Last T11 I did as SMN I got ~106 auto-attacks in for a little over 10,000 damage? Considering my positioning, that's 50/50 for Phase 1/3 and only ~6 during adds on the egg. I could probably squeeze more in since I ended the fight with excess MP so I think I could reasonably bump it up to 120 or so total auto-attacks for free.

Our last two T13s I think were a lot worse as it's basically just Phase 1 + every time I stack for mechanics but that's still around 4k damage. At this point, I'm comfortable with the fight enough that I could easily get double that in without really changing anything I do. Realistically, 6-8k is around where I'd feel comfortable on non-training dummy fights like T12, T13.

Don't wait. Finish your cast and then use Firestarter after.

Since we're talking about Firestarter, if you get a Thunderstruck don't use it right away. Cast a Fire I first [to see if you get a Firestarter proc] and then use the Thunderstruck afterwards as a "buffer" between the two spells. That way you could cast a Fire I, use a Thunderstruck [and immediately get a Firestarter proc from your previous Fire I], use Firestarter, and then resume your Fire I rotation.

Also, if you get a Firestarter proc just as you switch to Umbral Ice III, when you reach full mana Transpose back into Astral Fire I first before using your Firestarter proc. You'll do a lot more damage that way.

Transposing to AS1 as you suggested in the second part is a great idea so I'm definitely doing that going forward but surely delaying any Thundercloud is a bad idea. Won't you lose out on more potential Thunderclouds?

It's more likely to lose out on a Firestarter proc than a Thunder proc due to the proc chance I believe, so casting Fire first then using Thunder lets you check for a firestart proc and use it right away. Probably doesn't change a whole lot, most of these changes are like 5 or under DPS increases, even if you do everything, your DPS will still mostly fluctuate more based on your RNG with procs overall as well as RNG in terms of being chosen by mechanics to do stupid stuff like running around.

You can, but I find the possibility of a second Thundercloud appearing in the matter of a few seconds [I sometimes go several rotations without one appearing -_-] is extremely slim. At most, you'll be sitting on a Thundercloud for maybe 2-3 seconds or so, just enough to get a cast of Fire I off. It's a beautiful thing when they alternate together. I once had a string of Firestarter/Thundercloud back-to-back, where I:

- Got a Thundercloud proc.
- Cast Fire I, then immediately used Thundercloud as a "buffer" between my Fire spells.
- Received a Firestarter proc as Thunder III went out, and I instantly used it.
- Started a Fire I cast and received a Thundercloud proc about hallway through, so I used it as soon as my Fire I cast finished.
- I then received ANOTHER Firestarter proc as soon as my Thunder III was insta-cast, which I used right away. I then continued my Fire I rotation.

I love it when that happens.

Any of you guys on a GTX 970? I just ordered one, and I was curious if it was enough to let you get away with supersampling. The FXAA implementation seems kinda weak, but the game scoffed at my initial attempt to force MSAA.

Also picked up a PS4 license for when my PC is unavailable, going to try that version tonight and see how it fares for myself. Just about to hit 30 on the Marauder... not exactly looking forward to leveling Gladiator to move on with Warrior; I wish they had at least put Provoke at or below the cross-class requirement level (or had just given Marauder their own Provoke) since it's such an important tanking skill.

You only really need it at 50 and not for a while either. It's mainly used for tank swaps, so only for a few specific 8 man fights. You can still run dungeons without it, while you level your gladiator (and it's only level 24, so it's not that bad).

In other news I got both my Novus and LTW Supra last night. I just need the book to become a 4 star LTW. Melding the off hand was fun...

And so I remain broke for the foreseeable future.

Yeah it may just be a small tweak but for me the fun in playing black mage is optimising everything to maximise the damage. It's more fun than just banging out a few Fire 1's and calling it a day.

Yeah Thundercloud is not that common unfortunately. I'll give this a go and see how it plays out. I do love it when the procs all line up in a nice way. One of my favourites is if you throw out a Thundercloud in between double flare. If you're quick it all chains together nicely to make a big BOOM. :) I wish there wasn't that annoying global cool down so you could just let it rip when you get them together instead of waiting.

while we're on the topic of blm, it's basically confirmed that once you're at low mana, the best rotation is blizzard 3 > thunder 1 > blizzard 1 > fire 3
best use of swiftcast if not using for swiftflare is to use it after the fire 1 after using a firestarter proc, so something like firestarter > fire 1 > swiftcast
try it out :3

My whm is almost 50, forgot I've already got some coil and darklight gear for it already. Will be way easier to gear up than my NIN who is currently ilvl60. :)

I hope it's the Healer outfit as I don't think it looks like a DPS set :(

That said, all the sets there look great. Infinite World of Darkness runs to get all the loot for vanity!

...!

That middle gear is white, therefore it's for healer.

And it looks so much better in general than the ugly ST stuff.

Well, the image doesn't show it but the top of the sheet says Caster / DPS, if I recall.

Edit: Or was that just the translation? Time to go find the footage now.

Guys help. I recently got big into fishing. My backpack looks like a god damned fish market now and I don't know what to do with all of this stuff. Some of it, even the HQ versions are useless and basically free on the market, some of it is valuable in large quantities for crafting or leves, and some of them are valuable even individually, like white coral which is a few k gil each on the market... Do I have to look all of these up individually on a wiki to find out what I should keep and what I should trash or is there some kind of quick reference sheet I can look at? This game already has major inventory issues as it is. I did not need this in my life.

I'm looking to get back into this game on PS4 (I have a previously leveled 50 white mage).

Is there a branch of the GAF the guild on Faerie server?

you can always desynth them and level up your culinarian desynth. Most of the time low level fish is garbage

Pretty much. Unless you know it's a leve fish, fish aren't worth hanging on to. You can level CUL desynth if you want to join the exclusive club of most useless desynth in the game. We don't even get fieldcraft demimateria.

The corals in general are useful as crafting mats, there are a handful of fish that are useful in cooking (giant catfish, emperor fish), a few that are useful in crafting, but for the most part it's trash.

The one advantage of CUL desynth is that somewhere around the mid 30s fish turn into fine sand and water shards; usually a water shard will be worth a little more than the fish vendor value. Higher level fish can turn into water crystals, or other elemental shards/crystals if they're special fish (judgeray gives lightning, some of the desert fish give earth, etc etc etc.)

Unless you are also leveling desynthesis, you can throw them away. Even 2-3 stars fishes are mostly useless, I just send them to my friends leveling desynthesis.

You can use this site for a quick look at 2-3 stars fishes and what they give.

Oh, some of the fishes used to level fisher via leve are worth keeping I guess (they sell for 800 gil each on Ragna), but that's all. You'll need a loooooot of space for the OVER 999999!!!!! types of baits this game has.

It's also hella expensive lol. I had 10 millions before I started fishing, now I have 4.

Miner and Botanist have much more leeway when it comes to gathering/perception stats.

Did that person die mid way through the dungeon?
Did he just up and quit the game? He must be dead.

Yes, there is no alternative answer. RIP that guy and his DPS.

Alive and casting the whole time! Also fairly okay geared, so it wasn't that.

No flare, no fire 3, only ice spell used was blizz 2. It was a masterpiece.

All I know is that they did a good job with them and I'll actually run WoD for pretty much every single gear set.
