It should look like this:

NOT this:

What is right with it? It uses a technique similar to the old super2xsai filter used in emulators, there is no need for it.. the font looks like it is made out of balloon animals now.
There is a need for it, otherwise the backgrounds would look like pixelated garbage. I'd post an image of the PC version as an example but I cant because steam is piece of shit and wont let me.
I doubt there is any way around it without messing with the text. Its a down side yes but the text is still readable and the majority of the graphics are improved. It looks closer to what it did when it originally came out and was viewed on CRT TV's.

They're not crisp on PS4, they're a garbled mess. That's the point.

original looks the worst. 1 and 3 is a crapshoot/personal preference. neither of the three look "garbage"

I just played an hour of it.
I must say I like the changes they made.
The pre-rendered backgrounds were sharper than I thought.
However as much as I like having cheats, I believe there should be an option to at least disable them, Already once I accidently clicked in the right analog stick and got the limit breaker cheat.
The 3x speed cheat is great though, But I'd like an option to have it as a 2x cheat as well.

The first thing I did was see if I could turn off the filtering on the text boxes, then I turned the game off. In a game so heavily dominated by text and menus it isn't a trivial thing for the text to be blurry and gross.

It wouldn't though because that's not how it originally looked as in Digital-Hero's example. The background does not look pixelated it never did look pixelated. They've done a pretty good job in matching the backgrounds quality.
I get that. At times the movement is a little too fast with 3x and I have to slowly enter a room or else I'm just constantly running around hitting shit. Small complaint though, but overall I'm glad they gave us the option.

The filter they're applying isn't the same as (good) text anti-aliasing at all. That would add real detail. Their filter's doing a poor job of interpolating missing detail.

So. Not to interrupt the string of joke posts regarding the text, but anyone else hoping the other PC releases end up getting ported over? Specifically VIII, the game is so fun to break.
I still have my VIII strat guide for the PC version lol. But yes.....give it to me!!
