For the first 6 months after the release, we will focus on improving the interface based on players feedback. After these six months, we will provide the tools to allow players to create their own add-ons.
We also plan to work on a special website that will allow players to download add-ons that will be consistent without needing to check.

So basically PC version is going to be optimal again. Wonder how long before we see a XIV-esque windower.

As I mentioned in a post on the official forum, the FFXIV ARR jobs artifact armor are scheduled to match FFXIV content, which means that what you had in V1 was not necessarily needed in ARR. Stats that have disappeared were deliberately removed because they were no longer needed for these jobs to pass the contents of ARR. This will make sense when you play the end game content. So for now, do not worry, your concerns should disappear at this point because everything has been redesigned for ARR, especially the end game content.

Ah, yes, the 'you won't need it so you won't care' defense.

;_;

Thanks! Also, how customisable is the UI? I never actually got to try it with the little time I jumped on during this past weekend and I'm hoping I can change the action bars to be a little bit closer and put some to the side (but not so far off from the side). If that is possible I'll definitely grab the CE on GMG and be happy man.

The UI can be rearranged and customized to whatever you like. In the full game (or Phse 4?), you'll be able to resize anything on the UI as well.

Lack of special stats or skill boosts on artifact armour.

His reply sounds like a complete non-answer to me. Or I just don't like the answer he gave. I was really hoping the AF gear armors were just placeholders in the beta. *shrug* I always loved those little things like "Enhances Regen" and gave some of those end game armors a bit more flavor.

Wow, hard to believe this is the same company from FFXI interface that had problems with windower.

I think Lalafell is the only race I played where I got trapped in something and had to teleport back. It happened to me twice already, wish I still had the pictures to prove it :(

I jumped off a roof and landed in a barrel and got stuck, and the second time was roaming and I jumped and got stuck between two rocks. I tried to get stuck with other races (yeah I was bored lol) but I guess lalafell is the only one that can.

Ah, I actually got stuck with my Lala too after a big jump into a cliff.

Wow, hard to believe this is the same company from FFXI interface that had problems with windower.

They must have looked at the figures, realized that most of the player base used it, and it had inadvertently improved the longevity of the game. I doubt it would have lasted 11 years without windower.

Then all the planets and stars aligned and they finally realized that user-created content can actually be a positive thing. I bet even half the XI dev team used windower lol

Seriously can't wait for tomorrow, game is crack

By the way a question guys, as a THM i went to the CNJ receptionist to change class and get me an healing spell to make soloing easier

I can still change class again? i just noticed that you need pugilist as a second class to get Black Mage as job class :/

You can change classes as many times as you want. It will just give you a quest and a weapon. To change class all you have to do is equip the weapon type for that class.

From Secrets of Eorzea's Interview
Naoki Yoshida said:
...there is a model for every audience, so if you want more characters, you will get the standard subscription, with which you can have up to 8 people per server at no extra cost, and if you only have one character, you will take the basic subscription and pay a little less.

I have a few alts on WoW, but I can't imagine splitting my time between different alts in ARR. Anyone else rolling with one character on P4/release?

oh, that's really nice

still donnow if i want to roll a Black Mage or a Dragoon actually, THM is pretty fun so far

He basically stays you won't need those enhance stats for the content which AF is designed for, and you will see the return of the specific spell / trait enhance gear on higher lv content. That's how I read it anyway.

Sounds good to me.

You can also save entire equipment sets, so when you want to change classes you just pick that set, really nice not to have to manually change all your armor and accessories per class.

I also got that idea from what he said. Maybe he doesn't want people holding on to lv50 gear when the cap is raised next year.

With Legacy status I can create more characters than I would ever want but since I can do everything on a single character and have been provided a ridiculous amount of inventory storage options, I have no reason to roll more characters. I can see how some people might want to have different characters for fun, roleplaying, or certain jobs though. Also, those crazy dual boxers.

As long as the game has more interesting stats later on, I guess I don't mind as much. I just like when gear has special stats that add a bit of flavor to pieces of gear besides just "Oh, yay I get +2 more INT on this piece...." kinda thing.

Well that definitely makes it easier to imagine the new jobs for classes.
Damn, six months for my blue menus and text based inventory. :(
Lack of special stats or skill boosts on artifact armour.
The lack of necessity is what made them kind of cool. Hopefully this means some kind of Job Trait or even a Merit system.

Oh Yoshi-P, you so sweet.

YoshiP has nothing on Valdermeth

Greetings everyone!

For all of you receiving strange e-mails in foreign characters, I have some interesting news for you! It would appear a few deepvoid death rats snuck into the office and tampered with our computers.

