I'm not playing on Ultros. Got tired of server full everytime. Thank the AFKers who crap on the rest of us.
Gaffers who AFK are fucking up Gaffers who want to play too and making them play on other servers so they can experience the game.

Created a Lancer on one of the Japanese servers for the time being (Garuda?) and enjoying the game so far, up to level 9 in a few hours last night.
Never played this or another MMO before (unless White Knight Chronicles counts lol), so I was curious about what you guys consider the "meat and potatos" of the game to be?
I've done a few story quests, a whole bunch of side stuff, and all the Lancer quests that have been available so far, and assume I'm still super early so far and haven't seen a lot of what is on offer.
Was jut wondering what most people are spending most of their time with once they really get into it.

7970 maxes this game out at 2560x1600. I'm sure in really high pop area it might chug but hasn't yet.

So my friend somehow logged into his old account, put in the code and then realized he put the code in the wrong account... this is the same one that had CE problems before. So now he needs to move the code over or merge accounts, something like that. The phone number for SE is always busy and there is no chat support for FF14. I wonder, do you think the chat support for FFXI would help him transfer over the code to the account?

For the love of god, stop this AFK bashing. The problem is SE. They can implement anti-AFK in 5 seconds if they want to, they don't. They fucked up the servers, not the players. Point your hate towards those deserving.

Thanks to a lot of folks here in this thread I had a much better go of it with this game last night. I was able to shrink and move a few of the menus so they weren't cut off due to overscan. Though the chat thingy dealio in the bottom left corner is still fucked. I found no way to manipulate that window at all, so it's still cut off, though it doesn't appear to be anything vital. Still, it's much better now overall.
But I still find the map system wack, yo. If a waypoint is in another portion of the world, I have a bitch of a time finding it. Maybe I just need to get acclimated to it some more.

I don't anything about filters but 4 and 6 on the numpad always cycle through everything and 0 is confirm and . is cancel.
Also, you can pull Auto-Attack from the General tab of the Action & Traits menu to put it on the action bar.

I've found the best method for fates as a SMN is to literally bio up everything. Bio one mob and Bane to the rest, or even just tab Bio everything. I get gold pretty regularly now concentrating on dotting as many mobs as possible without worrying about damage output. It's tedious but it gets the job done.

Yep. You keep the seals if you were a 1.0 char. i even had a Lapis Cross for an extra 2500 seals, lol.

How many areas have you checked? Quarrymill, Fallgourd Float, and Camp Tranquil are the next three aetherytes for normal quests so you can try there.

Dammit. I think I was in Malestron in 1.0 and I went with Twin Adder in ARR. GRR. Oh well, I probably didn't have that many seals.

Hang on a sec, I may be misleading you. Y'see, I'm still only using an Early Access code. I haven't actually registered the real live CD key just yet.
So possibly, just possibly, when I register that key, all accounts on my console can use it.
But I am still not sure on that...
I'm a bit surprised they don't have an auto-kick in place for extending AFK. I know they didn't have one in FFXI since most people would keep the bazaars up while they slept, but we have retainers who sell this stuff for us now.

I'm 41 now (2/3 through the level) and stuck near Dragonhead farming FATEs. I'm kind of bitter this is really my only option left for levelling besides grinding. I've done my hunting log up to about 46. I have some levequests allocations left, but I want/need to save them for crafting. I have 0 quests left in my level range, my next main storyline quest requires level 42.
I don't like FATE farming. It's not fun. I'd much rather be doing quests. Why don't the later zones have enough quests to get me through to the next level? So many MMOs do this, it's really disappointing to see it's -still- the case. Please SE, fucking fill your zones out with quests so that people don't have to scrape by on automatically generated content just to level up.
Before people accuse me of playing incorrectly, fuck off. I do FATEs when they're convenient and not too far out of the way. I have kept up on Guildhests and actually have ground a few times on Guildleves for seals.

Unfortunately, I have a tenkeyless keyboard, so no number pad for me. Maybe I should buy a nostromo or something.
Yeah, but I have Auto-Attack on a bar that doesn't have a dedicated shortcut key (on hotbar 3) since I'd rather not take up a hotbar slot that has no shortcut with such a mundane thing.
Maybe that's something else I need to turn on somewhere, hotbars 1 & 2 are the only ones that have shortcuts on the top-row numbers (1 is just the number, 2 is ctl+number). Is this how it is for everyone or is there somewhere to set a shortcut combo for the other hotbars too?

What is the "right" level to start developing another class. I'm a level 12 lancer at the moment adn just got the ability to open the other classes. So should I jump into any other class? Or leave it for later after I max out the lancer?
Also what are this games version of instances? How do I access the queues or do I have to be a certain level?
Also what did that 6mb patch do yesterday? I thought it could help with login and add a queue maybe, but yesterday was the first day I could even log in once and I spent 30 min on two occasion and no luck.

The game account is tied to your PSN account, so without that authorization, you may not be able to log in.

Turn numbers off and just judge by health bar, especially with how fast everything happens.
Is it just me or is it really a convoluted process to register the actual game after you've done the early access code. There's no where that really explains what to do and I want to make sure I'm not registering a totally new account.

Yeah, the Hotbar tab under Keybind let's you set each slot of each bar. You can use any combo of Alt, Shift, or Ctrl.
You'll need a level 15 Marauder by the time you hit 30 to get the Dragoon upgrade. You can start it whenever but might wanna wait until 17 to take advantage of the lower-level class EXP bonus.
Instances are dungeons and Primal fights. You can start them as part of the main story during a level 15 quest.
The patch was mostly ingame bug fixes and some quest tweeks, I believe.

Yeah, it's +50% EXP for classes two or more levels lower than your highest class. So it should make get Job requirements and cross class stuff pretty easy.

Do you have much better luck getting onto your current server? I have no problem starting a new character if it means I can play whenever I actually have the time instead of only past 11 pm PST.

It is wack. It hasn't reached a point of frustration, but it can be a pita.
Made my Pugilist level up decently fast.
Look if you wanna AFK that's fine, but don't pretend that people doing it aren't asshats.
In other news
Culinary and Botany up to 20. Culinary is fun to level up... Botany is booooooooring. Going to be sad once Leves are used up.
