Does rest EXP affect everything (Completing Fates or levequests?) or just mobs you kill? For partying, is powerleveling possible? IE Lvl15 groups with a lvl1 and kills lvl17 mobs/Fates. Friend decided she didn't like dying so much as a THM and is switching to BRD, but obviously she'll have to start from lvl1 :(

Yeah I'm finding myself just skipping some conversations after reading the first sentence.

i skip it because there is no way to resize font for quest dialogue (from what i can tell) which is fucking dumb.

And everything is so confusingly named that i have a hard time caring about anything.

This is driving me absolutely nuts.. I get to camp drybone and flag the initiation leve "leves of camp drybone" (the one that allows you to do all the others). And, I've done this same quest before, in the beta and it was absolutely fine. You just have to find the goblin and escort it with beckon. No problem.

But in this build of the game, the goblin doesn't appear, anywhere. I've searched the place about 10 times over. and all the surrounding area. I've asked in shout. Some random person think I'm going nuts. The goblin isn't there. I've logged out, and left it a day thinking that it was just a minor bug they'd iron out. There's no "initiate" or "abandon" on the quest in the journal. So that means the goblin must be around somewhere. Also, the red circle is a lie.

Just got the world is full message. Why doesn't it put me into a queue? Do i really need to keep logging in constantly?

From my experience, I was able to still gain EXP from fighting mobs that someone else ended up getting the kill and completing Fates.

I sort of do that too. It kind of bores me.

wow people already got to pld?

is there not much grind in this game?

Well i guess i did kinda get gld to 16 in the 4 hours i got to play in beta 4, so i guess it shouldn't be too hard.

curious how hard its to level up a conjurer after you do all the quests about on your first class.

I assume they are easy to find groups for.

If you follow the main story and sidequests, getting to lvl30 is pretty quick, I even skipped some sidequests at some towns I think because I wanted to unlock the dungeons.

Leveling alternative class is a bit slower and you will need to rely on fates because you run out of quests. I did most of 12-15 from doing huntlogs, going afk and doing fates >.>

Maybe a GM can help out with it? I think i got the Drybone one done myself.

I wish ACNs were better healers and could queue as one ;~;

So you didn't level up in a group like old ffxi? Does anyone do it that way, or is it just too slow?

Interests me a bit more than most MMOs, but the background details are more interesting than the execution thus far. But then I practically just started the game.

They essentially delevled at online storytelling. FFXI did it the proper way by creating some annoying but necessary artificial barriers, and for not f'n putting fluff in the main story.

I'm so so disappointed with them over this.

What UI configs are you all running? I'm trying to move mine around. I feel like I'm staring at the skill bar more often rather than what's actually happening on-screen. Would like to maneuver that around to prevent some of that.

Main scenario is so hopelessly generic....so much fluff.......UGHHHHH

Yeah, it's pretty bad. It doesn't help that there are so many fetch quests, i'm going for
titan
but the game just keeps sending me in odd places to do stupid jobs.

On other hand, i did a Brayflox's Longstop run and it dropped 5 tanks items, nice. The boss was a nightmare, latency makes the breath attack impossible to evade and it hit me for 800 damage every time.

Is the main story really that bad? I've heard good things about the story before and it was basically the only reason why I was considering buying the game...

when do you start getting cool armor/weapons vs scrub armor?

where do other gld get the bigger 1h swords? quests seem to get me tiny Sting like gladius swords.

They should count as tanks too. Carbuncle pet seems more competent than a lot of tanks I've come across. In fact, our tank left the group midway through Totorak and the arcanist pet put us on its broad shoulders and we cleared the dungeon boss as a trio. Fun time.

Is there a way to enlarge the UI elements all at once rather than individually in the HUD options? I want to play at 1920x1080 from my couch, but the text is too small. And some UI items can't be made bigger (chat box and NPC text)

Uh, XI had a lot of fluff in the story, especially the early parts. Lots of unnecessary running around and getting stuff, pointless back and forth, etc. This is especially true for the original storyline and early expansions but the later ones aren't free of it either. The story will get updated for XIV so there's more to come.

No, but they're going to keep working on it, supposedly.

Most of the exp comes from quests/fate early on, you have to group for dungeons (after lvl15) and you do get decent exp from there, and you also get loot too, so it's also an option but it gets repetitive if you repeat them.

So it's really a mix of solo questing and dungeoning with groups among other things like levequests and group levequests.

I haven't seen people shouting for exp groups though like in ffxi where you just run around killing stuff for exp, but I do group with my friends to finish the huntlogs early for quick exp.

The story itself is misguided so far from what i've experienced. It tries to tell a story but it always gets interrupted with: go hear and meet this NPC, gain his trust by completing 20 fluff quests, and then come back. (Voice acting also is either not that great, or extremely inconsistent in appearance. So much for fully voice acted main story).

By the time you actually finish that stuff you either forget what happened before, or the story gives you a minimal actual storyline quest and then sends you on the next set of fluff missions.

This is unacceptable in a Final Fantasy game in my opinion. That crap may fly in the other standard mmo games but this should not be in an FF.

There's a difference between massive running around and progressing a storyline slowly (FFXI did this) and running around doing menial tasks that have no relation to what is going on in the story.

Ugh, my audio interface screwed up and now I'm left with the dilemma of playing without audio or risking not being able to log back in.

An option to choose the role you queue for in the duty finder would in theory be a great idea, but the reality is that many people are not yet skilled in the main duties of their classes/jobs, let alone the potential ones. People don't even bother to read the descriptions of their abilities and spells. Since the duty finder pairs you with random people, that would just cause a bigger headache.

Is there an option to permanently set your pet to passive? I like controlling the fairy manually but it seems to reset to guard after every fight.

Bummer, meeting new people and getting in a fast rhythm with a group of 6 was the best part of ffxi.

Okay did Copperbell Mines a second time. This time we had a better tank and crushed it this time. It also helps that my Thaumaturged leveled up to 19 in the dungeon.
