Ok either I'm dumb or it's just to complicated but I don't get it and I can tell you I'm really pissed right now. I'm playing MMORPG for a decade now and I never stood in front of a problem like that..

Here are the steps I did and I just can't login:

Installed the game
Logged Into Square Enix Account: http://eu.square-enix.com/en/
Added the game with the Code on the "Product Registration Card" (6 Letters + 3 Numbers + 6 Letters + 3 Numbers)

and now he is asking me for my square enix ID. I am pretty fucked right now because I didn't know that I need that. I couldn't even remember what my answer was to my question and even not what my alternative E-Mail adress was at the time I created this account.

Why does it have to be so complicated? Is there anything I can do to recover my "Square Enix ID"? I just really didn't know that I'm going to need that and I just can't remember about a thing on this account. I would just register a new one but now I already entered the first code...

What now? I mean I already wrote the support ticket but will they help me if I don't even know the question or/and answer and my alternative E-Mail adress..

What can I do right now. Please Help GAF :(

Wait, what? How did you log into your Square Enix account to add the game code if you don't remember your Square Enix ID? Or are you saying that you did those steps long ago and now are trying to log in again?

Uhm I can just log into my account with my E-Mail Adress and my Passwort on the following site. Furthermore I can also add a new game without using the SE ID:

https://membership.square-enix.com/users/sign_in

So, yeah in fact I didn't need my square enix ID at any point till I had it registered with the code.. and now they want my SE ID + PW to log in..o_O
As a matter of fact I first asked myself the same question that you are asking right now, but I had to discover that SE ID =/= SE Account

I know that it works like that, but as I told you I almost have forgotten all of the details that they want to know. Is there some kind of "hotline", I mean like I would need someone on the phone to tell them what happened.

Ok, yeah that makes more sense, I didn't even realize that it was possible to log in without the ID.

This post seems to have the NA phone number:

Don't know if that will be of help, it seems like you're meant to go through the site and get a ticket number before you call in...

Another very interesting GameWatch interview, translated by the heroic Reinheart :D

2nd day just ended for Gamescom, what is the reaction to the event.
Y: I felt that people in Germany are very energetic. They enjoy it directly so the media’s response is very well and it’s really fun taking part. We also have been nominated for best PC Game, even though it’s only nominate it makes me happy (laugh)

FFXIV have done live demo in the previous Gamescom but is there a particular reason behind this?
Y: There isn’t anything particular with Gamescom but thinking of PC game market we can’t leave out the German market and also is most popular area in Europe so if we can’t get here we can’t put much cost into Europe region. We have to think about the profit. I want everyone around the world to play and there are many fans of Final Fantasy series in Germany. I was wondering why FFXIV wasn’t stuck in Germany.

Are you talking about the current Final Fantasy XIV?
Y: Yes. Really in Germany there isn’t much stores where you can use credit cards and possession of credit card it self is low. Of course this is comparing with other regions, so I have learned that we have to make other schemes aside from credit card billing. There are lots of MMO fans.

So in that, the response was good?
Y: Yes, Earlier people from FFXIV Linkshell came over and they were looking from far but once our eyes met they asked to take pictures. It will be something to remember.

This time, you finally showed the live demo. About how much of the graphics is complete?
Y: I would think about 90%. Remaining is the fur shader and water. I’m not satisfied with the water yet. For the fur shader moogles hair and player characters hair will look much better.

What will change for the water?
Y: Regarding water, we applied the water shader but I think the way the shader is places is dirty. Currently in Tokyo’s office it should already be a different water shader which is one step ahead.

Currently it still looks CG-ish and patterns, will those change?
Y: At E3 Nakamura-san stated the “Atmosphere feeling is crazy (good way)” but I believe for water that feeling isn’t there yet. There are methods of giving a effect of light reflecting so it depends on how to blend those in. There are water which are natural and photo realistic. Other than that the lighting within the buildings or dungeon is the part I’m not satisfied. From Japan I’m receiving brand new screenshots so I’m giving instructions as I check here in Germany.

Regarding water, will there be waves at the ocean, have different appearance at rivers?
Y: Of course we are working on the ones that will be needed, we also have a water fall. The river is working but it’s not wavy.

