Are we really static-dick-measuring at this point?

I'm enjoying the pointless e-peening personally. I don't even know what it's like to measure your personal self-worth by how good you are at a game. Sounds like the most empty meaningless hollow life I can think of to be 100% honest.

Unless you play games professionally for a living like those Korean Starcraft players. They make some fucking amazing money playing games.

Bennu must be code for eat the white mage. That add phase has a ton of aoe healing...more than I thought but with more practice, it should be manageable. I sadly caused a good deal of wipes...X(

You must be doing something wrong. Add phase now is literally cast medicas at flames and keep tanks up in between.

Some guy farmed Indolent Imperial for 100+ hours and got his Fenrir mount.
God damn.

Can someone fill me in on why people would willingly buy runs? Apparently paying people millions of gil to run content is a thing.

A very common reason these days is mount farming.
If it drops the client takes it.
Some people with fat pockets even pay for "carry me until a TT card drops".
A more obvious reason is being unable to put a party together for a clear.

frustrated they can't clear some content
you have to admit this game's end game raid isn't solo friendly, so that ultimately means whether or not you can clear the content depends on others' performance
if you can't get a static it's very hard to clear fcob (at the beginning at least)

To do the funnest (and only challenging) content in the game more than once a week?

DF'd Titan Extreme doesn't have that limitation. Vote Abandon is the most challenging fight to date imo.

Welcome to 2003-2004 (FFXI).

I couldn't afford the fees back then. I'm more comparing to games that are outside of the Final Fantasy label.

The next step is to allow you to change classes in the middle of combat. With each class having its own GCD and ability to keep combo bonuses through switching. So you could do something like Ability > Switch > Ability > Switch > Ability > Switch, etc.

I couldn't imagine making an alt in this game.
I'm same boat, spent too much time on the single character getting all the classes and stuff to ever go through that again. Most of the people I know who have alts do it because they got nothing else to do, I don't have the patience to work my way through that grind again so I just go play other games.

Maybe it will be more reasonable if they ever boost leveling/speed up story somehow after the expansion. Working through all that 2.1>2.5 story content as a new player in Heavensward will be a pain in the ass.

I cant wait to ride the great gazoo in the expansion
Alright dumb dumb, do you know something I don't, did they show off a gazoo looking mount or something.
they should just let us fly around like he can, no mount needed

Because they want a clear? There are lots of reasons why they don't want to do it old fashioned way; whether that be trouble finding competent group, being incompetent themselves, or just having lots of gil to blow. Or something inbetween maybe. Some of the buyers I've seen have been the heavy crafter-first types or people who mainly PvP. And of course there are your run-of-the-mill obvious gil buyers.

It's always been funny to me that people are surprised by the idea. In a game that lets you be literally any class, it's not much different from paying someone to craft or gather something for you, is it? You pay that to save yourself the time of doing it yourself. Just in this case the service you are buying to save time is on the battle side of things.

Man, that's some dedication. I've made like 40k off him so far going for Gaius and I thought I was crazy. If you got a good strategy/deck it is kind of relaxing though, at a certain point it just becomes automatic with zero thought.

Actually one interesting thing is that based on his results (http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2yu4xg/fenrir_mount_from_impodent_imperial_farm/) he only got 16 Gaius across a few thousand games, so it seems Prae may be the superior route for Gaius.

I have less of an issue with people offering sales but more of an issue with all the Gil buyers. That rmt spam is really obnoxious on Ultros! Granted that is more of a pet peeve more than anything else.

So, I don't want this to sound like I'm tooting my horn or anything, but, I saw Teraflare today!

There is a light at the end of the tunnel! AND IT IS BLINDING! D:

I find levelling all DoW/DoM on one character to be a larger waste of time. Ultimately endgame will force you to specialize unless your name is Ktai or something. Getting to 50 isn't that hard
when you know where everything is and from there you can just throw on crafted gear bought for the main‘s cash and go to town.

Ultimately. I went with tank alt to healer main because there's too many DPS anyway and I want to be on the other end of Akh Morn one day.

Oh and there's literally zero gil tells on Tonberry.

When I want to level a DPS class I just wait until Scy wants to level a tank/healer

When he starts his second alt at some point I'll finish levelling Ninja and Dragoon

Is there any other penalty for abandoning duties, beyond the 30 minutes DF penalty? I want to leave every WoD that doesn't drop my BRD body on the second boss :(

Ah, MMO players making fun of other MMO players.

Yeah, every MMO player is the same.

The dude admitted playing 20 hours in a day on one of those days. That's fucking insanity, to say that all of us are like that is retarded. I haven't played 20 hours straight of any game since like FF9 when it launched and I finished it in a weekend when I was like 13.

Welp, friends, I have been messing the hell up. I just found out you get stat points to spend as you level up. Guess I have some spending to do when I get home. My level 35 summoner probably is pretty mad at me right now!

Don't feel too bad. I didn't realize for a good while either about stat points when I was leveling up. Felt pretty dumb when I realized lol.

While Light grinding yesterday, I never got that once. Always got rolls under 20 and someone always had a higher roll than me. ;_;

This is why you kiss up to a tank or healer. Either that or Netflix!

Unfortunately kissing up to a tank (less so with healers I find) seems to give a lot of tanks the "I'm so important complex" where they demand you do everything their way (no matter how wrong or stupid their way may be) or they will leave because "It's only a 30 minute debuff and I'll get a group instantly after the debuff is up"

Not all tanks are like this but I have seen a good few who obviously only leveled a tank foe quick queues but have that "I'm so important" complex. (and a lot of the time, these types tend to be pretty bad at their job)

You can always stay the full run so you can experience the glorious 4 belt drop of WoD.

Alice is currently after the WHM belt... we have never seen it drop once. For some reason I think if she gives in and buys the poetic belt, it will drop the very next WoD run because that's just our luck.

You find offense in that but stereotyping a guy just because he did something you wouldn't find fun is perfectly okay.

Hey guys,

i just started this game on PS4 a few days ago. I have to do the first dungeon near Limsa http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Sastasha_Seagrot but i cant find any other players who are doing the same. If i search for a group it says 30 min waiting time, i just waited 90 minutes and nothing happened. It sucks that this is a story quest else i would just skip it. Any advice what to do now?

Also i have no idea how to add people in a group

Are you on Ultros in the GAF FC? or in an FC that is willing to help you (regardless of server)? If not then try the Party Finder but that may take longer than using Duty Finder depending on on if you get anyone that doesn't mind running a quick dungeon with a newbie.

As for adding people into your party. subcommands menu (square/right click) when hover'd over a character and click invite to party.

If you haven't already, join one of the GAF FCs. There's usually people willing to help run through dungeons on there. You could also shout that you're looking for a group to run a certain dungeon. Sometimes there are people standing outside the dungeon that you can party up with.

To make a party, either select a name on a friends/FC list or select their actual character on the screen. Then hit square and select invite to party.

Just start the queue and go run other quests or craft and it makes it go by in no time.

It doesn't matter, you still gets tons of experience from dungeons even well above.

ye i know i just thought its annyoing that im 7 levels above the mainstory quests just because i cant find people in the queue. They should implenet AI like Guildwars did to run dungeons, at least in the early levels
