Wow I got a new variant of the 1017 error: This time it let me into queue and then progressed the queue. Then once I made it to the front it gave me a 1017. Previously if I had made it into queue I knew I was good to go, not anymore. Pretty sneaky SE.

Has anyone else experienced this new technique in error presentation?

Yea I saw it last night.

even if I login in the morning. i get kicked with 9000.

haven't gotten to play since saturday of beta 4.

You know what? Shit kinda sucks.

beat saints row 4 and good progress with splinter cell... but yeah... fuck.

In online games people look out for self. When gil sellers (gold? I think it's still gil) start taking over ffxiv you'll see it when buying gold becomes more popular (more gil sellers). Though the gil sellers can only mess up the economy and not monopolize mobs, or notorious monsters. Same for botters, it seems like FFXIV has everything in instances so they learned from that...

Anyway what I'm trying to say is you can't expect a large amount of people to do the right thing when there's no penalty that can be brought on them (again looking out for self). A few people feeling guilty will not do the job. SE has to force it. I get auto logged out of GW2 constantly and I'm usually not afk. In pvp games I have to move every minute or I'll be kicked out of the instance.

That's what I'm saying-if you're not going to expect other players to do right, then why expect the company to do what you feel they should? If everyone is looking out for self, why are you suddenly more important? (Not you personally, people I mean)

I got some play time in last night (I know, lucky me) and decided to give carpentry a shot. I got to level 10 but didn't have any fun getting there. I stood in front of the materials vendor, bought the items I needed, and proceeded to craft away until I hit my level 10 goal.

Should I keep with it even though I'm not enjoying it? Does it become more beneficial late game? I want to focus on leveling but I feel like if I don't keep up with carpentry I'll end up never doing it.

If I decide to stick with it, how important is botany as a companion job?

Hey...thanks for reading!

Quick Synthesis is the most broken, dumb thing.

You fail all the time, even crafting level 1 ingots at level 20+, it's slow as hell (you can make stuff at nearly the same speed just jamming 1), and you get less EXP than if you crafted normally just jamming 1.

Why you would ever use QS outside of crafting 99 of a really low item at high levels, I don't know.

I'd be completely forgiving of them if it was for the fact that there's the same amount of servers for Japan as their is for US/EU combined. A child could of seen the problem with that.

What are you wearing, that you're failing at making level 1 ingots at level 20?

I've only used it a few times when nature called, but I didn't have any failures, and I'm level 12.

go for HQ and make good use of the whisper buffs. Use the +10% HQ chance buff on +1 attempt nodes and don't go for items with a lower than 90% success chance. Losing chain bonus hurts.... heck missing any hits hurt.

Gathering is slow, but that's because you can pretty much free ride crafting with a high level MIN & BTN, at least to a certain point going by the gathering/crafting logs and recipies.

Hmm, I've been mostly going for materials that I will use for GSM and haven't really took advantage of the chain bonus. I'll try that next time.

Yeah, Quick Synthesis is shit. I would have preferred the ability to stay in the crafting window and keep crafting, instead of going back and fort between crafting window and recipe window, but we got an auto-fail option instead.

When you fail 13 out of 50 level 1 items at level 23, it's dumb.

I'm wearing level 15+ control/craftsmanship gear. It's not my gear.

On the flip side, I did get two HQ ingots.

So, I got disconnected and the world is full (Leviathan).

I told myself, oh well, I can make a character on an european server. Character creation on every EU and US server is locked.

Are they joking? Preventing people from logging in AND creating characters? Is that even legal (lol).

Once they open up creation on Midgard I'm going there to start over with friends.

I've played an Arcanist a bit on my current server.

Kind of want to go Gladiator with the new character. Are they fun? Easy to solo/level?

Your gear setup is bad probably. I did 30+ Silver ingots with QS and only 1 failed on me with up to date crafting gear.

I've been trying to get into the Tonberry JP server since the early access launch. Hours of unsuccessfully trying to get a character on there to play with friends is a real pain so I made a character on a different server. I realised a few hours in that there are no world transfers as of yet. I'm torn between playing solo to experience the game and waiting for a slot to open up so I don't have to go through it all again on a new character.

It's really not. Seriously. All my gear is up to date (all level 15+ with control/craftsmanship, most recent tools) and I still failed quite a bit the two times I did it. Once was 13/50 failures, the other was 6/50.

RNG? I can understand that. I've gotten nothing three times in a row from a node with a 97% chance a few times.

