FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 |OT| Change the Future

From what I understood from the demo, it doesn't matter. The skills are dependent on the levels in which you learn them, not what sphere you get them on.

So, if Serah will learn Steelguard at Level X, she will learn it at level X no matter if you decide to level up something else on the sphere. What the spheres are for are little nodes that will become whatever you want them to become. Think of them like pluripotent cells--they're programmed to become certain somatic cells because you told them what they should be. So basically, she'll learn both skills because they're fixed to a certain role level, yeah?

Just note that bigger spheres will grant role bonuses to the character. I plan on leveling up Noel's Commando on those bigger spheres because he'll get the ATK bonus, and Serah's RAV to give her the MAG bonus.

Thanks, it all makes sense now! The explanation in game doesn't tell you anything really

So it automatically detects the FFXIII save?

...gosh, I wonder which save it used? I have four from the JP version and 5 from the ENG version for my NA profile/account.

You're welcome. The game/datalog's explanation seemed a little dodgy when I read it for the first time in the demo.

Nevermind about that quest. It's in the tour guide section, away from the walkthrough section. I guess thats what the 2 bookmarks are for. :) Was wondering where the maps were.

I was actually hoping they would cut them. I hate vocals in in-game music. It's distracting.

I like it. But the heavy metal I really don't like. I liked the technoish one. About the framerate. Its worse on the 360? Its pretty bad on PS3.

In Noels Crystarium system I just gave him Commando boost..I have no idea what it did. Someone enlighten me
Boosted the role. So if you deal more damage, you'll be able to defeat enemies more quickly. Each role has a bonus.

So, for RAV crystarium expanded bonus boost, it'd increase the ability for the RAV attacks to chain faster. SEN crystarium expanded bonus boost will decrease the damage enemies' attacks would give you even more. SAB crystarium expanded bonus boost will allow for debuffs to stick better. SYN crystarium expanded bonus boost will increase the duration of your buffs. And MED crystarium expanded bonus boost will allow for the cure spells to heal more.

There are two Bonus Boosts per role. It's up to you to decide which ones you need more.

I'd encourage players to do the SAB and MED ones first, personally, if they decide to go for their Crystarium Expanded bonuses that way.

So any word on whether the final US version still features the original JP soundtrack? Have the lyrics been axed like in the demo?

They removed the lyrics from the Bresha music in the final game as well, unfortunately. It's such a stupid decision, I can't understand why they would do that. It was quite meaningful in the Japanese game.

Other than that, the soundtrack is the same. They even used the Jap versions of "Serah's Theme" and "Sunleth Waterscape" from FFXIII -- these songs were in English even in the Japanese game but they changed the lyrics a bit in the US version of FFXIII, for whatever stupid reason from the loc team.

So... Boss battle music against
Gogmagog
at the beginning of the game... WTF. Scream-o? I haven't heard that on the OST.

Okay, so outside of the leveling stuff, Is there anything important for me to know before I start this game up? Anything important that can be missed or screwed up? Is this a "guide heavy" type game, or can you always go back and do whatever?

Edit: Also, does this game still have the weapon system where you just don't upgrade anything until the end of the game where you just pick one weapon to upgrade?

Not really enjoying the intro sequence now that I'm playing it. -_-

No, the game doesn't have the same craptastic weapon system as FFXIII, thank goodness.

You can reverse time to redo areas to get things that you missed. Don't sweat anything. If you want to get all 160 fragments and are having issues with it, you may have to consult a guide.

Did I miss a Libra skill or is it librascopes all the way now?
No Libra. And apparently Librascopes aren't common. You can get them at the casino if you exchange coins for them, but they're pretty expensive.

"You're finished, Caius!"

I bought the "official" Piggyback guide. It's cheap and if there's one thing I learnt from FFXIII there's a fuckton of tables that are better off being documented by someone else.

Just watched this too. Both awesome and hilarious.

First FF game on my 60" plasma. It's glorious.

This is my first on my 1080p 40" TV.

I played XIII when I didn't have a job on a shitty 19" CRT so I have a feeling no matter how people will feel about the comparisons to XIII in the graphical department, i'll love how awesome it looks visually because of what i'm coming from.

So no DLC is out for NA? Without preorder codes that is. That bites, you'd think SE would want the DLC for this game to come out day 1 of the game.

This is a lot better than XIII was, that's for sure. I don't really mind the fluffy settings and concepts, I'm just too used to this shit by now but I don't understand why they can't take these gameplay-heavy second passes like X-2 and XIII-2 and tie 'em to a less bubbly aesthetic. Seems like it'd be pretty popular.

Anyone know how much longer the S-E Members site is going to be down? I just tried to register the game and saw that it was still down.

"You're finished" is her saying for Army of One, which she performs on Caius, which I liked. /handwringing

The new Crystarium is confusing... if I upgrade one node do they all get upgraded? Not sure I like this new Crystarium...

Small balls are just level upgrades which provide a fixed amount of stats
Large balls are "role upgrades" which give stats according to which role you use to upgrade them.

Abilities come with role levels and aren't attached to any particular ball on the grid.

I <3 Chocolina. Wow.

Wish I could beat her up with a baseball bat.

To think that she pisses me off more than Yuffie is saying a lot.

Selphie is better than those 2.

But they still kinda piss me off for some reason. Oddly enough Serah I like. Serah has an underage would factor going for her.

Do I get the skills for each role even if I upgrade it for a different role?

edit: Answered that for myself and you don't. Ugh, doodoo crystarium

WHERE DID THESE CLOTHES COME FROM?! D:

Yeah, they're clashy, aren't they? Even Serah knows her outfit sucks! Time to change into Summoner's Outfit because at least that's better.
