As a heterosexual guy, my logic is I don't want to be staring at some guy's ass for years.
I find this reasoning very strange, but it's common enough that it must be important to people. Just think it's weird that it becomes a sexual kind of thing for people. A lot of people see their character as their avatar, I guess some people are just completely disconnected and want to oogle at their character instead.

This is exactly me.

I created a male character since, well...I'm male, and I view the character as a Black Mage extension of myself. It wouldn't feel the same if I created a female character.

I'm on team ogle. Boob sliders to the max.

That being said, the ridiculous skimpy armors get tiresome. I dunno, it's complicated.

Same. I'm male and my character is male. I'm not a cat man (but I do like cats) and my guy doesn't really look like me but if I was a fantasy land catman I'd like to be my fantasy land catman.

I sometimes do make female characters but only in single player games as secondary characters where I do things I didn't on my first playthrough. Like me renegade femshep.

I can't imagine seeing my character as something to oogle at. Either it's an avatar for me, or I'm roleplaying as them. Never sexual in any way.

I consider my game avatar as an extension of myself, but once that's out of the way I go crazy with all of the other character options.

I make multiple characters in games that allow it, and always play a redhead female first. Started doing it when I realized most games wouldn't make it possible to create a character that looks like me.

Women often play male characters to avoid harassment, which is completely understandable if you've ever played any MMO.

FFXIV characters don't have asses. just long backs, so that point is moot.

Let us not forget Assgate: A Realm Reborn.

I just play whoever, sometimes I'll go male, sometimes I'll go female. Usually female though. White mage clothes look bad on males though.

On a separate note, people really need to speak up at the start of fights if they have an issue or something. Wiped to Turn 4 on PF for about an hour and only then did the other healer bothered to ask if we spoke Spanish, would have been nice to mention that sort of thing earlier...

why are you staring at some guys ass? i always play male chars and my focus is never at their asses.

Count me in the "extension of myself" category.

Started out female Roe. Loved her. Switched to male Roe. Loved him more. Felt more like an extension of me. So I guess, count me in that pool.

What kind of weird girls would do that?! I want to point and laugh at them.

I met a great LS of girls who played Galkas in XI years ago. lol They were pretty cool.

Same here. I hate having to write she/he because I don't know what gender someone is because they want to look at an ass jiggle in front of them (just have a porn site open while playing if you want that).

btw problem with changing genders with Fantasia... your event items don't change. Male Roe with Lightning's clothing. I don't believe that I can re do the quests either to get Snow's. So, beware.

I don't really buy into the whole "extension of yourself" thing. Not in a game where you can be an elf, cat, roided half bear/half human thing, and a uh... I dunno, puntable creature. I was a male elvaan in XI for almost a decade and I never felt he was an extension of myself.

I don't view my character as an extension of myself. I tend to make female characters when playing casters/archers and males when making warriors/melee. Pretty stereotypical, I know. Catboys shouldnt be wearing robes. If this game didnt encourage just one toon, my second character would've been a male Highlander WAR for sure.

Also, female animations are usually always better than male animations in MMOs (especially /dance). But that could just be how I perceive them. You could slap the exact same animation for both genders and it can come across as awkward or groan-worthy on males but adorable on females. (ie. cheer emote).

Not to mention you get a name that doesn't match, unless you chose a unisex sounding name.

Just wondering though, you can't redo it even with the Lightning/Snow event rerun that started today?

I'm crazy about dumb event items, so I made two level 50 characters, one male and one female so I can make sure I have all of them.

I rolled a female Midlander because they look good in the armor for the jobs I like to play. Having every race/gender have the same exact battle animations (which I find incredibly lazy) made the decision even easier.

I used to have a catman, but changed to a lala boy.

The animations were unique for each race in 1.0. That was removed for ARR. PS3 limitations, no doubt.

Some of us keep it more hidden than others, because there are a couple of creepy dudes in the FC.

I was just messing, but that's pretty cool. I'm a girl who plays a guy character. lol We have a super secret linkshell for gaf girls and several of us actually play guy characters. The rest of them are cat men, though... /shakes head

Oh neat. Good for you ladies.

These girls liked the Galkas because 1) people didn't act weird towards them (besides the usual Galka jokes) and 2) Galkas were fuckawesome. =)

Nope. Can't redo. Just checked. I had completed it as a female before. Used Fantasia and your items do not switch to a guy's. So, Lightning Event items and swimsuits. All female. =/

PSA: CDJapan is selling the soundtrack now for people who have the member points to burn. Learned about this seller from Kagari when I was looking to buy the first soundtrack. Great place to import from.

Really? I'm searching the website and I can't find a listing for it. I've searched for "Realm Reborn", "Final Fantasy", even "Final Fantasy XIV". Nothing. :(

I'd prefer to use CDJapan over HMV Japan, since I've ordered more items from CDJapan and that's where I ordered the Before Meteor OST, but I can't seem to find the Realm Reborn OST on the site.
