designer. But it's become so normalized in JRPGs at this point, people rush to defend a shitty thing like that because "a woman did it!"

I think you should spoiler tag the first part. =P

And I thought the opposite of you actually,
I enjoyed a lot the last dungeon but the last boss was one of the biggest letdowns for me

Not really, hugely reminiscent of Dissidia but it's the same composer. Haven't really liked any Final Fantasy music since FF12. Already really sick of the XV soundtrack from the demo. I usually just latch onto a few tracks I really dig, usually battle themes.

Nothing, they're giving you ways to pass the time if you don't want to go out or do other stuff (some give a little of backstory, but nothing much).

So there's no invisible S.Link or anything I'm missing by just ignoring them?

Stupid moogle in the atrium implied that you get benefits from it, but I guess that's not a thing. Oh well, more time to explore outside the city.

The benefits are from the ones that trigger a cutscene =P

Not only story related characters trigger cutscenes though.

Don't blame the game if people hack into the game to get a custom camera or if people pause the game at specific frames to look at it.

I also don't see how this is "perviness" from who made it, considering it was the texture artist's idea (Sayoko Hoshino - a woman) to do this in the first place.

http://andriasang.com/comynw/

"Sayoko Hoshino, pictured right, was in charge of character texturing on Final Fantasy Type-0. For her contribution to Square Enix's ongoing "Creator's Message" series at the game's official blog, Hoshino decided to share details about her work on the game's panties.

Originally, the game was set to have black voids for the insides of the characters' skirts. This decision was made due to the system's specs limiting the amount of resources they could devote to the characters. However, the staff felt that because players would spend most of their time viewing the backs of the characters, the feeling of excitement would be much greater if there was more than just a black void inside the skirts.

Sample of Rem's panties from the demo.

As you might expect, adding in the panties wasn't a straightforward task. First off, the characters' legs were directly connected to the skirt, so there was actually little space for the panties. However, Hoshino feels that she and her staff were able to bring out uniqueness for each character.

Hoshino went character by character detailing the panties and undergarments, but I have to admit that I'm all panited out for the day, so if you want the details you're going to have to read it at the official blog.

Incidentally, Hoshino's favorite panties are Seven's. Something to keep in mind when you pick up Final Fantasy Type-0 next week".

It's still silly pandering of a silly idea to attract silly attention. A woman's idea or not, it's still sexualization -- I don't see the guys getting asked "BOXERS OR BRIEFS!?" to identify "their personality".

Anyways, this game is...weird. =/
Not sure how i feel about it; it seems to be in a crazy rush to gets its plot out and gameplay out, so the pacing ain't really doing it for me. I look forward to trying more characters out though.

Maybe they would if they weren't wearing pants  Haha. Part of the whole thing is that, its a traditional school uniform.

Actually, out of the playable characters, the only ones where you can stare at their butt is male characters (King for instance). The girls have panties but you gotta work pretty hard to see them.

I wouldn't say this is a matter of "female gets sexualized, but males don't", specially with Square lol.

What's the best way to grind levels? I'm in the middle of chapter 4 and my highest guy is 23 but I have a few people as low as 16. Is enemy chaining on the world map best?

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Try the secret training + ps4 change date trick. :p

Wow, that fight at the end of chapter 2 kind of pissed me off since 9 of my characters died. It made it a bit more annoying afterwards when Queen said "I was expecting a bit more of a fight."

Mmm, I had the game pre-ordered it's waiting for me at the store for 70 euro's. So now I'm kinda getting tempted to just buy it of the US store and not only have it digitally, but also save 15 euros.

Damn that door at the end of chapter 2!
Is there actually any penalty of character dying beside lower score?
Also what is the different of reserve and assign them?
(When we start mission, they ask us to choose the 12, but i will just chose all of them)

Chapter 6/7 spoilers:
Gee, I wonder who "Incognitus" could be. Laughed out loud when I saw his name. If it's who I think it is though, it's going to be a pretty sad twist.

Part way through chapter two and the game has finally clicked with me. Combat is good fun and most of the different character fight styles are good enough.

I prefer the trey or king over ace for long range, and Jack is pretty fun to play as with his katana at close range.

Everyone's level 14 so gonna go into the final part of chapter 2 and experience the boss fight people keep mentioning as harder than expected.

So it seems that I'm the only one with this hanging issue? It happens every 5 minutes or so. It's driving me insane!

I've done a hard reset, fresh install etc and even tried moving it from the internal drive to the external drive with no luck. To clarify it's a digital US copy which didn't come with the FFXV demo, running on a UK Xbox One.

I'm worried it might be a problem with my Xbox One but I don't think is as I've never had this problem on any of the other games I own (digital or disc). Again, any help or advice would really be appreciated! Feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.

Just finished my first playthough at around level 34-36 across the board.
That ending... ;_;
What does this mean for the sequel? A new cast? I kinda liked the 12 of them.
Time to go search for fan art on pixiv.