For the waves is it being displayed through physical simulation?
Y: No, for that part it’s low tech and we are using patterns. To make it run on many PC’s with different specs we have to cut out on the parts we can (laugh). The goal is to blend in low tech and high tech carefully to create a more natural photo realistic scenery than current Final Fantasy XIV

Regarding lighting within buildings, is it where you can apply ambient light even in dark area to show the shadow?
Y: yes, currently it’s perfect with “directional light” meaning the direct light from the environment but when this is combined with “All direction lighting” the representation of the inner structure is still lacking so we’re working on that part. That is the reason we haven’t released any screenshots of inside buildings.

Limit break trailer still had the CG feel but when it’s complete would it feel more realistic like the current forest field? When would this be complete?
Y: By end of August, the reason I can say this is because I already saw the newest screenshot and can see the implementation (laugh)

There wasn’t much information regarding the PS3 version, what’s the reason behind why nothing was announced this time and when do you suspect the release?
Y: We are optimizing right now. The PC graphics you saw this time on the Core i5 Notebook PC is the PS3 versions standard. The memory size is overwhelmingly different so for that part we have to make some reductions there. We have set the PC versions max quality so remaining is the memory.

When comparing to PC the memory is really low. How will you lower the texture resolution or add in fakes?
Y: Memory is low for sure. We will lower the textures resolution but will make it blended in and will change the LoD (Level of Detail). For LoD it’s completely in so in Core i5 notebook demo there were lots of LoD but it’s to a point you won’t notice so for PS3 I’m thinking it won't change much as well. We would like to show it along with PS3’s UI at around end of September.

By saying PS3’s UI does it look different from the Windows version UI that was shown this time?
Y: Yes, In PS3 you can’t choose mouse+keyboard mode so the memory distribution is completely different.

I see, so the one we’re seeing now is Mouse+Keyboard UI?
Y: Yes, there is also something called gamepad mode and PS3 will be for that. For PC you can also choose the gamepad mode.

What kind of display does gamepad mode have?
Y: The hot bar is completely different, also we’re calling it cross hot bar but if you can imagine from that. Please wait little bit more for this one. For gamepad mode it will be completely new from current version. This is the part where I was making final checks right before I left to Germany.

Could you please explain the basic goals for Mouse+Keyboard mode and gamepad mode?
Y: For Mouse+Keyboard mode it’s “Global Standard”. Basically when players from “World of Warcraft” and players from “RIFT” play Final Fantasy XIV they don’t have to check the keybind to play.

That’s bold idea and some will have negative comments for this one. They would say why didn’t you go with original.
Y: For this one I have a clear answer. I like FPS games and I play them a lot but no matter which game you play the key assign for fire is all same right? Having a original keybind doesn’t make the game fun. In a MMORPG moving from one to another is hard so in a game which you lived in 3 years, 5 years and moving from one country, depending on environment you have to move to a completely new planet and the stress when moving from one to another is very high. If the UI’s are same you won’t feel as much stress. In order to succeed in an MMORPG I believe that’s the minimum requirement. For mouse+keyboard movements there are standards and I believe changing it because it’s convenient isn’t the way to go every time.

So for the mouse+keyboard UI you are using the standard layout correct?
Y: Yes, you will have option to switch to Final Fantasy XIV’s original bindings as well but aside from the we are preparing default MMO keybind and that is based on World of Warcraft and RIFT.

At the stage event you mentioned you will have all the Primals and with current FFXIV there are lots of primals (summons) that isn’t released yet. In what ways will they come out? Right now we fight them as a great opponent but can we have them as friends or call them out like FFXI.
Y: Basically they are enemy. When you view entire Eorzea you know that it’s located somewhere on planet Hyderin, and if you look at the press kit released this time you can see the mother crystal but the primals drain the ether energy from it, there are different types of savage tribes and by them wishing to summon the primals they are feeding off of planets energy. By calling the primals the planet itself will be destroyed and you are fighting to avoid that. And by pushing them back into their world you can summon them by borrowing some of their powers.

So in reborn Eorzea by defeating those primals you can use part of their power?
Y: There is a play style where you can play with the summons aside from the story and a content that will be updated constantly. We have something prepared for a new primal battle and for adventurers to obtain the summon it will be through that. For difficulty it’s not something after the current primal battles.

I see, so if you win these new primal battles?
Y: The entire free company will have the right for the summon. Everyone needs to charge the summoning gauge and summon it out. It’s something like that.

