FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 |OT| Change the Future

It doesn't matter anyway, they ruined Snow in this game. Ohhh welllll.

How so?

I always liked Snow, but by the end of XIII and in XIII-2, he turned out to be the dumbest character, like, ever. Not his fault, the developers clearly tried their hardest to adhere to the "big dumb meathead" trope with Snow. I mean, in XIII, there are three, count 'em, three instances where he tried to attack Dysley and get's repelled by his shield. The last one is at the end before the final bosses, even though it didn't work the last two times. So annoying.

He still a bro though. But Noel is way cooler. And a better match for Serah, IMO.

He looks like a chocobo now.

I think Dark Schala said it perfectly when he said the games complement each other. One focuses on one area (linear story), the other on extensive subquests and lore building. Put them together and you have one heck of a great RPG. Separately however, their flaws often peek out of the cracks more easily.

True, together they are indeed one heck of a great RPG.

Maybe that should be Team Toriyama's next aim...combine the two and go on from there.

Wait...OMG

2 + 1 =3

3 = FFXIII-3 = 2 + 1 = Combination of XIII-2 & XIII-1!!!

It's strange, all people say that XIII-2 is much easier than XIII, but I died more times in XIII-2 in 10 hours than in the first 20 hours of XIII.

Probably is easier, but if you go to the wrong places too early, you'll get your ass kicked. In XIII, up to the Gran Pulse, you only could die in the invocations and a few bosses, because the game was so streamlined that, if you didn't skip the regular enemies, you will never be underleveled.

Oddly I found both of the games fairly similar in difficulty (I've got all the achievements in both as well, so I saw everything in both games). The only real difference I found was in making normal fights last a few seconds as opposed to a few minutes, which I appreciated since normal fights near the end of the original XIII could become grueling and tedious.

this is true, I re-tried multiple times in this game, and had to run away several times in FF13, but the only time I died in FF13 was against that flying machine right before Orphan, and Long Gui when I accidentally ran into them.

The Bestiary fragment could have been less tedious if the guy gave me a bestiary to compare with rather than me looking it up in the Japanese wiki.

Now for the casino trophy. Going to try it with slots since I have to get the lucky coin fragment anyway. If it doesn't work, then I'll mess around with the chocobo racing.

Fuck Academia, jeez...

This is the only place that causes my PS3 to pack up. The rain, etc. in combination would be my guess as to the cause.

This. I suggested the same thing when I was doing it and complaining about it XD
The information that you need to 100% a game/Platinum the game should be IN THE GAME

Can you link that wiki pretty please? :)

Just beat the final boss, got 5 stars was so lucky though, everyone was on 500 health and I just kept attacking, and won just as a Judgement Blade hit me, was a nice feeling

It's in Japanese, though, but it's organized in the same fashion as the bestiary in the game. Edit: beaten, lol.

Especially since I didn't even know some enemies existed--not the rare ones since they come by equipping Battle Mania, but the uncommon ones in Bresha 005 AF and Archlyte Steppe which aren't really affected by Battle Mania.

So frustrating. It tacked on a few hours to my plat run too, since I was running around through time looking for some of the enemies in the wrong places before I started using the wiki.

And my PS3 dies for the second time in 10 minutes while in Academia and a battle is instigated. Lovely. How the fuck am I supposed to get anything done when I'm constantly worrying about whether or not the next fight I can't help but get in to could cause a crash because of SE's fucktarded design for the place? Cunts.

Love the game, wish they would implement side quests a better way, I dont want to go searching for artifacts just to do the side stuff, also if you do the side quest the game becomes very easy.

Can't seem to capture Purple Chocobo. Is he worth the effort? Also, I'm interested in the SEN Flan in Sunleth but can't get him either. Either of those worth it?

Still having trouble figuring out when to fuse monsters and move on to the next one. Been using the same COM (Uridimmu) for like 2 chapters now and finally upgraded my RAV (from Albino Lobo to Circultron). Any tips? I really want to use my Behemoth soon!

Just got to Episode 6 and I decided to do some more side-stuff.

