I can't make heads or tails of those map images. Having a hard time connecting them to the areas in game right now.

Did they start patching?
Any proper links to check server statuses? I am on macosx now and working don't wanna boot in to windows and check it. I googled some server status pages and all of the show different things lol.

Heh I guess the only equipment i'd sell now is stuff i'd never use. As for forbidden materia augmentation, I agree with the penalty. 7 Is alot of materia already...having 8+ would be crazy.

Yea you read it wrong I did too the first time.

Its 7 items can have materia added to them, not 7 materia in one item.

Patch is 646 mbs and downloading at maximum speed for me using utorrent, first time for everything.

The North Thanalan bit will probably replace the Blue Fog area the crystal tower is obviously something to do with Mor Dhona being between the two zones.

If that is just one zone/area it makes you wonder what plans they have for the other zones.

Its probably because these maps are more artistic and yet simplified versions of the maps we have in game vs what is changing. They just showcase the new features without giving us the details of (for instance) where the small reliefs changes are, where every little mountain is etc. They look closer to something we might see in FFXI. An artistic guestimate. You can see where things 'should' be in Gridania. The Stillglade (Conjurer Guild) is in the top left hand corner. It already has lots of bridges and walkways to get to it in game now but its surrounded by tunnel and rock. The bottom has the two entrances and it looks like you can get to either entrance without needing to head into Gridania now, don't need to cross that huge lake in the middle. The area where the Carpenter Guild should be seems to be where the new bridge is to get to the other side. and the area around it is swollen from the lake/river. Meanwhile the rock is all taken out and it looks like an open field leading to various interests of guilds in the area with maybe some slight relief in the middle where the Leatherworkers guild should be. (I spend a lot of time in Gridania, know the map by heart >_>) There is more, but Im not going to talk more then that on such a blurry image lol.

oh many i really screw myself (and a couple of friends) over chocobo license
thought seals with other nations are useless, i went and spent them all
but from reading the notes, i realized i still need some seals from all 3 to get towards chocobo :/

hopefully the new quests reward a bunch

I was under the impression they still are useless. You choose a company, you get to keep the seals from that company, the other seals are locked away and can't be used. They mentioned in the recent Online Famitsu that the seals from the other companies might be used at a later time when Open Companies get established (Player run ones), but for now if you pledge to a public company you can't get anything from the other ones.

Or you saying you told your friends to spend all your seals thinking new seals would take their place once you joined a company? Yeah then you are screwed lol.

Edit: Just going through the patch notes, they added a lot more pictures and LOL at the icons for the chocobos during the escort quest. Damn that is a nostalgia high lol.

i tried to torrent patch but there isn!t any 100% seed. highest percentage was around 25%.. it was quite slooooow gave me around 6 hours lol.

Wow those are some awesome new models for mobs, was just expecting Coerul to come into the game, but Golems, Flying Wyverns, Chimeras and the original Cocktrice are certainly a welcome sight.

and after seeing ppl running around with like 99 lv5 dark matters
i went and did the same

but studying (lol) the patch notes carefully, i noticed that
the requirements to unlock Uldah's allegiance quest are

Quest Name: By Fire Reborn
Requirements
Storm Seals and completion of:
"Engineering Victory"
"An Officer and a Wise Man"

Serpent Seals and completion of:
"Their Finest Hour"
"The Mail Must Get Through

Flame Seals and completion of:
"Burning Man"
"Arms Race"
"Know Your Enemy"

I think you only need the completion quest for Their Finest Hour and Mail Must get through. Previous patch notes stated those were the requirments for that 'particular' company, and the other ones were for a different company etc. There is only
one new rank for the companies, its not like we are getting 3-4 new ranks.

Edit: You aren't looking at the list right :p. There are 3 new quests for each company, in order to do them you need to complete several other company/side quests and exchange some seals each time, you only need the flame seals to do it.

all i get is a "maintenance" screen when i log in?

Torrent is already created when u start patcher. Just google ffxiv patch torrent and u will find a guide how to do it.(folder system changes depending on windows version i think)

Each nation has the same 3 quests to rank up, each nation has different prerequisites needed to do first to activate those quests. The column is the nation, the row is the quest.

official patcher is actually going pretty smoothly now

No you pick one company and then do the quests in that box.

Hopefully Gromph will upload his patch file for those having trouble, he may have gone to bed though.

Some interesting new monster designs they should add more new types more often, mandragora and Tonberry next patch go.

I jumped in again for a bit on 1.18, think i might be back for a bit longer this time round. Looks like they're making real progress. I'm paranoid that the abolition of physical levels means i'm gonna log on to find it's worked out i have, like, 600hp or something (Have around 1100 now).

Hopefully not too long before they can rework the maps. So little variation there.