In previous interviews it was stated that when you call the primal they deal great damage but is it to a point where you can defeat enemies such as raid bosses in one shot? Unlike FFXI where you can have the summon out entire time but more like a bomb in a shooting game, will it be used in that way?
Y: Yes. We will do it to a point where we went too far in a MMO. For me Final Fantasy is something like that, and the primals are that symbol.

In the Limit Break trailer Meteor came down at the end but something like that right?
Y: Yes, exactly like that.

Also FFVII’s Goldsaucer being released as a casino was a happy news for FF fans. Aside from that Crystal Tower and Magitch Armor, there are many catching keywords but could you please explain the current status for each.
Y: First off Crystal Tower is a raid dungeon. It will be a new type of dungeon which none of the players have tried in current version.

When saying Crystal Tower, the image is that it takes long. From my personal memory it was really long that I left my Famicom’s power on while I went to school (laugh). How much of that will be reproduced?
Y: Yes (laugh) you couldn’t warp out and stuff. We will have some parts we put in consideration but reason why we can talk about to “Decide to warp back by wiping” is because Final Fantasy was able to continue for 25 years. And there are generation of players who don’t know that, they will say “I can’t understand why you can’t save” but to those people old fans like myself can say “No it’s different” I think for an MMO that is the good part where any age, race, players from the world can pay.

Is it like please keep in mind that it’s going to take longer than 3 hours
Y: It’s not even 3 hours (laugh) I can’t talk about the details but there are phases and when looking at it entirely it will take a long time. It won’t be the end with just one and will be a content that will be updated to go higher and higher.

Sounds like another companies title “Druaga’s Tower”
Y: Yes (laugh) With updates it will go higher and higher so with this patch will be till here, next patch will be more... image is something like that.

I see, so the Crystal Tower itself is a large scale content. When will this be released?
Y: We are planning at the launch of FFXIV 2.0 There are many players at level 50 so for them I would like this to be the first goal.

Regarding Magitek Armor you mentioned the players can ride them but from current gmes image it doesn’t feel like where Magitek Armors moving.
Y: For that part I’m not really particular about. I think it’s alright for the Magitek Armors to be moving around the current fields, reason is because they are Imperials weapon. The machine came from Garlean Empire’s lands so it won’t feel like it would blend with current world but it’s more fun being able to ride them and I think it’s alright to be able to ride them.

Are there different variations of the Magitek Armor? Can you replace parts to increase the movement speed?
Y: For this one the plans are coming in. The designer is really into it. For the mount’s speed, making them faster will decrease the value of other mounts so I think it’s difficult to change the speed. I don’t want to ride it but since it’s faster I will ride this, it ends up that way. I want everyone to ride different mounts so I don’t plan on changing much on the speed. But would like to make changes to the looks.

Will everyone who wants to obtain the Magitek Armor ride them?
Y: I believe everyone would be able to. We are also aiming for release at same time as launch. It’s close line right now. To obtain it you will need to clear a content and it’s something that comes out in the storyline.

Regarding Gold Saucer that was announced for the first time, you said that this will be a casino content but what can we expect from it? Would it be like Las Vegas where there are different types of games?
Y: Yes, Las Vegas’s image is right. Players can play poker between players, do roulets, and also will have original games. You can imagine it being something mae under Ul’dah where you have greed for wealth.

The BGM for Gold Saucer was memorable, Crystal Tower as well, will FF related content have reappearance of those BGM?
Y: Of course. Not much of current BGM will be left. We are aiming for music where old fans can feel that this is FF by arranging the crystal theme or arranging the level up music. We just put in the final Neil Van Darnus battle and for that there is an opera which we received comments on the forum that it reminded them of Sephiroth. That music is really popular on the forums and we also released a lyrics in Latin. This is the FF like feel so I am particular with the musics.

For Gold Saucer when is the release date? Would it be 6 month, year ahead from service start?
Y: I belive the span would be something like that. First I would like to put in PvP content and housing so it will be after that.

Aside from the 3 contents that was confirmed what other contents are being planned? Will you bring things from those that wasn’t mentioned yet such as FFIV and FFII?
Y: We will be updating through patches but would like to do many things through expansions. For example if going to the sky I want to make it like FFXII, it will depend on the next material. We will first pull it off with Crystal Tower and another content I can’t talk about yet.