It really blows my mind how SE decided to balance this game.
I mean, there is pretty much absolutely no way to even get to 100AF Bresha Ruins without going through the Dying World. I get there, and I'm still fighting crappy enemies from hours ago. The things aren't even close to being as strong as the Dying World enemies, which are also pretty bad too. I decided to get all the fragments after hearing that there is a paradox boss involved in the end. And after the game hypes up said monster, it's also down in under a minute flat. And the post-cutscenes is pretty much Sarah being like "that was such a terrible monster!

They did really goof in the new design of Snow, looking to me like a chocobo-haired surfer-dude rapper...or something...I was alright with him in the relatively restrained FFXIII style. That plus he comes off as more brusque even with Serah this time, though it seems there is more going on that he is keeping to himself based on some of the questions Serah can be made to ask him.

If more fully featured in the next game though I'd bet he and Noel would have some entertaining back and forth. Such as in the middle of the ending sequences, Noel
smacks his fists together jovially when they mention seeking Snow among others
. But then that is also what makes Noel an excellent character, along with managing to look like a normal guy without looking boring. Nice contrast with those absurd blue-haired and rooster-headed NORA bunch (Lebreau is alright though...ahem).

Anyway, from the perspective of someone choosing a character as his representative in-game, Noel is a very agreeable choice. At least until they give him a purple mohawk in the next game.

(though I still prefer my rpg characters to be "older", which FFXIII was good with--Snow, Lightning, Sazh, Fang, and like Lost Odyssey, FFXII, western rpgs)

What does the bestiary on the japanese wiki do that's special?

There is a perfectly simple and good list on GameFAQs in english, that I used.

I used the Gamefaqs one as well to find the one I was missing after I went to him. A Navidon. Leveling that one up and using him just because he eluded me to the last.

So, how much do I have left after
Lightning explains everything in New Bodhum 700AF
? It doesn't seem like it should be quite over yet but a lot of the dialogue has been very end of the game ish.

Very little.
Basically, the final dungeon.

But you go for the buff guys anyway! :D

I go for the snarky/funny, somewhat knowledgeable boy-next-door types, I guess. I'm boring.

I like snarky and smart too, but you can't cross the douche line, and just the pants alone push him over the edge. (Plus, I'm pretty sure Etro and Lighting are hiding in there.)

Particularly VI?

VI!?

What?
Yes...I did not like the mogs in VI. Hated them.

Naw, naw, this is the cutest moogle in FF.

This one.

Right here.

Stiltzkin and FFVI Mog are pretty up there. FFVI Mog is a useful Geomancer. And Stiltzkin is just great on his own.

Yes. His design really makes me want to punch him in the face several times. Not to mention his voice. I genuinely dislike his design. At least the Crystal Chronicles moogles were all puffy and cute. And the moogles in Ivalice are all smart and stuff. FFXIII-2 Mog is... ugh.

And don't get me started on Chocolina.
Mog's design? Its pretty much how I imagined a Moogle from pre-FFVII game to look like in 3D.

I just don't see what's so great about Noel! (._. )

Same here....omg someone finally don't think Noel is hot stuff. I don't see what so great about him either. Serah's and Mog's interactions made the game for me.

I like how Serah never goes after Noel too. She likes better men, like Snow. ^_^

I didn't realize I was so close to the end. I probably could have just beaten it tonight. Oh well, I'll finish it off next weekend. Or maybe I'll get a little in tomorrow.

Maybe those MC Hammer pants were the only pants left in his time period! (I know they're fishing pants made to fit into the Asian/South Asian fashion style of Pulse, but they're pretty lame.)

Etro's in Caius's Riku-Dark Mode armour. He stole part of Lightning's feather armour to make his feather hat.

I thought I had a little bit more stuff to do before going back to Archylte and totally rocking the extra bosses in the face. I guess I'll do that first.

yeah but holy shit, story wise it's like half the length of the other FF titles. wow!

If you are concerned about the length of the game, you can sort of artificially increase it by talking to all NPCs till they start repeating themselves! It's what I did and I platinumed it after 63 hours, most people seem to take 50 so... :p.
I really enjoyed talking to each NPC or hearing their random banter as I passed by, a lot have things to say that made me feel like the game had a lot of charm and a pretty fleshed out world, silly plot nonwithstanding.

Well, most of the length in older titles was spent on stupid padded shit. "Well we would help BUT you should go to this random temple and find this item for us ok?"

Semantics, I guess. None of the past titles felt short to me and I could always see their end coming. But here I thought I was like a little over halfway through the story.
