FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 |OT| Change the Future

Thanks you very much ! So, I have nothing to fear about the
Gigantic Pampas
? That's a good new. Once again, thank you !

Is that a monster? (sorry dont know the english names). Possibly the big cactuar is a rare monster too.

So I just fought some behemoths, Jesus Christ harder than bosses so far.

Thankfully one of them dropped for me and I feel like a boss with him in the party now to level it up... lol

Also I'm re-doing a certain fight past the part of the behemoth area, Anima JR seems to have alot of hp an I got 1 star post fight... I want to do better.. I didn't save after meeting you know who and dat ass girl.

Yup. You can find it in Archyte Steppes, after you
examine a green Pampa statue
. It's called
Pampa Jumbo (at least in French, sorry, I don't have a clue about his English name) and is a Tactician.
I also encountered
Pampa Senior, Defender
in the same aera.

Speaking of Alyssa...has she never heard of pants? I mean seriously how does she make those short shorts work?!

Okay...I'm totally sucked into this game lol. I started playing at 9PM...8 hours later and it's almost 5AM. Didn't even notice the time.

BTW where I can find the
Gravity Cores that Alyssa wants? I hate Academia 400 AF due to the battles being forced and them popping up when u don't want them too
Also, where's a good place to farm for level up material for rank 3 and 4 monsters?

Loads fine for me.

I farmed crystals from kochus(or whatever they named in the eng version) in the stepps, I think rain weather. Its 4-5 crystals each fight and they spawn frequently.

Thanks, will go farm them later after I get my silver chocobo.

I'm still trying to capture a Blue one here... That one really doesn't want to join me. Oh well, at least my Pulse Knight is useful against this one.

I wonder if I should beat the game today, or more fragment hunt. :P I have like 92 fragments now. I still don't have Bresha Ruins 100 AF or Sunleth 400 AF unlocked yet. :(

Can someone tell me how I can go about 5 starring the final boss, on the first encounter with him? I really want that trophy and Noel PS3 theme.

I did it on my first attempt. I had pretty good monsters. A somewhat upgraded Chichhu/Kichu, a fully developed Flanitor for healing, I didn't have a Green Chocobo, Flanitor worked great, it's Feral Link ability is very handy too and "Forgot it's Name" as SYN, it's the one that has a "dance" for it's Feral Link ability that gives lots of buffs and heals blood damage too, I forgot what they are called >_< I upgraded it quite a bit too but not maxed out. There is a accessory that boosts the rate sync bar fills, it makes Feral link abilities happen far more often, I had that, I don't remember what it was called again it's been a while since I played.

I had RAV/BLA role maxed out for Serah. MEDIC was like level 70-80 and other roles were 20-40 something. Noel had COM/RAV/SAB/SEN at around 60, the other two roles were not unlocked.

The fight was very easy thanks to the SYN.

Well, all the stuff in Chapter 5, fell in under 40 seconds. My Noel is a 99 rav, 99 com and 40 or so synergist. My Serah is a 99 rav, 99 medic and 40 or so saboteur. The only monsters I've been messing with the whole game is a Cloudburst and a Yellow Chocobo. I really haven't needed anything else. Is a SEN mandatory for the fight? I do have a Silver Chocobo, but he is only lvl 10. Oh and I do have that hat, that improves potion healing. That has been like my other medic. Mostly using rav/rav/rav, rav/med/rav, com/rav/com.

I used Noel and Serah as SEN. I had a SEN/SEN/MED paradigm.

Have to say, i'm enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would. I liked FFXIII but I just wasn't expecting this game to grab me, it has already. Was kind of dissapointed that Serah is the main character but I like her now. I'm also starting to like those dweebs in Snows crew. I played the Japanese FFXIII so maybe I just like the English voice overs for these characters.

Music has been outstanding so far but this was one area I knew would be solid. I'll keep on playing next week. It's hated but I like the FFXIII universe.

By the way, I'll share the paradigms that I've used (unchanged) from start to finish and I didn't have much trouble at all:

Noel/Serah/Monster
COM/RAV/COM
COM/RAV/RAV
COM/RAV/MED
COM/MED/COM
SYN/SAB/MED
SEN/SEN/MED

My COM monster is Dragoon, RAV is the red boss goblin, and MED is Flanitor.

This are the exact paradigms I've used in XIII. :p

I'm going to play the demo tomorrow (well, I hope I will have time for this), this will be my first experience of traditional JRPG. I hope I'll like it.

You know, I see some people say the story in this is confusing (and a lot also said that about FFXIII). I don't know why, I mean I understood the story perfectly fine in XIII (without use of the datalog) and in this, I understood it fine as well.

I also liked the story, only bit I didn't like that much was
the ending. Mainly because I'm the type of guy who prefers happy endings :( I've not completed the game but when I was streaming, some idiot did come in and spoil the whole thing. Before that, I only knew of the To Be Continued part, not the rest of it. :/

Apart from that, I liked it, not sure if I like it more or less than FFXIII but I still liked it.

But as a whole, it's a better GAME than XIII... although if they do finish the whole story as DLC, I hope it happens sooner rather than later. Although I guess it is smart, they can delay FF15 until the next generation since they will want Toriyama on it but he won't do it until he finishes XIII-2.