Next regarding the story, you mentioned in Eorzea Reborn will have a new story as a new Final Fantasy series title. Could you please explain the story?
Y: There are 3 major parts, first being how to fight against the Garlean invasion. This is from the current version. I will make sure to settle this one. And will continue as a backbone. The fight against the empire is one of the major story. 2nd one is battle against the Primals. This is a problem not only for Eorzea but the entire planet and find out how to make the savage tribes not use them. This is also battle against the tribes.

So for the story with the savage tribes will have stories related to primals?
Y: Yes, there is a story behind each primals. Even in the current version other tribes are talking about Garuda. This will also be a long story. And the 3rd story starting reborn Final Fantasy XIV till the next expansion which talks about what was the 7th Umbral Era about?

The current world is in danger right now but would that mean that story would be process of inspecting the reasons behind that critical situation?
Y: Why did that much disaster occur, why is the world in this state, the 7th umbral era hasn’t reached it’s finale yet. I can’t speak much yet but there are parts that remain a mystery and will be followed up throughout the year until the expansion is released.

In the recent update the 12 gods existence has been brought up but how will this be related?
Y: They relate to primals, and 7th umbral era as well. Sharlean which have been studying the events of Hyderin will also be much more involved. And Final Fantasy XIV reborn will also relate to it. There will be new characters as well.

For the forest field we see a church that is related to the 12 gods, that also gives a new story’s feel.
Y: Yes, the settings is that it existed from before but really I wanted to do marriage so I told them to build a church (laugh). The other day I received from players that they will be marrying and I wanted them to marry in Eorzea. I was saying this from early stages but at same time I have it blended in with the world environment/story.

For the 7th Umbral Era story, when will it end? Also when will the server stop?
Y: For the timing once we are to the point where we can announce the date will let you know. Please wait little bit more.

Doesn’t seem too far away but will the current server stop when alpha test starts?
Y: I think that’s a close line. Not all people will be able to participate in alpha test and alpha test itself is for server load testing.

So for alpha test not all current FFXIV players get to participate?
Y: This is basically server load test so it’s impossible for everyone. And it’s not for them to play but to actually participate in the testing. For playing, that will be from beta.

Yesterday at the group interview we talked about content finder and notification feature but could you please explain a bit more about these two new features?
Y: For Content Finder when you open the widget you can choose previously explored dungeon, content. If it’s a content requiring a party, you select the dungeon, your class, class you need or level restrictions, or categories such as “Want to gain EXP” and for example you can choose stuff like “Japanese only” from pulldown menu. When sending the request you can do whatever you want until the party is formed and once formed you will get an announcement so you press a button to teleport and start inside the dungeon. Basically that’s what content finder is. You will be able to use it aside from dungeons for party contents.
For the notification feature for example say you Mr. Nakamura went back to Japan and when you logged in after some time you might be like “What was I doing before I left?” at that time it will display the 10 subjects in the widget for stuff you can do. For new contents it will show “New” and depending on current area, class it will display optimal content. It’s vertical list UI and if it’s in the way you can move it around or you can close it or also set it so it doesn’t update, or can update after changing zones.

For the notification feature by clicking the content in the list can you teleport to the entrance of that content?
Y: In future it’s highly possible that’s how it will be but at present time it’s not made to do that much. If it’s quest it will open up the map and displays the location and stuff like that. This will also be implemented at launch.

The PvP system you are committed to release, is it related to the storyline of Garlean empire? Could you please explain the timing PvP systems scale and release timing?
Y: There is no direct connection. There is an episode to explain the reason why that place is battle ground but for for PvP I have been saying that it won’t be something forced to players. I really don’t like to make players who don’t want to do it to participate.
For PvP there are Arena style where you fight inside a colosseum where you fight a monster which you get to see and start with “Ready Go!” style it’s like “Tenkaichi Butoukai” as an image (Dragon Ball for those who don’t know ) The other one is a large scale PvP where there is a specific map and you try to take over the castle. We will release from the colosseum, and planning a 4vs4 and 8vs8 as base. For the large scale one with the map it will require minimum of 8vs8vs8 - 3 team battle. From game play experience and development until now I believe it’s fun to have this type of battle. I talked to the game designer from “Warhammer Online” yesterday and we were talking about why they didn’t make the battle with 3 teams, they wanted to do something different from “Dark Age of Camelot” and wanted to do the 3 team. We left off saying once FFXIV is reborn lets challenge each other in PvP (Laugh)

