Astrologian's card draws will be as OP as FFXI Corsair's dice rolls. Instead of doing dps in between like a Corsair, Astrologian would be casting heals. I love me some RNG-based jobs.

My group is putting in an extra day Saturday to try and down t13 before Lunicia leaves the following day for a week and a half.

If we don't, can i pay some caster to run with us next Monday? We need this done. I dont care if its one chest.

It said you could save cards to use later, so maybe you can draw X amount of cards and then use abilities based on that set. If you don't like the results reshuffle with some cooldown. You hold on cards based on what abilities you will need way ahead of time, so it wouldn't be so much drawing trying for specific cards in heat of the moment, but planning your moves way ahead of time. A next level up on the preventive healin of scholar.

That's really only way I can see them incorporating real heavy RNG, unless of course they are completely insane and don't fully comprehend the implications.

You can have Makoto for the day, just make sure to feed him and return him in the condition he arrives. Doesn't really ever mess up, does excellent dps, has a slight punning problem.
Also I'll handle all monetary transactions on his behalf.

Dammit. I'll be in the air when the Heavensward CE goes on sale.

RIP.

Coincidentally, so will we. :3c

Edit: Aw, you said on sale. RIP reading comprehension. Real post then: They'll probably still have a few left by the time you land. Probably. Maybe. Sorta.

I've bit my tongue on numerous trolls in this thread over and over again, but I cannot stand by and let this one go. You're a menace to society and the game itself when you say such unabashedly ignorant things.

my favourite RPG character of all time is Squall.

GET OUT AND NEVER RETURN.

I don't know what the big deal is, it's not as if he said Lightning is his favorite or something.

If you think he would, can you put in a word for him to speak with Davos in game? I rarely see him outside of when you guys run and as far as i know, he doesn't post here.

Just did Garuda, the cutscene was the best one so far. I loved it.

Not sure if the group handled poorly the mechanics but the healing requirement was super high the transition when she blows up all the rock pillar almost killed me and I was hiding behind a two rock pillar.

But Squall is one the best FF protagonist he actually had a character arc and changes throughout the game.

Now the wonder twins in this game urghhh

Garuda normal is surprisingly difficult. Damage taken in the phase transition is based on how many pillars are remaining/their condition, but isn't mitigated by hiding. So the more damage the pillars take, the more it will hurt.

But it's totally normal to find Garuda a difficulty spike.

Because they want a clear? There are lots of reasons why they don't want to do it old fashioned way; (...)

It's always been funny to me that people are surprised by the idea. In a game that lets you be literally any class, it's not much different from paying someone to craft or gather something for you, is it? You pay that to save yourself the time of doing it yourself. Just in this case the service you are buying to save time is on the battle side of things.

The concept is foreign to me, that in a combat-centric game people are willing to pay exorbitant amounts of currency to bypass the combat, and by proxy the main idea of the gameplay. There's maybe one MMO I can think of where you could choose to go completely non-combat.

As frustrated as I have seen many people get with the different trials and coil, I don't know anyone that would be willing to pay millions for a clear. I've seen the selling ads in PF for a while but thought they were joke ads until I saw an argument blow up in Rev Toll over it.

A low hp or mp wasteful healer on Garuda is a death sentence. Having a healer who kept spamming stone and stoneskin instead of bothering to keep eye on my hp was painful. Had nerve to call everyone noobs and rage quit even though it was his first run at it

If the digital CE is the same as the physical CE minus the statue I'd be okay with that. I mean do I really need another one of these sitting unused in my house?

TitanFall_Collector_Edition_18inch_statue_2.jpg

I also could be hyping up the demand in my head for the physical CE. I'm just having flashbacks to getting Fan Fest tickets.

Haha, I was just coming here to post about how Astrologian would be my new job because of my love for Corsair. I was so disappointed with the lack of mechanics involved in Bard's support abilities.

Kind of curious PvPGAF. Does anyone actually LIKE the GC restrictions for pvp in regards to frontline? Myself and many others have made arguments that it needs to go because its fucking with ques, keeps you from playing with friends, makes for one sided matches with some GC thats dont have a god pool of players to draw from, and overall adds nothing to frontline itself gameplay wise. But there's always that one random that has a hard on for the GC restrictions because Rping and "pvp lore" (gotta be fucking kidding me with pvp lore) and they will not listen to reason.

I'm just general curious because I'm on the Aether data center and an immortal flamer and I've just about had it with 35+ min ques. Premades do not help this number at all.

edit: sitting here in a que right now and its been more than 40mins....

i dont think anyone likes the gc restrictions. queues are about the same for flames on primal.

I'm pretty sure most people agree the GC restrictions should be done away with. They're planning some PvP changes in the near future (probably with 3.0), and I'm hoping that this is one of the things they change.

I believed the same thing and then I read that interview from pax.

Quoting myself from the official forums:

At launch of Heavensward, we will have a new Frontline battle, with a new map and new rules. It will continue to be Grand Company based, but while before each Grand Company would start at a select location and the map, in Heavensward we will see a randomized starting location which will impact play. Armor rewards associated with Frontlines will also be updated. After that point they will update the Wolves Den.

From the Pax east interview that gamerscape did. All of my sadness :/

Though grand company based could mean anything, it doesn't have to mean they're keeping GC restrictions so much as the names themselves. Then again this feels more like wishful thinking on my part.

So yeah my morale is pretty low right now (no pun intended).....

