Man, I burned out hard on ROG at level 28. Log in today to see tons of people hovering around 30. Queues are still bad, but there's light at the end of the tunnel now that I'm 29. So close to being able to make all of the rabbits. So very... very... close. Now I just need that HA Ninja blade to drop tonight and I'm set.

There are already level 50s out there in the wild. The highest NIN online on our server was 46 when I checked before work, and this player is somebody I often see at Fragrant Logs and Umbral Rocks.

I think it's ridiculous if people were expecting the new tomes to flow the way it did when hunt was first introduced. Sorry, new content doesn't work that way. Don't like dungeons? Wait a few more patches when they will invariably increase the rate to catch everyone up.

Are hunts really better than dungeons?

Well, they are not instanced DF content...

Is there room in XIV for a Red Mage class?

I never played XI so I have to wonder how they handled it there. Was it a class that could be healer, magic dps or melee dps, but never excel at anything? Must have been something more to it than that.

No, for the same reason as Blue Mage.

Yes, RDM was a "jack of all trade" and one of stronger cast in the game in solo. FFXI Job System was incredible flexible and put an heavy emphasis on debuffing the mobs and buff your party, Haste, Regen, Slow, DoT, etc. Also MP Regen in FFXI was SERIOUS BUSINESS, and RDM was particularly infamous for basically having infinite MP and the ability to replenish other Mages MP.

Having different ways of progress is not necessarily bad.

What I don't understand is why people who hate Hunts felt like they needed to take part in them necessarily.

Because they were crazy efficient.
Crafting and Desynthesis are a lot like that, Desynth is a stupid ridiculous game of embracing hopelessness and RNG but if you want to stay competitive at crafting you should probably do it.

With the expansion, do you think we'll see bigger zones where exploration is more of a thing? I've always looked at exploration as one of the weaker points of FFXIV. The rare time I found myself wondering where a path went was while going through the cave where the Belly Full fate happens in Coeurthas, and even that is small beans.

I don't expect anything on par with Guild Wars 2, which is pretty amazing for exploration, but a significant step up would be nice.

Well, at the very least, zones will probably be bigger since we'll have flying chocobos.

hands off the blade unless you going to 50 bro. Shouldve beaten bookey last night

ultros and typhon fight is pretty fun, gave 5 poetics too
i think the ultros minion is a 100% drop since it was the only loot, but you'll have to win the roll to get it

Yes

They will probably add poetics back to hunts in 2.5 when we're in the catch-up phase of the patch cycle. Hopefully.

While I fully expect this, I don't think they'll ever make hunts such a lucrative form of Primal Tome farming ever again. It really did heavily reduce the number of people participating in instanced content.

I like dungeons, but it'd be more fun if they dropped gear and not mats. :)

They drop i90 gear tomes, and acessories. More versatile than the previous dungeons drops, because you can choose what class you want it. Although it isn't a new set like the i80 stuff :(

I wish it was that way for coil.

I'm glad you mentioned this...I thought I was just tired and seeing shit when I thought this was happening last night.

I think higher level content is more taxing on higher level equipment. Also explains why I fully SB my auroal gear while runing the new dungeons once.

Based on the four-star crafting requirements, FC crafters are going to be asking for those FC crafting buffs a whole lot more unless we fully meld our off-hands with a bunch of tier 4s.

I don't understand. Yoshida said they'd relax on catch up for crafting, but they didn't, at all, unless you count possibility of buying new Artisan/Forager gear off MB for insane dosh that, and the new tier is just ridiculously prohibitive. I get that 110 gear should probably be hard to make, but this is just nonsense.

The crafter struggle is always real, if you're on top you stay there.
Simple as that. Everyone below can't even begin to fuck with 4 star. Let alone gear up to it.
At least now artisan gear is a single set, I hated having to move from the old patrician's to multi melding various crafter sets.

Well tough luck. You'll get brave new world instead.

I was actually thinking of upgrading my crp a bit, but from what I checked desynth is "required". Guess I'll settle for artisan gear + whatever crafting food I'll make.

Baramoht took down the FC crafting buffs while I was mid-craft last night, I am blaming him for the NQ that followed. Blowing away millions of gil is fun, right?

Yeah, I don't really understand why they've gated off the crafting content so much. I sort of hope they have plans to reform it in some way in 3.0 to make it more accessible and not such a massive investment.

Any word on whether flying chocos are a specific mount or your regular choco? I hope it's regular.
I want Hobbes to take to the skies.

I suspect it'll be a whole new Chocobo, that starts out way back at level 1 again. The reason for this, is because it was stated that flying mounts would be slower on the ground than regular mounts. My guess, Flying mounts will move at the current mount speed on ground, while current mounts get the speed buff.

is there a crossbuy feature for the ps4 version or must that be bought separately?

No cross buy, one purchase per system of choice required to link to the account. If you can manage to find a PS3 version on the cheap, the PS4 version upgrade option still exists btw. But anyway, if you want to play on PC you have to buy a PC version, PS3/PS4 same deal.

Another thing, are they going to be seamless and not zoned off? I've heard they are.

The best part was, we went in there... got the cane, axe and ninja cleavers after 3 kills. lol and we needed those. Took 13 more clears to get the sword. -_-

T5 didn't drop the sword till almost two months post the release of T6-9 for me.
Even then it was only during a point where I was helping a newbie through old coil.
Truly the game knows how to stick it where it hurts.

PS3 > PS4 upgrade is active till December iirc

Should have just let the Allagan man get one of the first three Poetic weapons after like the 6th straight failure!