Some thoughts:
  • Overall, I thought the gameplay was really fun. Although, a lot of boss fights just involve a lot of evading and hitting the boss at the right time. By the end, I found myself favouring Ace, Trey, Sice, Seven, Queen, King as my main.
  • I didn't enjoy the last dungeon that much. Thought that last boss was pretty boring too, since
you're invincible, can't lose and just had to go through the motions
. I basically ran through the whole dungeon with only one character where possible. The AI will most likely get themselves killed because of those darn kill strikes.
  • Story wise, it didn't make much sense to me at certain points. I'm hoping a second playthrough will tell me more. Already, I look at the opening differently.
Is that a reference to the ending?
I love games that do this.
  • At this point, I still think Makina was a fool. How the hell did he arrive at the conclusion that
becoming the Byakko l'cie was the best way to protect Rem, an enemy fighting against Milites
? It just seems so unfair that
Machina gets to be an asshole throughout the whole thing, then gets to be the one to have a happily ever after while the others give their life for the world. I rolled my eyes real hard when his name came up in the post credits. You mean to tell me that, that idiot became a man wise enough to lead the entire world? I assume the both of them ceased to exist as l'cie at the end. Who his wife is was left ambiguous so I'm going to go with it not being Rem. I mean, did becoming l'cie and then back to being human leave her with a healthy body?
Is his character even necessary to the story?
  • They blocked game recording for whenever the song was played, or even when just the lyrics are shown when you talk to Ace (rights problem, I assume). You just know that it is coming when the recording block sign comes on.
  • Type-0 surprised me with how much
    character deaths and blood
it had. It wasn't anywhere close to being
gory but they were ruthless in killing off named characters
    .
  • Looking through the credits, they must have hired almost every veteran seiyuu they could find. lol

I spent 2 hours today just fighting in arena with all of the characters. After that I went to the (chapter 3 start)
~lvl 22 cave, twice. Once with lvl ~14 characters, second time with lvl 16-17 characters. I got destroyed first time, I cleared the cave on second trip. Not sure if I should have spoilered that or not, so I did.

I have come to the conclusion, that I was having so difficult time in chapter 2 because I sucked.. here are some observations:
- I was 4 - 5 levels underleveled. I was trying to do a level 15 mission with level 11 characters..not good at all. It's insane how much being close to enemy level reduces the damage you take
- Characters are NOT tanks. Dodge, dodge, dodge. When fighting you should be dancing, not imitating a rock
- Play each character with their own play style. For example, don't try to make a magic specialist into a melee specialist..you will have a bad time. I tried to fight in melee with ranged characters, in melee with magic specialists etc
- Good moveset is critical, you can ruin a character if you choose inefficient commands/skills. For example, one of my melee characters has a ~100 damage basic hit, but the char also has a skill that does 500 - 1000 damage in an AOE, and is practically invincible while performing the move. I had replaced that skill with a spell the char can barely cast twice and that does as much damage as the basic attack. *facepalm*
- Killing strikes (red icon) and damaging strikes (yellow icon) make combat so much easier if you learn their timings

So yeah..I really, really like this game. It's a refreshing breath of air after the "mash X to auto win" battles I experienced in another unnamed FF game.

I really disliked the final chapter. It was pretty annoying and really, there wasn't much of a challenge since if you got wiped, your heavy hitters were back on duty. But, I really loved the ending, it was heartbreaking to see it end the way it did, everyone holding hands.

I suggest doing the method Ultros recommended. There isn't any good place to grind and level up in the game so far. Doing the secret training method can make you level 99 in 30 minutes. I just level each character up 10-12 levels higher than recommended mission level. That way you don't need to do new game+. Also, you're strong enough to deal with the nonsense that occurs in missions.

GSG Flash

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
I'm about 5 hours in and so far I have mixed feelings the game. I think the Metacritic score is spot on. The game seems to be needlessly confusing in some aspects, and I'm not sure if I have the battle system down correctly. Most of the time I just dodge and use melee attacks.

Also, what's the point of getting that outside help? I just usually reject it before entering a town and use my own team.

Tabata needs some new eyes when it comes to camera. Type-0 and XV are both awful...

big yes...

both ffxii & ffxiii, tho more action-based than previously, were playable. whereas, both these games seem to indicate an utter indifference to just how nuts things can become, camera-wise, as the series becomes ever more action-based...

it's almost like they can't figure out a way to accommodate for it - so they just don't :) ...

it's to gain SPP points that can be used to buy various things and complete tasks. It's not wise to use it during story missions, but rather on the main menu missions.

And yeah, thats about it for the battle system. I mean, you will unlock new moves and unlock summons and such like that, but as with all action games, the basic premise is to not get hit.

You can buy new weapons and shit you unlock using SPP within the command room.

I don't think it matters whether you gain SPP first then XP via a second go or vice versa. Anyway, you can turn it on or off mid-mission at anytime, via the options. If you are running low on reserves, turn it on and try to conserve your forces.

Interested in buying the game but I'm right in the middle of whether or not I should buy it. People are saying that the camera is wonky yet I'm expecting it to work just like KH 1's camera. Can anyone confirm whether what I'm thinking is right or not?

Have you heard some of the music from FFXIV ARR?

Can I buy and play this game while avoiding weird pervy shit? I read that you can look through keyholes at people getting changed or some shit, which makes me not want to buy the game at all considering these are school kids. Can this be avoided entirely?

I'm on chapter 3 and haven't encountered anything near pervy. I'm also not the type of person that would look for it. I've only heard of it on GAF and think it's ridiculous...

Never encountered this and I don't feel like anything has been pervy so far. I think you have to go out if your way for that stuff if it is there.
