2.5 so soon, dang. Might take a break from he multi class grind.

If I want some money, what's a good Land/Hand combo to put some time into? I have miner at 40, fisher at 30something and crafting classes in the 30s. I'm too poor/lazy to get them all to 50 for now. Does fishing and CUL desynth still produce anything of worth? Though I guess the point of fishing was never to be a huge Gil maker.

mining I always thought was better than botanist but converting the logs/ore into lumber/ingots is always a nice way to make money. If you can make like lvl 45ish armor/jewelry you can always spiritbond and make some good money that way. Even the ones that will give you grade II materia can be worth it since they could be going for a fair amt on your server. Fisher + Cul is hit or miss, but you gotta be able to catch big fish to get the good desynths. angary can correct me if I'm wrong

I sort of enjoyed miner but I think the high miss rates even at high percentages annoyed me at the 40s which is why I stopped heh heh. Also it seemed a bit easier to focus on FSH+CUL simply because of how obvious that combo is versus mining which a bunch of classes use, so I felt like I had to level bsm/arm/etc all as well. I haven't even touched botanist and don't plan to for a while.

But yeah I guess for money, mining is better.

BTN+CUL has more synergy than FSH does to be honest, the vast majority of fish just aren't good for anything.

Fishers need an armory chest style tackle box, and probably another sub-inventory for catches. The inventory requirement is absurd.

I think they said they are looking into addressing bait inventory issues.

Also just got like 5 commendations as monk after using that shoulder tackle landslide save in titan EX.

Sure beats the ironic commendation I got for using jump and throwing myself off the edge last night.

Yeah they just spell the words. Like you can read "Revenant's Toll" on the sign in Mor Dhona too and so on.

For the uninitiated, an Ewer is a jug, Bole is the trunk of a tree.

Odds are, obviously, each of them are related to an element, judged purely on colors. Fire/Water/Earth/Ice/Wind/Lightning

I should have picked a better server :(

I'm on adamantoise and it takes forever to get dungeons with the duty finder. It's pace breaking a bit. Made it to ifrit only to have to wait 45 min to get a team to fight him.

If you're a DPS there is no better server.

I should find mine. Asami has one from Gridania although the Asami I play isn't legacy in any way, my 1.0 account is locked behind a lost security key and I couldn't be assed to deal with SE customer support when I was ready start start playing 2.0.

They said they couldn't add any more inventory space but instead will focus on decreasing the amount of bait/lures used in new fishing spots and making retainer inventory management more user friendly.

Why didn't anyone tell me that Alexandrite maps aren't a cakewalk as a BLM?
I got destroyed in one of them, totally didn't expect a hard-ish miniboss which summons a ton of adds.

I had sort of the opposite experience--I went into them expecting a much bigger challenge than they actually pose, since I remember people grouping up to tackle them for safety when Novus first hit.

But with a decent healer chocobo and current iLevels the only one I ever even moderately worry about soloing on bard is the morbol one, and that's mostly because one time I decided to try to LoS the bind and wound up pointed the wrong way for the life of the bind as it wailed on the back of my head.

There were a lot of complaints when Novus first hit, though, because certain maps (the golem with the adds I think being a big one) would just obliterate people. I'm still not sure how you do them on a class without decent AOE.

When Alexandrite Maps were new, the average players ilvl was much lower, and people didn't know what to expect. Since most people tackle them at a slightly higher ilvl now, and generally know what to expect after the first few maps, they're generally not considered terribly high risk anymore.

I failed so many alexandrite maps as SMN but then I did them with BRD and a healer chocobo...so cake. Would have had my novus bow sooner if this had dawned on me earlier.

Will probably get my nexus book before I get to 1k light on my bow...=(

I don't think this has been posted yet.

It seems like it should be old because it's being vague about the 2.5 release date, but I don't remember seeing anything definite on the release timeframe for 2.5 part 2.

Part one of Before the Fall is scheduled for the mid to end of January with the release of patch 2.5, which contains myriad challenges for adventurers of every persuasion. The patch will include roughly two-thirds of the final main scenario quests, three new dungeons, and the conclusion of the Crystal Tower questline and the World of Darkness. The patch will also feature the adventures of Hildibrand─agent of enquiry, inspector extraordinaire─on his latest (and perhaps final?) investigation, a new battle against Odin, the Dark Divinity of legend, in Urth’s Fount, new gear for gatherers and crafters, numerous new recipes, and more. We have plenty planned to make this patch a befitting prelude to the end of the 2.X storyline.

There will be much to do in patch 2.5, and before we bombard you with more in part 2, we’ll be offering players a change of pace with patch 2.51, which focuses on the introduction of the Gold Saucer. It bears mentioning, however, that the establishment is known as the Manderville Gold Saucer in Eorzea. You’ll have to check it out for yourself to figure out where this moniker came from. Including chocobo racing, chocobo breeding, and the return of the FF card game Triple Triad, you can look forward to a fun and relaxing time in the Gold Saucer.

Part two of Before the Fall is scheduled for the end of March, closing the curtain on the story that brought about the rebirth of Eorzea. What trials and tribulations await the Warrior of Light? What drastic turn of events will grant passage to the reclusive nation of Ishgard? Only time will tell.

So 2.5 at the end of January, Golden Saucer in February or early March, second half of 2.5 at the end of March.

New crafting and gathering gear, lol.

So guys, my friend got back into the game after not playing for over a year.

He has a 50 warrior and stopped playing back when the game was out because at 50 all you did was like grind the same dungeon over and over (is what he said,I don't have a 50 yet so I don't know)

He now looked at guides on how to gear up and he said it seems everything is still a huge,long,boring grind and he won't be able to see any new content at all unless he grinds for ages. He is iLevel 55.

So,is this true or are the guides he read just shitty?
Is being at lvl 50 really the stop of anything fun in the game and it's all a huuuuuge grind of dailies and the same dungeon over and over?

Double flare the adds as soon as they pop and they usually all go down at once. Sleep also comes in handy when you need a second to breathe or are doing one of the maps 3/4 enemies and no adds. Just put them to sleep and fight them 1 at a time.

Damn, I completely forgot about sleep, since it doesn't work on anything in the recent dungeons...