For the large scale PvP what scale are you imagening?
Y: As much players possible, I want to make it so it’s as much people that gathers. In any MMO this can be said the same. Basically it’s unlimited. To a point it doesn’t crash the server. Also I lead a raid in another MMORPG’s PvP Raid and because I gathered too many people it crashed the server. If I look back now I really want to apologize for what I have done but it was a good memory (laugh)

In the joint interview, you stated for the alpha test you want to get people at Gridania, for what reason did you choose Gridania?
Y: It’s alpha test so we’re not releasing the entire game. Gridania will be the most memorable place with the most changes. I want to do alpha test here. Planning to expand to other areas gradually but I can say Gridania will leave the most impression of Final Fantasy XIV reborn.
Currently the worst image we got was the Black Shroud where we received voices such as “this isn’t even a forest, makes us depressed so don’t do it!”..... so this time we are particularly into the “trees” and how the forest is expressed. For processing it’s also the heaviest area so I would like to test here.

Also for the forest field’s tree’s are they procedural and being built automatically or they manually built?
Y: It’s both mixed. It’s hybrid but I believe you won't be able to see the pattern. For other regions the grass is basically the same.

For areas I’m concerned about zoning and processing to switch areas. How is it going to be?
Y: It won’t be different from Final Fantasy XI. When you go to the next area it will change drastically, something like that.

So the current existing areas will be broken up into sections?
Y: yes; for example for the “Forest region” I think it will be about 4-5 sections. However right now we are only showing beautiful areas but there are places that would make you think “Why is this place like this” This is right outside of Gridania so when you think you’re walking in a beautiful place you will end up in a place that’s totally different.

Do you mean like the latest screenshot you released with Ishgards fort being destroyed, why did this happen?
Y: Not sure if it was how I wrote being bad but it was taken in wrong and it’s not actually entire Ishgard being destroyed. Only Ishgards “Fort” is destoryed, the main country isn’t destoryed. I heard from NA players that “They thought they can go but was destoryed” but I had it posted so it’s not that way. You will able to go there. These parts we need to recover. I believe that is also the duty of Final Fantasy XIV reborn.

Is there anything you can talk about beta test at current timing?
Y: Right now it depends on how alpha is completed. So I don’t plan on giving specific date. First receive feedbacks and fix what can be fixed then move onto the next step. Can’t say alpha in fall, and beta during winter. It’s OK to expect both alpha and beta within this year but beta will depend on alpha and as soon as possible.
Also for the release schedule I don’t plan on rushing, previously FFXIV launch test was really bad impression for all players and there are many people worried. I would like to start at state where it’s flawless.

..continue..

2nd part..

In the last few years Square-Enix has been increasing with online games such as social games and browser based games. Also Dragon Quest X service started. Within own company games there may be fans fighting over between games but what kind of position do you want Eorzea Reborn to be as an MMORPG?
Y: For Dragon Quest X I believe lots of players who never played online game will come in from Japan. Like history of RPG there is Wizardry and Dragon Quest then Final Fantasy. Dragon Quest can be played with relief while Final Fantasy is little bit harder but can really get into. I believe there will be people who can come from Dragon Quest X to Final Fantasy XIV. You mentioned fighting over each other but the profit is same so rather than them going to another companies game it stays within our own so we don’t have that feeling at all.

For Dragon Quest X users are there any plans that will benefit them?
Y: I have good relationship with Mr. Saito and I also have been involved with Dragon Quest X’s development and listed in the staff credit so we did talk about doing something together. Would be nice if we can make it possible.

For 2.0 Final Fantasy XIV are there any possibilities to release for Mac or Wii U or Xbox 360?
Y: I get this question a lot but I didn’t say anything aside from the promised PS3 version and don’t think I should say anything. There are this many people waiting for PS3 version in the world so first I have to fulfill that with game quality which that can satisfy them. I belive that the first job. I think for other releases should be thought out afterwards.
Like you saw this time the graphics engine, game engine is very flexible so it’s not hard to match other environments. Other than that it will depends on online environment or management, to continue on 10 years we want to have many players from around the world to play so I won’t say it’s not impossible but first is PS3.

After the Gamescom event there is a 25th anniversary Final Fantasy event. There is a plan for a session with you but what are you planning to release here?
Y: I will release new information for the game. So far the announcement was outside of Japan so it’s going to be recap of all the info until now plus more, I would like to release new information so please look forward to it.

