Yeah, the patch timings are fine. They just need to better pace their content. They definitely need to avoid a repeat of Bismarck and Ravana EX.

There's nothing wrong with vertical progression, and there's nothing wrong with making the earlier steps of that progression easier as newer stuff comes out. But there's no reason for entire chunks of content to be skipped.
 
messing around with wow again xiv at least doesn't have you skip content the way that game does, it could be streamlined a bit in regards to the 2.x patches (3.x patch pacing is really good so far outside of 3.1 but that patch's problems with the MSQ only really existed when it was the only patch) but imagine if something like the 2.55 series of cutscenes was hidden behind like 20 quests and the one that actually kicks off the quest chain you can only activate if you kill two enemies that are guarding a prisoner on a map the size of any HW map but the quest marker only shows up when you kill those two guards and not when you walk/fly past him. this is what basically all the classic/bc/wotlk stuff feels like (although wotlk is still leagues above classic and bc even with the revamp they did for a lot of the classic zones in cataclysm)

The MSQ/Personal story type questing XIV and Guild Wars 2 does is great because it at least gives the player a gist of what they/their character is actually doing while WoW now is just hopping around zones as you zoom through them because nothing points out cool questlines until Draenor I think where they have something akin to XIV/GW2's main storylines present and points out "hey this is the storyline for this expansion"

No way Time Mage is getting into FFXIV at this point, Astrologian already stole some of its key spells: Gravity and Disable. Meteor was already taken by the Black Mage too. The random NPC Astrologians in Coerthas already were the funny pointed hats too. It is best to accept that the Astrologian is the healer-role reimagining of the classic Time Mage.

Besides, I think the info was that the classes would be Red Mage and Samurai. I am excited for both of those, if that is accurate.
 
Even if Time Mage happened it would probably not be as cool as people would expect. The XICLV team seems terrified of having stuff like haste, slow and stop, most bosses are immune to slows and haste abilities are super limited.

So this really hasn't ever happened before but I got really mad I wasted my time with this game today. I put up three seph farms into the party finder and despite my message saying no bonus.... a person with bonus would join my farm every time. I'm talking about different people and while it should be coincidence, it doesn't feel like it. This game really ticked me off today because none of my party finders were successful. Bonus joins and everybody freaks out... like dude this is a farm why are you looking for a carry? Bonus guy says he has done this before but none of them ever linked their seph weapon or totem into the chat. At that point I just said fuck it, we'll find out who it is. I ended up kicking the right people but the farms were never successful and it felt like people were illiterate or just trolling my farm party to wipe others because he/she hasn't cleared. I dunno why but it is INFURIATING when you get that 50 eso bonus message and nobody mans up to it. Like shite, maybe if you man up and tell me you know the fight, I'll give you a chance for fuck's sake. I kicked A LOT of people today and got abuse for it. Well you know what, stop wasting my fucking time and actually listen to what my pf says. Oh and don't even get me started on the "I watched a video" guys. There has to be a way to set it to people who only cleared, I swear. Put this option in, SE because it is absolutely infuriating to get people with bonus despite putting ilevel at 220..... Oh, and then you get these dramatic tells from people that say oh i'm sorry I let you down or wow, I actually don't know the fight..... no shite you didn't.

All unidentifiable items can be bought with either Eso OR Poetics now. Decrease in tomes needed for unidentifiable items (300 now), only 3 runs of each Gordias normal for one unidentifiable item, less beast tribe tokens are needed for an unidentifiable item, the amount of unidentifiable items needed decreased to 10 per item along with the crafted items not needing to be HQ now, and now can buy the crafted items with 5000 GC seals each

Midan gears uncapped and only 4 needed for a high-capacity tomestone now

You can now redeem a Mhachi Farthing and Mhachi Penny for a Illuminati Gobdip now

I wasn't expecting this many nerfs on the i210 relic step but I'm glad they did it



Personally, this means I already have all the Unidentifiable Items I need and just need to turn in gear and run FATEs for GC seals, and need to do A8N 3-4 times for the High-Capacity tomestone for a weapon. On top of that, I just need to run void ark for a penny and I'll have a gobdip for an upgraded lore weapon. Happy about the relic step finally getting nerfed, although I wasn't expecting the catch-up on lore weapons either. Here's hoping this motivates me to playing more, I haven't had alot of motivation to play recently and this might get me online a little more
 
210 step got nerfed even harder than i expected

you only need 3 tokens from the arr beast tribes to get an unidentifiable now., 6 tokens for HW tribes. (moogle not nerfed, though) so you can get all of them in just 10 days with ARR tribes.