I can think of at least one thing I dislike though... I don't mind his character designs but damnit Nomura... why so many belts? God, I would love a new director and a new character designer other than Nomura/Toriyama for FF15 just to see how different it would be personally.

But I doubt Wada will want to put new people to work on FF15, instead it will be those two... for the next 5 years or so until after FF20.

I'll ask again on this page as my previous post was pretty much before the change of page:

I've scoured places like the second area you go to for ages looking for the last 1 or 2 fragments but to no avail. There are like two areas I can't get to, plus a treasure chest that I can't access
on Atlas's finger
as I just jump right past it.

How do I change the area to allow acquirement? Please don't spoil me with story stuff. The closing and opening of gates confuses me as I still don't fully understand how it affects areas and allows me to get to places/items I couldn't before. Or do I have to return at a later date in the game? Also applies to side-missions that can't seem to be completed.

Nomura didn't design the characters in this one.

You'll need to return later to get those. Notably,
after getting a certain Mog ability in Sunleth Waterscape

As for closing of gates, that lets you redo areas. Useful if you need to do it again for 5-starring or 100% the Cinematic Actions or just defeating a boss a certain way again.

Thanks.

So closing gates just resets the areas rather than changing them in any way. Ok. If I do fight a boss again, do I still get EXP? Isn't that cheesing the game a bit? :lol

After encountering a Long Gui (and just like XIII proper, it opens up with Ultima), are normal Adamantoises in the game?

Nomura didn't design the characters in this one.

Did he not?

Still, playing other games like Tales of Xillia reminds me how nice it is not to have characters with belts and belts and more belts.

Still, the games awesome, going to be finishing it today, and then get to work on the paradox endings and finding the wild artefacts that I haven't got (is there any easy way to get them? As in, something that shows where you got previous artefacts? If not, I'll have a lot of hunting to do ;_; ) and fragments of course.

Just beat it. Re: last boss

Lost the first time; got him down to pretty minimal health but then he re-summoned the other two bahamuts and then cast Giga Flare which killed my whole party. Second try, Serah's Deprotect actually worked on him and he died after a single stagger. So try to get deprotect or deshell off on him!

yeah the only thing nomura did in this was to design character faces.

Btw regarding your previous comment, I really think that Toriyama will not be doing ff 15. Mainly because he already said he's moving onto another project and kitase hasn't shared similar sentiments yet so that could be a break up of that 'dynamic duo' and it seems that toriyama is the one who's leaving.
my second reason why i think toriyama won't be doing ff 15 is because Ito is quietly working on an unanounced project for quite some time. And let's see he did FF 6, 9 and 12...seeing the pattern here ;)

I managed to get a Metallicactuar while running around in
A Dying World
. It kinda took me by surprise since I was spacing out while grinding CP for about 25 mins and didn't encounter it once 'til now.

I'd be very happy if it turns out he is working on FFXV. FFIX and FFXII are two of my favourite FFs!

The opening 20 minutes is completely incoherent. Fortunately the next bits do a good job of suggesting it was meant to be, and the rest of the plot is about finding out what was happening there! Or at least I hope that's the case.

Hmm... interesting. Hope that's true then.

I'm liking this game so far but I'm starting to hate a certain location with passion. It's
Academia in all eras. I don't know if there are more than 400, 4XX and 500 but each of them has something horrible. 400 has that encounter rate (and I only have like two fragments), 4XX has those random quizzes and I haven't finished 500 yet but I don't like those little areas with a group of little monsters that summon those powerful behemoths and the like.

Does the game get harder at some point? I'm still early in but it's piss easy so far. Kind of worried it'll stay this way.

The final dungeon has a couple of interesting fights. Even the final boss is pretty easy imo. After end game you can try to fight the stronger form of some of the bosses, and there are some rare encounters that are somewhat good. that's about it.

The post-game monsters/bosses are pretty hard for me. I've got 3 roles maxed already.

The end of this game is such bullshit. Not the ending. The end. The same way FFXIII became full stupid.

Damn. That King Flandragora bitch took me 45 minutes.. in easy! And it's like the 2nd boss.. god I'm afraid to keep playing (10000 HP + healing WTF?)

At least XIII concluded something. :P

Is there some trick for
Academia quizzes? There are some strange questions I think I can't know the answer (Nautilus song, etc.) or the luck questions (I've figured the black/red, even/odds ones, but not the others).

The quizzes are just shit. Easiest is to have a full list (probably nothing in english yet) and tons of luck for those luck questions. There are at least maps for the positions of captian cryptic (on JP Wikis).

Holy shit, dat Academia AF400 encounter rate. All for battles giving me like 2 experience. :\

Later battles should give you more xp.

Thanks for the info, I wanted to think the developers were nice people.

Anyone else had this problem? Or did I leveled up sooo wrong?? (had Serah fighting role at 10 and magic one at 17.. the contrary for noel)

When I played the jp version we had like 100% fail on the luck questions. The luck ones came up around 6-7 times and we failed ALL of them. Extremly frustrating, especially when you have to hunt down captain cryptic. Some questions are also totally odd, my gf had a pretty good memory of what happened in the novels so she even knew some answers that apperently just were in the novels.