Lastly please give a message towards all the users looking forward to FFXIV.
Y: This goes for me as well but from the developments side we came to a timing where we can finally show something that is working. We have been making all the players wait a long time but from a point of MMO redevelopment this year and a half is really really short time and we have been working at a miraculous speed to this point. This time I don’t want to release until the I am 100% confident regarding the quality. Would appreciate if you can please look forward to different information and materials that will be released.
Also for the current version it’s finally near grand finale, you will see a last that you will never see again so please keep a close eye on this one. 3-4 years after FFXIV 2.0 you may feel that you should of taken part in it (laugh) I was there when Ultima Online server finished you can only get that feeling at that time. That kind of feeling will happen in FFXIV. We will put in our full effort for that “thing” so please look forward to that as well.

Thank you.

I'm fairly certain it will turnout all right but I hope I am not the only one that is a bit concerned how 'candid' Yoshida is about borrowing so many elements from past final fantasy's at the rate he is talking about them? I know its a problem of "We were missing FF elements in the original game, don't worry we plan to make this new one full of them!" but I really think he needs to start talking more about what makes this game stand out from the previous games in the series. Talk more about the story, get people excited not just for the nostalgia but all the new experiences. Each Final Fantasy game stood alone but had quirky references from past games by either stating a name, or a completely new take on an old idea and we usually found this out by simply playing and it wasn't the ultimate focus pre-release.

I guess what I want to hear more isn't just the nostalgia bomb but an original iteration with the older content. I guess my main concern is its like revealing a magic trick... you don't tell people that something is going to be in it and why you are compelled to add it, you surprise them with it and let people call it genius. I hope once FFXIV 2.0 finally releases he actually becomes a bit less candid on this subject because some of my favorite stuff from FFXI came from nostalgia bombs out of no where like CoP introducing phoenix, Omega and Ultima weapon and we got no warning of their arrival ahead of time till the patch included the contents.

I'm fairly certain it will turnout all right but I hope I am not the only one that is a bit concerned how 'candid' Yoshida is about borrowing so many elements from past final fantasy's at the rate he is talking about them?

Yeah, I have some conceptual concerns about the level of fan service going on, but... as its been implemented thus far, I haven't had any problems.

Like, I'm disappointed that we're once again stuck with the six most standard summons as the Primals. I'd love to see them take some risks with new summons and monsters and stuff, rather than (brilliantly) rehashing everything.

I do understand the strategy behind it, though, as much as I wish it wasn't the case. Even though part of me enjoyed how bold XIII was in its design reimagining of FF, a lot of people didn't.

And, hey, at least they're making this "Final Fantasy" feel like this instead of like IX.

so is it still possible to become a legacy member? The site says if you pay for 90 days from january 2012 to the start of 2.0 which seems like it will be in january or further out.

If I restart a sub for 90 days starting today will I become a legacy member? I bought the game day 1 and played until the free sub ran out. Have never paid before.

I believe the deadline was sometime in June so unfortunately it's over.

Should probably update the title of the thread to say something like "2.0 Legacy deadline is over" considering how many people ask.

http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/backnumber?ym=201205

In order to fulfill the requirements for the Legacy Campaign, a player must register his/her copy of the game no later than Thursday, May 31, 2012, and have subscribed for a minimum of 90 days beyond the conclusion of your free trial period.

http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/campaign/campaign.html#legacy

It certainly does look like they caused some confusion about the legacy campaign but basically it takes 4 months of paid subscription to be eligible and because of the deadline requirements it means that anyone who registers after may 31st simply is not up for this. Older account holders may have a chance but the new people are out of luck.

Oy, United We Stand did not go well last night. I had us trying to follow this, but we were usually overwhelmed with soldiers, and could barely do any damage to the transmitter. Any help?

Looks like a little bit of new news will be at PAX Prime:

There will also be a FINAL FANTASY XIV presentation of the demo content being now presented at gamescom and a couple of additional reveals!

United we stand is really easy. 1 whm, 1 brd, one dd for the main reactor and the rest warriors who steel cyclone the shit out of that fight. Whoever of the wars get hate from the machine kites it until another war gets hate from destroying one of the three pillars.

I was hoping to try and get some quest(s) done yesterday since I managed to log in after all, but got a chance at reaching 50 on my pug/mnk and took it - I wonder if Imperial Devices is soloable at that level, or someone else in the LS needs to get that done too.

