The naked GAF party was fun! Especally when we followed ppl around and marched through Limsa to Costa de Sol in our undies lol. Naked FF Gaf forever!

MRD is an attack tank.

I usually start the fight with Overpowerx2 or Tomahawk and then Overpowerx2. At that point i have enough enmity to have all the enemies on me. Heavy Swing + Skull Sunder/Main also do a good job. Sometime i mix Fracture/Bloodbath in.

You may want to get flash from Gladiator, but personality I don't use it that much, Overpower serves me fine.

Tomahawk to pull main target then overpower till the end of time/there is only a mob left. Especially when dps decides to split.

Gah fuck gonna repost cause no one will ever see my post now:

Not sure I understand what you mean. Basically in the second guildhest with the big knight in the center and spawning skellies, I quickly try to tag a skelly with a move but if the big knight hits me my targeting switches back to him. How do I STAHP it.

Well once you target an enemy with any ability it gets marked as your main target and if you move to a different enemy(of course while the first is still alive) for a new move after that move you will go back to targeting the main enemy. To get rid of this you need to cancel your targeting completely by hitting cancel twice.

I'm not sure the proper terms since I am playing on PS3 but on that you would hit circle twice. Once to cancel where you are currently targeted(so your cursor isn't on anything) and a second time to cancel the main target completely.

How far into the main scenario missions do you get access to the grand companies? I've been trying to grind them out quickly (skipping cutscenes when possible because I want to experience them only once - when the game releases), and I just got the airship pass. I'm on my Legacy character, so I can do them pretty quickly with high level and personal chocobo, but... I was surprised at the amount of filler quests were in the main scenario ones like "go kill ____ please" compared to the previous version (1.0) where most of the quests were either cutscenes or story-related battles.

Anyways, anyone know? Thanks!

You've still got to tackle 3 dungeons, not sure how far after that though.

I see, alright got it will try. And it's X for me as I'm master race J-PS3.. O for cancel.. UGH.

I'm worried about character creation, it's very limited and a lot of stuff seems tied to certain faces. It's unaccaptable, imo.
They talk about memory constrains etc. I certainly don't hope the ps3 is limiting the character creation, because that will make me uncertain on what we can expect from future things.

I'm not sure why facial hair has to be tied to faces because of memory constraints, but hairstyles can be matched to any. Anyways I'm sure there will be limiting factors in the future because of having it on the ps3. I guess that's something you have to deal with in Japanese MMOs, since they're not PC gamers.

I really can't get over how amazing this game is and how far it has come. I never played 1.0 but I am impressed from what I have played in the beta compared to other MMOs on the market right now.

FFXIV is my next MMO for sure.

If I recall correctly, it's not even because of memory constraints, but because it was done this way in V1. From my understanding, facial features such as scars, beards etc. were part of the face's models and not separate meshes. Because recreating them from scratch would have been too much work, they decided to convert the assets as they were.

Been having fun with this game so far, I believe I am lvl. 10 right now. Going solo could get hard real fast, how do you set up groups? I am in the GAF clan, Silmeria Isengard.

I only played 1.0 for a little while and though it was a beautiful game (look at the sky!) I ended it up disappointed with it. One question I have about ARR is: are the original compositions still in the game? I noticed on youtube that there is a new composer involved and it would be a shame if songs like Twilight Over Thanalan were just dropped.

They still have some of the old music.

That's good to hear. Walking through the fields outside of Ul' Dah with that music playing was one of the most beautiful and memorable moments i've ever had in a game, and was almost worth being a guinea pig for the original collector's edition! So open beta in August... if that means I can start playing and keep all my progress forever, i'm in.

FFXIV is my next MMO for sure.

I agree, its making DCUO look like a joke and I loved that game.
Only thing I wish this had that that does is the appearance selection(wear an armor but select the appearance of a different armor already collected)

I am liking this game so far...doing as many quests as possible.

I'm an archer and so far so good. The game is easy to get into.