I have over 250 moogle tokens. Is that enough to finish? Not that I was ever complimenting a 3rd anima but this nerf is nice. Also, I have 4000 allied seals... lol
 
I have never seen a relic upgrade step get nerfed so hard before. I was in the middle of that grind, and now I already have all of the unidentified items I need. This shouldn't take long to wrap up.

I am now contemplating getting a second too, if it is this easy. Crazy.

Another week, another lore cap. Finally did all trials of 2.0. Just missing niddhog ex and sephirot ex. Levelling gladiat so i can get the warrior job.
And boy does the chat gets as hateful as mobas.

I've come to realize that I will never actually complete an unnerfed relic step to make the relic viable for current content so nerfing a step two tiers ago will never help me in the end.

It just takes a lot of motivation to do it, I guess. I got my zeta for example when anima came out or the day before. I guess that's why I have two 240 anima now.

I'm almost done with the 230 part and this completely eliminated my will to work on the 240.

I mean, I'd still work on it were it a reasonable grind and the later nerfs were also reasonable, but god damn... They're equally extreme.

Anima made me quit ARR, I'm being g very careful not to burn myself this time. When I reach keepmebusy content I'll take a break until next content patch

I always do this in games...i was in love with Pokemon XY like no other and then i made the mistake of trying to hatch a shiny charmander. Took like two years to become enjoyable again

I think if an MMO makes me question why im spending my free time on it, then it has failed. SE still kind of has a more traditional approach of limiting the player as a means of controlling the pace and design of games, I dont like it. Nintendo used to do the same thing but nowadays has sort of seen the light, and their games are more just reward on top of reward instead of making you work and assuming youll like it anyways

Now that the anima step has hit ever single nerf branch in the way down the nerf tree and landing into a pool of nerf, I don't mind exchanging the PLD zeta I am working on for a new weapon.
 
I was lucky enough to get Bismarck's expanse baleen yesterday and it is going for 4 mil + on my server. It is tempting to turn it into an expanse endless glam weapon though. Decisions decisions....
 
Nice, it's like this patch was made for me. Currently 7-37-37-7 on unidentified items and I guess it's finally time to step into Alex Gordias as well.
 
Wowwwww dat anima nerf. After the Zodiac weapon I swore I wouldn't do an unnerfed step again... but then got impatient & restless and went for 80 unidentified items anyway. Now I really really won't do an unnerfed step again.
 
I was annoyed that I had worked so much to get twenty unidentified items for each (or I would have, by Thursday), but making those crafting items easier to get is a godsend, so I'm okay with it. I did not want to spend as much as 4,000,000 gil on the marketplace for them. I guess I'll hold onto those extra unidentifieds in case I ever debase myself by going for a second anima.
 
I think the easing of the unidentified stage is a pretty welcome change, even though I have what I want already. I've put a ton of work into relics in this game myself, and I admit that I'm extremely tolerant of grinding, but I don't think I've ever not been aware of future nerfs and changes. I just did the grind because it was what I felt like doing now, and if I didn't feel like it, I left it on the back burner.

I don't mean to say that it's not still frustrating if you've just done this step, or that it's dumb to get burnt out from the grind if you don't like it. Just that you really need to keep your expectations in check, or you're always going to be disappointed. The relics themselves don't have much value aside from what they're worth to you.

I'm pretty much in agreement with this lol. That weapon is so rarely ever useful it's a bit insulting at this stage. Oh well.


My two cents opening up the bonus message stuff from before: When Hogg was released I did it a bunch and never got a clear. Joined a farm party and told them it would be the easiest bonus of their lives. Cue the one shot and the me at the top of the dps charts. Who cares about the bonus? 7 Good players can carry one person who isn't totally sure what's up through any of these ex primals. Ain't no thang.
 
I am stuck on this stage as well, although I've had all of my unidentified items a long time ago, I just insist on crafting the HQ myself but it's been taking me a while to gear up.

And only 4 gears, good thing I have 10 that I haven't spent.

Not bitter, but next time I'll hold out for patch notes lol
 
Loving that anima nerf. I still need to do the dungeon runs for that step before the unidentified stuff but I'm glad it's a lot easier now. It took me forever to actually finish my PLD Zodiac and I probably won't even get my DRK Anima all done until sometime in 4.0 but I don't care.

And BLU has to be a job in the next expansion, it pretty much has to be Ala Mhigo and Raubahn is a BLU and it just all fits perfectly. Though if they do add BLU I'm betting it won't be as cool as FFXI's BLU and will instead have each of the quests focussing on you getting the ability from a different monster rather than you having to go out and Pokémon it like in other FF games.
 
I tried to level BLU on my new character in FF11 last year and it's painfully broken nowadays. You outlevel everything much faster than you can learn any Blue Magic. By the time I was level 50 I only knew like 2 spells. :(

BLU was so cool back in the day.