I could do it, simply because I haven't done it yet, and I could use the seals anyway. I'm at 45 mrd/war now.

If I'm remembering correctly, you're on European time (or was that someone else)? What time do you usually play?

Imperial Devices is easily soloable at 50, except that you need a party of at least 2 people to enter The Thousand Maws of Toto-rak (that is what that quest is, right?).

Really liking the XP and gil you get from missions. So much travelling though. Ugh. I teamed up with my sister and we split the anima costs.

Now Im at Futures Perfect and need to hit level 46 before I can do that. Shouldnt be too much longer. The story is actually semi-interesting now. I was so uninterested in it at first but they turned it around. Some cool cutscenes in there, too.

As far as the GC quests go, Im going to do It Kills With Fire (Limsa) tonight and maybe the mission right after that. Really hoping to clear these out before 2.0 and its looking like thats going to happen. Im happy.

Im due for another billing cycle in 4 days. My account lists me as recurring 90 days for billing but didnt they remove the 90 day option? Im inclined to leave it alone just to see what happens.

Yep, on GMT. I usually manage to log in at around 9p.m., but that's not likely today (off to watch Expendables 2 tonight with a friend). When I did first try the dungeon I basically winged not knowing what to expect, found the 4 key items to open a gate, avanced a bit more and entered a room with a scorpion boss, which I should have focused on instead of his adds - I take it beating the boss would have been enough to declare the quest complete.

Poking around a bit, I found this guide, which shows there are actually 3 boss rooms (IIRC I did Antares).

It's been a while, so I don't recall if I met the NPC for the quest, but according to an early reply here it might appear for whichever gate you open first.

I'm in US Central time, so I usually get home from work around an hour after you'd log on. So from that angle, it seems like it might line up OK (assuming you play for more than an hour, anyway). If you want to do it tonight after you get back, I should be on; otherwise, maybe tomorrow?

I can't say for sure since I turned my 180 day option off when it came time to pay again (and thus went to 30 day option) but I think it was mentioned on the legacy page that if you don't manually go back to 30 day option your account will be deactivated till you do go to the 30 day option.

As for your questing, get ready to be excited/disappointed with Futures Perfect. Easily the best quest, leaves you on a cliff hanger and there is no more quests after it. Its the stopping point we got at launch and it hasn't been expanded upon. Its supposed to start up again with revisions in 2.0 but we don't know how much it will change. Thankfully that is what the replay viewer is for, you can use that to watch all the new revised cut scenes in 2.0!

Is the BLM AF gear better than most stuff that I can earn from GC seals? If not, what's the best way to earn seals as a lv50 BLM?

Check the Lodestone for more details, but you need to go and change yourself to the 30-day option or your subscription is just going to end.

I didn't check most GC mages gear, but probably (and depending of which GC you pertain) there will be some pieces that will be better than AF. Also I found there's some really good accesories.

And the best way to earn seas as BLM? definetly scort caravan, but to be done effectively you'll need around 6 ppl at least.

I'll probably be beck home little before midnight and I rarely get sleepy before 1 or 2 a.m., so I'll try to log on when I get home.
I'm in as Loona Mash, can you remind me of your character's name?

I thought the late game GC quests take place afterwards. Or any quest focusing on dalmuds falling.

Damn, really? Well, I wanted to see it all in game before it was gone for good so Im happy for that. Nice to hear you liked it too. I was impressed with some of the later stuff in the main storyline. The
Ifrit summoning
scene was awesome.

Im hoping the story (either main or GC) eventually hits that CoP-ish feel of scale and difficulty. I hear the later GC quests right now are pretty close to that.

I watched the voiced cut-scene for Futures perfect last night while trying out my new 5.1 surround system (Of which I might add I recommend people try, the game has a surprisingly good 5.1 audio setup even while playing out in the field) and its still pretty good. I actually think a lot of the current GC quest cut-scenes are better, but there is no doubt it had an impact back at launch, one of the few things to look forward to with so little content lol. Just remember the main story came out before the GC quests, you get introduced 'for the first time' to a predominant character in the GC quests during the finals scenes of the quest.

As for the later fights for GC. Nothing quite hits pre-nerf Ultima and Omega fights from CoP but the final fight against Darnus is nothing to scoff at. Requires coordination, patience and skill from everyone in the party, the beauty of it though is outside of a WHM or two and a couple BLM's you don't need a 'perfect' setup to win that fight, you need skilled people who know how to play their job.

