I'd like to meet the genius at Square Enix who thought it was a good idea to use the Duty Finder for friggin solo instances and put a foot up his arse.

It's probably just poor wording, when it says "Duty Finder" it probably just means "Instance Server."

Specs? Game runs like a charm on my rig, even with dozens of people on-screen and using skills. I get a constant pegged 60 at almost all times.

Combined with a radeon hd 6870 video card and 8gb of ram.

I'd upgrade the CPU but since its socket 1156 I'd need a new motherboard....too.

These areas do not hold up for a second playthrough, especially now they've removed all the challenge from main scenario quests (I literally went afk 20 minutes while the golem was hitting me. Took a shower and everything.) Pretty much bored out of my mind hoping to reach dungeons. Skipping all sidequests while I'm at it. The instanced servers being down makes it seem I'll be stuck here.

Even the first playthrough is terrible. Farm quests need to die.

Bolded your problem. That video card is going to slow you down a fair bit...

I would upgrade that before anything else and see how it impacts performance.

Define "affordable" (for you). A good mid-level card is going to run you around $200.

GTX 650Ti 2GB, GTX 660 2GB, and GTX 760 2GB are all good choices, and should be able to handle FFXIV pretty well.

My 9800 Pro lasted me for many years. I still have it somewhere around my house, lol. Great card. See my edit for recommendations.

Maybe read up on the Arcanist from the link in the OP. Might like that class.

I have been playing for 6 hours straight now with no issues. Which is pretty good. Open beta must have helped a lot.

it's all main quest dependent, class use i'm not positive. probably though, can't see why not.