Go on the official forums man-probably my first mistake right there >.>. Every time this comes up there's quite some many that argue against the idea of removing the GC restrictions.

I am willing to lead disgusting non-Maelstrom players to victory if it means shorter queue times, yes.

As long as I can play more than 3-4 times a day I gotchu my dude. Adders, mael it don't matter at this point as long as the que times come down.

I don't like the GC restrictions myself, mostly because of the queue times they generate. I might also add that, this is doubly painful for me, because I don't like Slaughter one bit, and the queue times for Secure were considerably longer last time I tried to get into a Secure match.

For context, I don't like Slaughter, because most of the time it seems to simply lead to a big moshpit battle in the center. It's hard to really follow what that many people are doing, and if you're playing on a controller, targeting one specific player among the dozens on the screen can be extremely cumbersome. The same issue exists in Secure mind you, but it's far less pronounced there. Usually fights end up being 8x8, or if you're unlucky 8x16, it's pretty rare to face more opponents then that at once, so the tab targeting is far less of an issue.

We had a guy in the GAF FC who essentially went as non-combat as possible, he had all the crafters at 50 but I don't think he ever got any battle classes to 50. Even if there aren't as many people who take it that far, there are still quite a few who focus on those areas over the endgame raiding stuff. There is quite a lot of content in the game period that doesn't involve clearing the 8man stuff, which is generally what people are paying for clears on. Then there are the people who do want to the battle content, but are blocked at some wall (like T5 or T9) that keeps them from moving forward. Finding groups who want to run that old stuff can be tough, especially competent ones.

It's definitely not a joke service, there is tons of gil to be made there, probably the best/quickest source of gil in the game if you got a good group (and there are lots of interested customers, like at the beginning of patch cycles or sometimes at the end when people rush to finish up stuff so they can dive headfirst into anything new)

Nope, the entire thing feels shoehorned in to try and make GC choice relevant outside of vanity gear. The actual "lore" behind why we are fighting is a joke, and it's actively detrimental to the gameplay experience. The queue times are the main reason I don't PvP much. Can take up to an hour to get into a match at times, and then your group is so horribly imbalanced you have no real chance of winning.

I am kind of hoping with the whole new Crystal Braves GC being founded, we can sort of dissolve the current GC system and effectively unite under the single banner. Maybe 2.55 will end with the three city states getting rekt and they all yield to the CB in order to combat the dragons or ascians or the sayian invaders, whatever the thing will be. If we need lore for why we are fighting, just say it is a massive training exercise conducted by the CB to build group cohesion between the different GC soldiers working together.

I believed the same thing and then I read that interview from pax.

Ugh I hadn't seen that, that's awful. I wish someone would ask him more directly what actual benefit we are getting from this broken system, or at least why it is worth these queue times. Yoship supposedly was a big PvPer himself, I can't imagine he is satisfied with how things are set up now. Quick someone get the time machine and have Kagari ask him!

Slaughter is horribly designed all around. I swear to god they only added it so they could say they weren't ignoring PvP.

Thing is, I'm pretty sure PVP is mostly on the backburner for them. I mean, it sounds like Wolves Den was never fully fixed, they took forever to add half decent reward armor to Frontlines, and the next time they added reward armor it was just pallete swap. They did put PVP onto roulette, but didn't really offer the sort of rewards PVPers are going after.

I get the impression that their PVP team is extremely small, and frequently tapped for other projects.

Yeah that is the biggest problem, they don't give it much focus and when they do bother it's always half-assed. I guess I am of the mind that if you aren't going to do it right, why bother with it at all. It seems like a lot of players have just given up on it, which is pretty sad.

I have no idea what to do on frontline duty, I just run in circles spamming rotation. It's like what do we even do what's adrenaline do or battle high. They literally dump you in it and tell you nothing only do it for the poetics

Yeeeeeah, there's some okay idea's in Frontlines, and if they took the time and effort to refine and polish them I think they could make a really enjoyable experience for players.

Buuuut, in indeed feels half hearted. To be fair, maybe they'll give it the attention it deserves after the expansion is out, but it kinda feels unlikely at this point.

I basically feel the same way about slaughter as a secure/wolves den man myself. Not to mention Slaughter I think has really made the lack of class balance more apparent to people. I get that they're doing a rock/paper/scissors sort of thing, but it just not it. Tanks have too few tools to actually shield party members-in particular mages. Once holmgang/cover are down your boned outside of stuns and group PvP buffs. Mages in turn have too few ways to peel melee not to mention auto attacks interupting spells, and melee are too susceptible to CC from mages and this is even with Fetter ward for the classes that do have it :/

Well no one seems to want to ask questions about PvP during interviews. It's like what little pvp community exists is nothing but a red headed step child.

I think it was on a live letter that they said slaugter was working as intended. I'll have to find it again, but I think it was right around the time they adjusted BLM LB

Thing is, I'm pretty sure PVP is mostly on the backburner for them. I mean, it sounds like Wolves Den was never fully fixed.

apparently it isn't getting fixed either until they're done with whatever it is they're doing in heavensward. so expect the eta to be like end of this year if they even give a shit at all lol

To, be, fair.

I think they ended up taking a lot of resources that would've gone into PVP, to get Gold Saucer up and running. Honestly, it feels like they just need a few more people for, whatever teams are handling PVP/Chocobo Racing, Triple Triad, etc, if only so there's enough people for them to do balancing updates and such while working on other side-games.

I'm not holding my breath, mind you.