Im glad you mentioned this. I was wondering about when the current main quest was completed and how/if it related to the GC line at all. So Yoshi-P and his team had nothing to do with the main scenario? The quests, as they are now, are exactly as they were at launch?
The main scenario always mentioned Ifrit and Garuda, etc but its the GC questline that took them and expanded on it?

I played at launch but lost interest so quickly that I stopped caring about the main scenario shortly after hitting Fade to White. I wasnt even around anymore once all the GC stuff started popping up.

U/O is one of the best fights in any game ever for me. I had such a feeling of accomplishment after it. I re-did the fight last year to help a group of randoms and it was easy as hell. Depressing.

Hearing about Darnus is re-assuring, though. Could be a sign of things to come. At least the devs arent making the whole thing a cakewalk.
I also hear the later battlefields in the GC line are beautiful to look at.

GC has some pretty insanse BLM gear. Some pieces better than double melds.

Yeah basically the original main quest was all implemented at launch before the restructuring. I think the only things they have changed are a couple key bits of dialogue (1 of the Limsa quests used to reference a male admiral and was changed to a female admiral when Merylwb got introduced into the game) and also changed some of the level requirements for the early missions. For instance it used to be you got new quests at lvl 1, lvl 8 lvl 13, lvl 15 and lvl 20, now you can get th lvl 20 one done at lvl 18ish, and a couple others after that done sooner. The GC line of quests is meant to exist after the main missions chronologically. Ifrit is the only primal that actually manifested before Yoshida came on board, but we saw images of Garuda around Launch (She was the angelic figure on the Limited Edition box!). Titan is also another primal that was made before Yoshida came on board but his 'battle' and story never got added before the change and has been delayed till 2.0 now when the story picks back up again. It had fully voiced cutscenes and everything too! (but we only found it in the .dat files as audio, never got to see the scenes).

Honestly once you get to a certain fight in your GC quests you start needing other people. There is a fight that has a maximum capacity of 3 people but doing it solo is basically impossible and doing it with 2 is possible but extremely hard. You basically need to get a small party of 3 to beat that fight without too much problems. Then you have the transmitter fight which requires you fight/run your way through lots of lvl 54-63 mobs. To win the fight at the transmitter is pretty easy now that people have figured out the mechanics but when it first came out barely anyone knew what to do. Saw endless corpses on the first night at the entrance to the arena. The background for the Darnus fight reminds of Empyrial Paradox from CoP fused to the Walk of Echoes and a little of Grandia 1 style structures lol.

I have a good idea what I want to do with the OT. One thing I need is very high quality gifs of Hildebrand doing each of his poses.

EDIT: Maybe a gif of him

All good to hear. Im excited.

You know what was annoying? Doing the main scenario with my sister and having to disband the party every few minutes because certain cutscenes and instances had to be viewed solo. DId they scrap that stuff for the GC quests?

Yes they did scrap that for GC quests, Yoshida has a very different philosophy for the main mission line where the original developers wanted the main missions to be solo oriented and wanted as much control as possible to make sure it was solo oriented. He wants more 'companionship' when fighting a larger threat. In 2.0 it sounds like we are going to get a mix of both styles but combat fights will not block you from fighting if you are formed with someone else. In fact most of the cutscene in game has your whole party in them while its happening, and when you go back to review the scenes in the scene viewer you only see yourself.

Titan is in the Opening FMV, and has an in game model made but due to the developers shake up you never actually see or hear about him in the story for 1.0 (now or even in the GC quests), it was supposed to be the next part of the story before it got postponed.

I dont know if anyone is interested in starting a new one of these but, back when FFXIV first launched, we had that gaf spreadsheet where we all filled in our classes, cities, etc. I tweaked the original to add jobs and grand companies and figured Id post it here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ar5mJHxtjN9sdEYyVXBCejFRbTZtVWJ2WHlGMTlMLUE

The old one is kind of a mess and I bet half the people dont even play.

I think it's helpful. Maybe add it to the OP for the 2.0 OT? I added my info regardless.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/52578-Triple-Triad-in-2.0-Make-it-happen-devs%21

For some reason Yoshi P thinks games like this need to have some kind of reward. Playing is fun and that's rewarding enough for me. Gimme Triple Triad (or Tetra Master) Yoshi!

I would kill for some version of Triple Triad. I don't care what platform it's on, just give it to me!