But QS just has too many drawbacks for it to ever be worthwhile. It's not quicker than jamming 1, you get less EXP, and you'll get some failures. Just doesn't seem worth it except in extreme hedge cases.

Call it karma for attempting to be a douche by logging in all day.

Seriously though, no one deserves to have to deal with this. I'm hoping that Square-Enix does try and give some form of compensation, like a few extra days for the people who haven't been able to play.

But I haven't had an issue with quick synth at all. I've got the most up to date gear for a 31 Goldsmith and the CP accessories.

Also, QS is for lower level synths that don't give you much or any XP.

Made some great progress, got arcanist up to 15 by doing hunting logs mostly, and am now at 29 Conjurer. Just one level to go until I become a white Mage!

douche?

I want to play the game I payed money for.

What other options do i have?

If there was a queue system, that's good, i can wait in line. Except there is no line, its just people throwing themselves at a door that might open. Coming back after a day of work and hitting 0 doesn't seem like an ideal option.

And its not like i can roll a character on any other US server atm.

Then I've just been super unlucky the two times I've used it. Maybe I'll give it another shot tonight.

They're not going to have this fixed during Labor Day weekend, are they?

This is definitely one of the worst MMO launches I've experienced.

They really dropped the ball by not having additional servers ready to commission at launch. Every other MMO has been prepared in such a way (and sometimes would go overboard).

Even with the lack of servers, they could've eased players' frustrations by just having an effective queue system and an idle timer, which has been done in nearly every MMO. This should at least be something hotfixed in while they're waiting on the new servers for next week.

The duty finder being broken has finally gotten to me...when they have you fight Ifrit, you're in a little enclosed cave, can I warp out and come back somehow?

This is currently my situation, too. For the hell of it, I logged into another server that I have a character on, of which I had no trouble doing (go figure), but it felt pointless to play since it wasn't with my friends. Just because of how elaborate this game is with its story sequences, tutorial setup, and initial quest lines, I just logged off and decided to wait. It's better than having to redo the same steps over again.

The problem is that everyone else also paid to play the game, and we are equally entitled to play the game. You keeping your character logged in prevents someone else from playing the game they paid for. So we have every right to be upset with you. This is simply a matter of being courteous versus being selfish.

To make an analogy, consider the situation where you are standing in a checkout line at a store. There are not enough registers open, so the line is backed up pretty far. That doesn't make it okay to cut in line. Sure, you might be a paying customer, and it might make things more convenient for you, but that doesn't mean the people behind you in line are not going to get upset at you for doing so. This is the exact same kind of thing.

Just because you can't see the people you are affecting doesn't mean that you are not affecting them. Just because you gain personal benefit from the action doesn't absolve you from observing basic human decency. And this is pretty basic human decency in question.

oh my god, i spent the last day bickering/sending them angry custom service support emails to squeenix and SCEA just to realize that the "0" was actually a got damn fucking letter D.

Level 42 story quest seems to be bugged at the start. I did it a couple times and each time right after you click OK to enter the instance you get attacked while the screen is black. I just kept clicking hoping to kill whatever was attacking me lol.

So, maybe someone can answer this for me.

First, is it just me, or did it seem to make you create another service account when you registered? I had the early access, so I just thought once I entered the registration code, on PS3, that it was just part of it.

I noticed in a post someone mentioned something about the Mog Station, so I go to check it out.
Saw the one service account, my first one, (main one) only had 2 days left, and didn't really understand or see a way to set up payment plan.
2nd account, one I don't really need had the 30 day free month on it.
Did that happen to anyone else?
Hopefully they can just combine the two accounts, or move the play time to the first one if anything. If not, not worried about it, but would like to keep my characters at least.

And thanks.

What depresses me is that today and tomorrow will likely be the only days I get to play until sometimes next week. I ordered the PC CE from Digital River and, since I didn't want to pay the $30+ shipping cost at the time, I opted for the $11 shipping. Since I'm in Canada I know I won't get it until late next week at the earliest, so I was really hoping to get some decent game time in during the Early Access. However, these server errors...

It would be nice to see them extend the EA longer than the 29th but I guess they figure most would likely have their copy by then. However, I'm doubtful I will.

Oh well, not much I can do about it now.

Amongst all the major problems, does anyone have a fix for this minor one: in Windows 7, when I pin the boot program to the start bar, it opens the launcher on a separate tab. If I pin the launcher, it asks me to use the boot program instead.

And yes I'm anal enough about my desktop layout for this to bother me.