The only part that I find cumbersome is the targeting in "mass mob" situations. I'd like some auto targeting.

Btw, how is the dagger class?

Did the first 3 dungeons as a healer, total easy mode. :P

Never played a healer in a MMO before, but I'm enjoying it. Will definitely play one in the actual release. In Phase 4 I will try another class, dunno what yet.

Any word on when Phase 4 starts? I like this game, but don't want to invest too much time into a character, and have it reset.

I always went for Monk in FFXI as my main class, but damn does Dragoon look awesome in this game. Is Dragoon better now than it was in FFXI?

Oh dear. I thought we could join a grand company before those quests - oh well. I'll probably just wait for phase 4 or the final game to get back into a grand company, lol. Thanks for answering, though!

Another question if anyone knows... So I bought my Twin Adder (Gridania Grand Company) chocobo barding (all of it) during 1.x. I've heard that I will get that back (for free) when I re-join a grand company. That's great, but what if I decide to join a different GC? Will I get the chocobo barding for that company for free as well or will I have to buy them again? Just curious mostly because I might do a different grand company than I did in 1.x.

Oh sorry, I'm going to assume so because you can switch classes, so why not be able to switch jobs as you unlock them? That's the impression I have so far anyway.

Yep, you can switch jobs. What happens is that when you unlock a job you are given a "soul" crystal (Soul of the Monk, ect). You switch jobs on and off by equipping/equipping the crystals.

Oh, phase III...

Hm, sitting in the duty finder for 13 minutes as a dps. Guess I'll be a tank when phase 4 comes out.

At least they have a duty finder!!! Props.

Edit: Popped after 16 mins. Pretty commin as dps.

omg I just stated playing this, started up a new character like 24 hours ago and literally have not stopped since I started. I started playing as an Archer and did the first dungeon so far and got a very nice looking chest piece off the boss of that dungeon...

I never thought I'd get into this game like this but... ugh. I love it.

The only thing I hate is that I am playing on PS3 and I have no keyboard.

Game should have built in voice chat for parties on PS3/PS4 versions I think. Make it more console like.

The controls on PS3 were at first really hard for me to get used to but I am amazed at how well they work. At first I was thinking it was clear the game would control better with a keyboard/mouse, but now I'm not so sure as I've really gotten used to the controller and am loving it.

I really hate that this game is coming out August 27th. I'll never have enough time to play it then. I'll never have enough time to play it ever, really. I know this game would take over my life, and so I just don't think I can buy it because of that. :(

As a healer it only takes seconds to find a party in duty finder, so I'm totally gonna roll with that in the actual release.

Yeah, the last time I used the Duty Finder as a White Mage, I got an instant invite. Like seriously, it was instant upon clicking the button, lol.

Few more screenshots I took earlier:

Dang, that little Gridanian taru/lalafell NPC in the storyline can do some awesome looking spells:

Some nice looking views, I think:

My cute little Monk with his eyepatch:

But then he gets all serious when he puts on his glasses:

xD

This is the first MMO I have played since FF XI where I take the time to read every single piece of NPC dialogue to take in the world lore. The little automated bubble texts are really nicely written and charming with references and wordplay galore.

This is what I found out on character creation.

Please add more face types and facial hair.
No Plans to Address
"The options in Beta phase 3 are at the limit due to the fact that the number of facial hair/face type options have been stabilized for efficient memory usage and for operation on a wide range of PC and hardware specs."
Please increase the number of face types.
No Plans to Address
"In regards to face types, the amount that have been implemented for Beta phase 3 are the same amount that will be available at release. After release, we will be looking into whether to prioritize new races or addition of face types."

How disappointing. I really hoped they would add more face stuff for phase 4 and launch...

Are there any benefits to playing as a Disciple Hand and Land classes? Can you get equipment from the classes that are better than what you would get from quests and dungeons?

Is everything from the beta going to be erased on the official release? The reason I ask is I don't know if I should make a character now just so I can secure a name I want.
