They just did a test stream. They mentioned the benchmark a lot and previewed the new Ul'dah theme. I guess the benchmark will be here very soon. (Google translate says midnight JP time but not sure how accurate that is).

Edit: JP side also apparently saying media embargo ends then too (1hr 50 mins from now).

The game looks really lively now, thanks to the NPC animations!

EDIT: Wow, the 'exploration' trailer is epic.

Man... wat?! This looks sooo good. Familiar yet different in every good way. I can't wait to play this. I need it in my veins.

The Cross Hot Bar interface looks really slick too. Very easy and intuitive. May just end up using it. C'mon Beta!

If the game actually runs as smooth as that did... damn. Also, seems a little weird that there's no true fullscreen mode for the benchmark.

I was thinking that too, that smooth during actually gameplay would be insane amounts of win. I'm doubtful, but... if... just if... :lol

Aye the Alpha was quite smooth, but I still got frame skips etc. It was nowhere near as smooth as this Benchmark.

"On that note, is FFXIV going to possibly head to free-to-play? It all depends on what happens when the relaunch takes place, but it's certainly not the first plan. Yoshida definitely feels that the subscription model is the better option, at least initially. "Every game wants to be a subscription game," he argues. It's not that free-to-play is a bad model, but it can be unreliable, prone to wild shifts in revenue over time. It also can be less consistent for the players, with some free-to-play games essentially started as disposable enterprises that players aren't expected to connect with. Players in general can find the environment less welcoming. I was especially curious to see what he felt about the North American players. From my perspective, the FFXIV community has always been very contentious and often negative. Imagine my surprise to find that Yoshida feels the NA community is far more positive as a whole than the Japanese community."

That may have given false hope to a lot of people still demanding F2P/B2P. Poor bastards. :(

Tweaked my gpu a bit, new score is 8404. :)

I really hope they let us download the beta client a couple days in advance, I'm going to be on the road on the 25th, and could probably play from my hotel, but downloading the whole client could be iffy...

I can't believe the game looks this good and runs this well! Such a turnaround from FFXIV 1.0. Yoshida & Co. really knocked it out of the park with this game visually.

Did anyone notice the stats above the party list in the gamepad video ?

Wonder if this is the party buff system they were hinting at on the Alpha forums.