Who would've guessed they're not only proficient in Japanese, but also good with computers!

No need to fear though, as we've driven them out and laid traps around the building.
But I digress. Although I'm not sure when another notification will be sent, the nitty gritty of the schedule can be found using the link below.

Looking forward to seeing you all during the next test.

Is it any good? Is it any fun? Is the combat different from FFXIII. I know its an MMO, but is the combat still paradigm BS based? Because on a whim a I pre-orderd it for PS3 even though I normally don't like MMOs.

Bought it a couple days ago from GMG and registred the game key on the square-enix website.
Too bad youre not getting a beta invitation after buying the game? :/

Can't wait to jump back in tomorrow since I missed most of last weekend!

Saving gearsets is awesome but damn I keep forgetting to "update" the damn set with new gear. So here is my character with a few pieces of gear that I forgot to update, mainly I forgot to re-save the gearset with my new gloves, boots and necklace

Izumi Stormcaller

So, when they say, user created add-ons. They're mostly just talking about, UI tweaks right? Or are they honestly going to accommodate substantial game alterations? That'd seem, a bit risky for an MMO.

If you mean speed hacks and crafting bots those will still be banned, UI mods are mostly visual tools like distance plugin, TP display, timers on screen, dps parser, etc.

They're mostly talking about UI tweaks like combat parsers, custom unit frames, timers, ect all the stuff you see in WOW.

UI tweaks and added features, like log parsing. Not as in creating new content.

I kinda figured it would mostly be UI stuff. As much as I'd be curious about things like, user created quests, (only thing besides UI mods I'd be interested in, mostly because of some dabbling I did in Neverwinter Nights years ago,) I don't see how such a thing could be implemented in an MMO without breaking the game.

Might be nice to see if somebody comes up with some interesting tweaks for playing with a controller though. Things have improved there, since phase 2, but there are still odd little moments where things behave a little oddly there.

Look at "Windower" for FFXI. Disregard any of the plugins that are designed for any unfair advantage towards the user. Unfair being bots, speedhacks, being able to see dats for VNMs that are supposed to be invisible until you pop them. Fair being, being able to see your party members TP, being able to parse text. More customized UI/graphical tweaking, optimized screenshot taking, optimized macro making. Then it'll probably end up being something like that.

About the Lodestone

Class system and future Jobs.

Lack of special stats or skill boosts on artifact armour.

RE: Lodestone. Cool. Ever since they added those useless linkshell boards (essentially a prototype for XIV, which I feel a lot of things were) in XI I wanted them to make something like it that was better integrated into the game.

RE: Class/Job. They are going to cheat, eh? So much for my "use enmity as a resource" Dark Knight... too good of an idea for them naturally...

RE: Stats. So they are assuring us that gear and point allotment in this game will be in fact very boring? Please tell me they didn't just confirm there will be a lack of "enhance *action*" stats on armor, like we see in the beta.

Can never have too many types of Mandragoras.

Those look really cool and I have a soft spot for mandragoras, but do I dislike they felt the need to genderize the Lycopodium. This game really lays it on thick.

Someone is seriously suggesting the return of 2Hours from XI on the Beta forums.

...

2-Hours (now 1-Hours, I hear) are essentially FFXI's Limit Break / Desperation Attacks / Overdrives / Quickenings / etc. Kind of redundant.

I read it as if they were just toning AF armor down (even further) and that it wasn't needed for early endgame content, and that later gear will be a return to this type of flavor to armor when it will be needed on the armor for much harder fights.

I think AF is actually better than v1.0 GC gear, from what I saw for old armour the ranking goes: Darklight > Militia > AF > GC > crafted.

If we account for new items, both on dungeons/raids and higher GC ranks, then AF might still be further down the ranking.

I'm sorry to bring you bad news, but the game is just basically FFXIII-4, that's why it is called XIV.

Since they are adding like Lighting as a quest giver, I hope they give me the option to fight her eventually.

I wouldn't mind killing her over and over.

Did FFXI have anything good other than the jobs?
Sideways progression. You could always dedicate some extra effort on something off the beaten path to improve your character - it wasn't so linear.

There was an element of mystery and excitement to the game. You weren't just riding a train. There was stuff to explore and lasting rewards. You could do things in FFXI that gave you an adrenaline rush and that'd never forget. My first Leaping Lizzy claim comes to mind. Also the first time I got the drop.

The jobs also all felt unique and actions had weight.

It did a whole lot wrong too though.

Does anyone know what I can do to be able to play on the PS3 instead of the PC version? I've been in the PC beta since the beginning but I've been having issues with my PC recently and I really want to try it out on the PS3 :{
