Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

I was very close to buying this until i noticed that it is 4:3 and not 16:9 screen ratio. For some reason that really turns me off. I can live with dated visuals....but a 4:3 screen ratio is unbearable to me. :(

Every purchase of FFVII comes with the Midgar Theme for PS4

Edit: Well I'm assuming it's every purchase. Haven't seen anything so far to say it's got limited timing.
That was beautiful.

My PS4 is on the way so knowing about this limited time PS+ discount I bought FFVII through the PlayStation iOS App earlier today as to not miss the offer. I hope that'll still get me my theme when I access my bought-games-to-download on my new PS4.

When your PS4 arrives and you download the game, it should download the theme with it. If not, check the themes section under settings and see if it's there (this is where you apply the theme as well).

Can anybody confirm if this has the same problem with the music as the recent iOS port?

Basically when battle music interrupts the regular music it forces it to start the track over again after said battle.

Makes it impossible to hear great tracks like both the world map themes. You essentially have to sit still and listen rather than getting exposed to the longer parts of the music. Really make or breaks a great port when they mess with the music in anyway...
Man, this will annoy me now its been pointed out. Sort your shit out, Square.

What's that trick everyone's uses to cheese the game as early as possible? I think it's a w-item glitch of some kind?

On my plays i usually just spend a bit of time and unlock meteor rain then storm through everything rather easy.

By time you get to where W item is its pretty late game anyway. Why spoil the game with some item duping ;/

For anyone wanting to beat the midgar zolom on their first chance AND cut on the grinding.
Put everyone in the back row and use tranquilizers. Damage it with Quake leave 2 character for healing with cure or item. When you learn beta use it once or twice and you win.

Thanks, buddy. I'll make sure I check it.

I keep wondering why this port took one year to happen after it was announced it would be available in spring. If Square took a year to port this FFVII how long are we supposed to wait for FFVIIR? My guess is 2018 at the very least. And that's if Square can pump out FFXV and KH3 in the next two years.

What? And this is present in the PS4 port? And it wasn't there in the PS1 and original PC version? This fucking sucks!

How hard could it be for Square to fix that? Christ!

I'm actually loving this 3X speed option. The other things are nice as well for learning limits and exploring areas without battles. But that speed is a godsend. Chocobo races and Knights of the Round will be so much more bearable. I have no qualms using them considering I've cleared this game so many times.

Now if only FFVIII and especially FFIX had those options...

Got this while its on sale.
Hope they do FFVIII soon and find a way to do FFIX too... since they lost the source code or something -_-

Sorry to ask, since it's probably in the thread somewhere, does using any of the cheats/assists/no encounter/speed disable trophies?

You can definitely earn some, but no one has got far enough to see if you can earn them all.

Beating the Weapons for a trophy by spamming R3 would be so pointless, but at the moment it appears that it will work.

I wouldn't want to completely break the game, but I would like to have no encounters for certain parts, but I also like trophies, so if that works that completely answers my question. Thanks.

Sorry, I was just speaking generally, not trying to imply that it was your intention to cheat to trophies!

I just found out the game is region locked. I just moved to Germany from the states and my wife gave me a Euro PSN card. I decide to pick this up on my German account to play on the U.S. account and it says it can only be played by the user who has the license for it. I thought all PSN games were region free?

You have to set your PS4 as the primary console on your German account, or something, that should fix it.

Yeah, maybe you should give yours a clean.

I'll make it easy for you:

Now which looks sharp, and which the garbled mess?
I'm crying. Personally this is the only blemish on the port. Still gunna play it but I hope they patch out the text blur.

What the hell, spent a couple of hours in it and accidentally pressed the L3 or R3 button. There seems to be three different things you can do by either pressing L1, R1 or both at the same time.

Were these in the original PC version?

Does anyone know what the deal is with the UK price point for this on PSN? Is the discount for a limited time only or something? It's £8.99 and the RRP is £11.99 by all accounts.

L3 = x3 game speed
R3 = Restore health and full limit break
L3 + R3 = No encounters

I hope that's what you meant anyway.

Depending on level that might not be enough.
Best to have the person with enemy skill materia use fire and elemental materias in their armor to cut the beta damage in half.

The blur filter itself wouldn't put me off the game, but it is very annoying that there are inconsistencies across the same letter. Like when there's a double-L, one is thicker than the other. What the hell is that all about?
I don't think they're upscaling an integer of 320x256 so there's an inconsistency in the width of the letter which then gets filtered differently.

This is so awsome, its like one of the best things that happend to me in terms of gaming, the game is my goat, and i have completed it several times, but with fulltime job and family aint't nobody have time for that rpg, but with 3xspeed and full hp/limit anybody have time for that rpg.

And it looks gorgeous!

Buy it now!
