I bought and played this game around launch... then gave up on it because the grind was too heavy for me, and it quickly became ridiculously hard to get my poor RDM into a party. Seeing the complete collection on Steam for $13 has me tempted... but I'm a little worried about coming back to a game where it's impossible to find a group because all of the remaining players are max level and they're too busy killing gods or whatever the cool thing is now.

Is it worth picking up? Or is it too late to try again?

You can solo. There are still exp parties going on, people are still leveling a bunch of different jobs. Once you hit 45 or so you'll want to live inside of Crawlers Nest until 70/75 doing Grounds of Valor stuff, at which point you'll switch over to Abyssea which is the cool new thing.

Well depends I guess on who wins, I would almost always pick gear over gil, although I don't even know the costs of a relic anymore. For all I know it's dropped quite a bit, and the gil offered for rank 1 prize would be more than enough.

That said, I'd still get gear lol, saves time.

The gil prizes have always been about 100-120 mil gil. That has never been enough to buy a full relic (assuming you were to buy all currency). It would get you the last stage, and make a big dent in the other stages. It would cover all Alexandrite for the Mythic weapons, however if you were to put a gil value on all the other stuff you have to do for a mythic I'd take the mythic.

Magian weapons I think would be a waste to get over the gil, as they aren't that hard to get compared to Relic and mythic.

I'll be getting a Nirvana for my SMN if when I win.

Since you can change jobs on the fly in the game, lowest level is kind of hard to pinpoint. We have lots of new folks and older folks though.

well I got back online and it wasnt hard to do but I never would have been able to figure it out without reading some tips on various forums.

I did have to update my CC infor in order to be able to reactivate my content IDs but I had to do it on the 360 and take some very specific steps. It worked though.

Oh and apparently using this method enabled me to avoid having to deal with the CC verifications steps.

Once you get a little higher, the Aurore (Pink doublet) set is a good starting off point for light armor jobs. It's also dirt cheap too.

Could have come with us to dynamis, made about 150k each in 2 hours, plus lots of AFs, its probably the easiest/fastest way to make money these days and it only costs 50k once ever.

There's a few missions in WOTG that gave some mog-bag upgrades that used to sell for quite a bit, however the items are now found in Abyssea, so it kind of tanked the price.

As the guy above said, Dynamis is a good money maker now.

Get the 3 lunar abyssites ASAP. They can be gotten by doing zone megabosses in any of the nine Abyssea zones (you will get one upon exiting zone after beating your 1st and 7th zone boss). You can also buy the 3rd for curor, which you should have plenty of after a few hours exping in Abyssea.

Find some atma you want, and go get it from the mobs. Many of the popular ones can be gotten with pickup groups. (voracious violet, razed ruins are the popular melee ones, Minikin Monstrosity is the must have mage one.)
